Erstad vs. Aramis Ramirez
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Erstad was good, then yes, I'd choose him. I think a better question would be... A player who is a grinder, gives 110%, and plays good D with numbers something like .265, 25 HR, and 80 RBI OR A player who doesn't give it his all, plays decent D, but with numbers of .310, 30-40 HR, and 100+ RBI. How many Erstad types hit 25 homers in a season? Erstad did it once in a fluky year. Rowand has never done it. Byrnes had 26 last year. Eckstein's season high is 8.

Erstad vs. Aramis Ramirez
I'm not directly arguing Erstad vs. Ramirez. I put "type" after their names in the poll. Aramis is not a unique player, neither is Erstad. Let's bury Erstad's 2000 once and for all. Christ, it was 3 years before Esteban Loaiza's fluke year which was 4 years ago already.

Erstad vs. Aramis Ramirez
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're better than this Santo. If we can establish that Erstad's grindy abilities don't really add up to much, then perhaps people will quit mentioning it and expect him to turn around this entire team. Both Erstad and Aramis are coming off the DL, they play for Chicago teams, but they are on complete opposite ends of the hustle spectrum. Erstad's play directly affects his health, and my Cardinals fan buddy argues Aramis' poor work ethic contributes to his leg problems.

Erstad vs. Aramis Ramirez
Both of these Chicago players are due to come off the DL this weekend for the crosstown series. The question begs to be asked; which type of player do you prefer to have? Option A: The Darin Erstad type. Gives more than 100%, gets his jersey dirty, hustles, but puts up crappy offensive numbers Option B: The Aramis Ramirez type. Doesn't run out all grounders, some long hits are singles or throw outs at second, but he give you 30 HR, 100+ RBI's and a solid BA and OPS. What is your choice?

You break the law in our country, you get sentenced the same way. Not different like Michael Fay getting caned or that dude in the Midnight Express. BHAM, are you talking about Arpairo?

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone want to do a little bit of digging and see what the Sox record is with Erstad leading off and what the record is so far since he's been gone ? How about you since you obviously think it means so much? Erstad does not improve this bullpen.

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because if Thorman can handle first base, and they already have McCann as a catcher, they can deal Salty, who has a ton of trade value, for something else they need, namely, younng starting pitching or an OF to replace Andruw Jones. Chipper is also becoming an issue as he gets injured every other game. Huge word right there. I don't know think too many oranizations would trade possibly a better option, a catcher, when their unknown at first is putting up numbers that give Grinderstad a run for his money.

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jayson Stark wrote today that the Braves jumped into the Buehrle fray. I'd imagine the first name mentioned after Buehrle would be Saltalamacchia. Why does everybody keep throwing his name around? If he's better than Thorman, wouldn't they trade Thorman instead?

If Buehrle is traded.....
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IMO, KW would want Floyd in the rotation. Looks like KW will try to be true to his word because he said he wouldn't trade a starter unless the product in return would help the major league team for 2007.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Just because the Red Sox gave up a lot for him, it does not make WMP worth that much. OBP by year: .283, .316, .304, .349, .301 The slugging is there, but a better version of Joe Borchard doesn't mean he's a good hitter.

It happened in chicago about 4 years ago already. Someone crashed into some pedestrians killing one of them, and the three people in the car were shot to death IIRC.- 2007 AL Central Catch-All Thread
First Mesa, now Hernandez. Indians designated RHP Roberto Hernandez for assignment. Hernandez, who was given a one-year, $3.5 million contract over the winter, had a 6.23 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in 26 innings for the Indians. He belongs in the National League and he'llprobably head back there now. Maybe the Indians will find someone willing to pick up half his salary. The Mets and Phillies qualify as a couple of possibilities. $3.5 million!!! How is it everyone here saw this coming yet the excutive of the year in 2005 didn't.- Erstad to Return Friday; Pods Update
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I, for one, am excited to see Erstad back. It won't change s***, and shouldn't, but I would like to see someone on our team play to the best of their ability and with all the effort in the world rather than all this dogging-it bulls***. Erstad is playing at the best of his ability? He should retire from baseball. I didn't see him hustle to the ball that dropped behind him in Anaheim. I'll take a great player who plays at 80% over a crappy player who plays at 100% or above 7 days of the week.- Barrett traded to the Padres
