  1. newcastle, which is strangely probably the only beer i've found to be far better tasting out of a bottle than off the tap. it's also inconsistent from case to case, but when it's on it's really on.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Let me sink the "Sox can't pitch" ship rightaway with this note in today's Trib I guess Boston sucks offensively, huh. helps that there's a limited number of 4 game series through the course of a season. i'm sure it's been done plenty of times in 3 game series. impressive nonetheless.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:47 AM) That's like saying "a tie goes to the runner" and "the hand is part of the bat". None are true statements. Pardon my ignorance. If the rule isn't 'a tie goes to the runner', what is it? I thought that was a pretty basic rule.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Coffee can cause cramping? How exactly? It's a diuretic promoting urine release and thus dehydrating and cramp-causing
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) One HUGE difference is that steroids have always been illegal. Does baseball need rules against murdering people and child porn too? well, i guess that's what i'm wondering. surely athletes were the first people exposed to steroids before the general public knew of them (for muscle development, that is). there must have been a period of time when baseball players were using them and they weren't yet banned. Granted there was probably some blanket rule against anything providing an unfair advantage and not explicitly banning roids, but then these contacts would seemingly be covered by that too.
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) Everyone has the chance to get these. Nothing agaist it in the rulebook. Everyone had the chance to get steroids before they were banned. Were they cheating?
  7. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) http://us.redstripebeer.com/media probably the greatest commercials of all time. HOORAY BEER these commercials are fine, and the beer is okay... but you know the one where they're making a joke about how the white dude can't dance because he's white until he's got a red stripe in his hand... where are all the PC people asking this commercial to be banished? can you imagine if budweiser made a commercial about how a black dude got a s***ty score on his SAT until he had a bud in his hand? i think there would be quite an outcry.
  8. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I'm not so concerned about his hitting - how is he running? very gingerly. but he didn't have to run hard the game i saw.
  9. I saw Frank play last night and he looked nowhere near ready to come up. He wasn't recognizing offspeed pitches and looked pretty bad in his 2 strikeouts and dribbler to 2nd base (also had a solid single to left). He was, however, very friendly in coming out after the game and autographing s***.
  10. 25 yearz of age, born and raised in Oswego, IL and now in rochester, ny. i said yearz
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Donn with an interesting and smart point. He says that a lot of times, the tougher outs are in the seventh and eighth innings, not the ninth. So, why not use your better relievers in those innings? as a former middle reliever himself, somehow i'd expect pall to feel this way. i happen to agree with him though.
  12. Interesting to see Greinke is not on the list but Garland, Myers, Marquis, Bedard, Bonderman, Cliff Lee and Jeff Francis (?) are. I'd likely take Greinke over any of them (unless Jonnyboy continues this streak).
  13. john tesh has never had so much praise heaped on him yes, that's his song
  14. i actually think he takes pitches pretty nicely. he strides toward a lot of pitches but lays off them, a sign of a good eye in my book. he doesn't have much of a walk rate but who on the team does thus far?
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) That may well be (he may not pay much attention to the ALC), I'm just arguing that he's not a "hack". Neyer is a KC Royals' fan, so I assume he follows the AL Central closely. He was my favorite baseball writer until one needed ESPN insider to read his articles.

  17. I live in nearby Rochester and yeah, you're right, buffalo sucks (except for buffalo '66 a great movie set in buffalo). There's about an 1/8 mile stretch of one street that's tolerable. When the steel industry left in the late 70's/early 80's, the town turned into a deserted industrial s***hole. And yet they have a subway system.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Keeping her alive, at worse, provides no benefit to Terri. this is an interesting point. there are certainly those who believe that this woman is still a cognizant human being, with videos of her showing emotion as evidence. point granted for this issue (although i by no means believe this to be true). i can't imagine there are too many ways to live much worse than being paralyzed and unable to communicate with anyone, whle lying motionless in a bed for 15 years. if she's conscious of what's going on around her, this sounds like an absolute personal hell. do people really think ANYONE would prefer a situation like that to no longer existing? it's johnny got his gun, sans fantasy.
  19. how do you edit a player's attributes? i created iguchi but he sucks.
  20. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) Given that it will take at least 20 yrs to realize cyborg Terri would it not make more sense to simply clone her? The cloned Terri would enjoy a better & fuller life 20 yrs from now. u r FunNy. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) There are those in the scientific community who believe human DNA contains information pertaining to memories passed down from one generation to the next. that's a loose definition of the "scientific community". i'm sure they conduct well-funded research.
  21. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) This about one person who is brain IMPAIRED being denied an opportunity for a better life in a cyborg future. Big difference. She's not brain dead. Brain dead people suffer deterioration of the organs. That's not Terri. first off, if you're defining "brain dead" as a person whose brain can no longer control their peripheral organs, is anyone ever brain dead? aren't they just dead? higher brain processing centers are more susceptible to hypoxic conditions than the brainstem. essentially all she's got left is brainstem which is just enough to let her breath and keep her heart beating. i question how you can be so sure that just her sensory perception has been disrupted. there's this little thing called consciousness which she will never, ever experience again. even in this future cyborg world of yours, any experience from her 25 years are lost forever. they can't be recreated. the neural network that information was contained within died 15 years ago. That s***'s not in her genome. we're just now getting to the point where we have a rudimentary understanding of neural control over very basic motor movements. the chances of us ever truly understanding human "consciousness" is slim-to-none. and that's fine. that's what makes humans so unique: we can't be recreated.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) I would also like to point out that Ben racked up 22 points in NINE minutes. No typo, translates to 117 pts per 48 minutes for tonight) That's some serious scoring. unless you're talking about a different game, he played 20 minutes last night http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=250311025 he did however make 9 field goals is he taking the lead in the ROY race? i think he's gotta be gaining some ground on okafor
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) I missed the beginning, fill me in. The guy who ended up winning the fight, how was he chosen to fight 1st? I know he chose his opponent, but how was HE chosen? they had a team challenge... each team had to lug a few logs a mile up a mountain road. the winning team picks who from their team will fight and who they will fight from the other team. their original plan was for a good west coast guy to fight a s***ty east coast guy, but they switched it up.
