"You want nuts, let's get nuts!!" Best tasting: salted peanuts. But I prefer to eat nonsalted, raw almonds.
  2. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 16, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Gilmore with his first home run on the year! Stud. He is definitely hitting like one. But one big problem is his defense. With all his issues, I can't seeing him develop into a MLB-caliber third baseman, which means he would have to move to second base or a corner outfield spot. With the corner spot, he doesn't have the power or the speed to compensate for the lack of power. So I gotta believe he will be a second baseman should he make it the major leagues. For how well he is hitting average-wise, his OPS is still sub .800. Nice to see a big rebound season from him, but still a lot to improve.
  3. It's cool and all, but it just is the middle of nowhere. I've been there and it's like awesome for a minute, and then you realize it's not that amazing.
  4. Going to the game again today. Went last night. Target Field is really nice. Great downtown backdrop, easy to get to the game and they have lots of heaters throughout the park to help the fans keep a little warmer. I would recommend it as a great baseball destination to anyone -- though maybe more a summer thing than early May. Of course, the weather becomes terrific Friday on in Minny.
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 9, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) I hear what yer sayin...but how many innings had bobby pitched before he was put in that role? Gotta start somewhere I guess... 432.3 innings. Quite a few more, haha. But hey, I am all for it.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 9, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) ^^^^ why shake up the whole bullpen when one guy truly (unfortunately you closer) sucks... just switch Jenks and Sergio. Not rocket science. Just to play Devil's advocate (b/c I wouldn't mind Santos pitching the 9th) but he has only pitched 42 innings in his ENTIRE PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL CAREER. That's really all that needs to be said. But I am cool with it still. EDITED for 42 innings.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Reminds me of 2005 when people questioned if Jenks was ready for the role. At some point, stuff is just so overwhelming it can succeed in any role. And just like in 2005 (minus our team's success at that point), the guy in question had two electric pitches. High 90s heat with a sharp, tantalizing breaking pitch.
  8. I actually wouldn't mind at all Santos in that role. He has been dominant this season and is probably the guy for the future. If he got a chance and failed. I wouldn't be angry.
  9. Yeah, you have a 2.17 WHIP, 6.75 ERA and teams are hitting .350 off of you. Yes, Bobby that makes no sense why we shouldn't be considering moving you from the closer's role. In the words of Herm Edwards, HELLO?!?!
  10. There is no reason Jenks should be closing anymore. Your best reliever should be the closer and it ain't close who the best one on this team is. He also happens to be one of the top ten in all of baseball. 0.72 WHIP and a 25 to 3 K to BB ratio is simply ridiculous. Meanwhile Jenks is being hit off of at a .400 rate.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) Right now...both of them look like .200 hitters on a good day. A .248 hitter in AAA will probably hit about the same. Granted, he at least can hit the ball in the gaps unlike Pierre who is worthless basically at anything but singles/stolen bases. Sadly, he is the better option in the OF but only because his .200 average will come with a slugging percentage better than his batting average.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 8, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Short 5-6. Prospect or just hot? He's definitely a prospect, but he also really needs to improve his K to BB ratio. But there is a lot to like. Also would like better SB numbers from him, but .387 from a 21-year-old in High A is definitely a legitimate prospect.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 7, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) The tasering in Philly sounds like the perfect story line for a future It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. haha. I could totally see Mac doing it on a dare. Someone could tell him that he would be famous and in the news for it, he would so do it.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Should be a disgustingly great game tonight! Might see more fights tonight than before though IMO. I know. I am so excited for tonight. It's gonna be such a physical game. Tonight is a game where Eager is gonna be huge. With the way Buff has been playing, he can't afford to be in the box on a fighting penalty, so Eager is gonna be the one who will have to lay down the law if we are getting cheap shot.
  15. Anyone who runs onto the field should be tasered, in my opinion. It's the only way people will stop doing it.
  16. Finally watched How I Met Your Mother from Monday. Barney was great, but everyone else sucked. The show is really starting to drag. There have maybe been 1/3 good episodes this season and the rest are bad.
  17. "Chicago is not a better team than us," Luongo said. "They're not playing better than us. They are just doing a better job in front of the net on both sides. Dustin is doing a good job of what he's doing and he's not getting called for it so he's taking advantage of it. I love this quote from Luongo. Bulletin board material definitely. What a little baby.

Shelby's K to BB ratio is like 22 to 5 and he's 25 in AA. No, he is not a prospect IMO.
  19. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 4, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) The only job I could see JVG having any sort of interest in would be the Nets job, and that's only if their new owner offers him about $10M a season to leave the broadcast booth. McHale is a really interesting option, as Felix brought up some good points. He was a horrible GM, but he had the Wolves playing hard last season, and I think he deserves another opportunity with some real talent. I'm suprised the Bulls aren't going after Avery Johnson though, really suprised. Also I read that Houston will be going all out to sign Chris Bosh. And that would be a good situation for him, alongside Brooks, Yao and Kevin Martin, that's a pretty nice young core, and it's his home state to boot. Here's from Dallas originally, so let's hope he hates the Rockets/Houston for some odd reason.
  20. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=378042&src=150 I pray to god Maurice Cheeks is not a serious candidate for the Bulls job. He's never got past the first round of the playoffs in nine years of head coaching. Out of that list, I would want JVG first, then Kevin McHale. Frank is not the type to draw a prime free agents and Cheeks is just awful. Man, that list is pretty depressing after JVG who I would have to imagine would just prefer to stick to broadcasting where he is awesome. And the whole VDN situation is tough for me, I am really ambivalent. On one hand, Vinny was not a great coach. He couldn't draw up plays, didn't seem to have the respect of the players despite many supporting him recently and just made curious decisions about a lot of other things. On the other hand, he was a first-time coach as a head coach in the NBA, he really gave Rose a lot of control in Year Two and under his direction Rose/Noah became All Star-type players. I don't believe any other coach would have had more success than Vinny did given the circumstances with the Bulls. I guess the biggest issue he has was that he wasn't going to be able to land a big-time free agent.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) Yeah, at 24 he'd be a little more appropriate at AA. If he could put up solid numbers there at 24, I'd start to REALLY take notice. Yeah that is one of my big rules for excitement over a prospect: age relative to league. He is way too old for A-ball, so I really don't put stock in his numbers.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Remind me to never go to NYC when the Sox are playing there. Yeah scary. 9/11 and now this.
  23. I cannot imagine how much KW hates the idea of this show. For such a private person who hates cameras, it must kill him that he has to let cameras into his daily work.
  24. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Yeah, if Quentin and AJ continue to hit .150 for the rest of the year... and if Beckham can't hit above .220 on the season... then you're right... it will continue to be a terrible offense. But if guys simply hit their career averages, then this will be a league average offense. Nothing special, but not awful either. The converse of this is that the two guys carrying us mostly are Jones/Konerko, and history tells us that both will experience significant slumps at some point during the year. And Konerko is clearly not going to stay his pace.
  25. It's also funny to think that we have a relief pitcher who could probably be hitting better than Pierre right.
