  1. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Indiana would want Deng no doubt in the deal Indiana would be so quick to move O'Neal for Gordon. They'd love to be rid of him, imo.
  2. Oh my god...I'm in love. Now the team needs to get rid of Ben because I actually like Larry Hughes. In fact I like Hughes a lot. The only major risk is health. Geeze am I excited.
  3. Let me know when any Northern team consistently represents one of the good teams in college baseball (with the exception of Oregon State). Bottom line, this new schedule is going to absolutely water down the level of play and it is going to prevent teams from getting to play as many power teams. I realize the idea of timing everyone's schedule similarly, but they don't do that with college football (big ten play ends weeks before some of the other conferences play).
  4. This is a solid move. Let Bartolo get healthy and if he is healthy you give him a spot later on down the road. If he isn't, you risked very little.
  5. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) I don't know how much interest there is here. I know we got Jason, the Vandy fan (sorry I'm not good with names), and myself, but I figured I'd start a thread for the season. The season finally gets underway on Friday thanks to the new rule. I personally hate it, but I'm sure the Northern schools love it. I liked it much better when we started Feb 1st last year, but I can see where schools don't like that and how it can be unfair. I don't like how we have a conference game on the third weekend and a lot of weeks where we have 2+ games midweek. FSU starts out the season against Duquesne this weekend. I don't know a thing about them, but I can't wait. In a week from Tuesday we play the Phillies which was a lot of fun last year. It should be an interesting season for us. We lost Tony Thomas and Mark Hallberg to the draft on the offensive side. The big loss Bryan Henry. He was the Friday night starter and was good for 7-8 every start. We also lost our #2 starter in Michael Hyde. This years Friday starter will be Elih Villanueva from Miami Dade CC (how we got him, I don't know). He's got a Zambrano like build, but only tops out at 94 with 4 legit pitches and a great curve. I would keep going, but I'm sure no one cares. Hopefully I get some interest here. I just want to give an official F-U to college baseball for starting the season later and going to this new schedule which is going to completely reak havoc on pitching staffs everywhere. Oh and GO TITANS!!!!. New coach so it should be interesting to see if things can continue (they have a couple top notch young position players but the rotation will be a bit of a question-mark, especially with these weeks where you may have 5 games.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) We must be long lost twins. I did the same thing tonight out of nowhere. Mine wasn't alcohol related. Mine wasn't either. I was feeling good most of the day too and than it came on out of nowhere.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) If I was a contending team, I'd give up roughly what the Lakers gave up for Gasol or what the Hawks gave up for Bibby to get Carter at this point. Nothing more. That would be value for Carter since it would give them expiring contracts. I'm not saying they get Devin Harris, I'm saying they rid themselves of a contract.
  8. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) For Carter? He's signed for three more years at something like $15 mil per, and his age is showing. I think he's almost unmoveable. Shows what I know. I think if you put him on a team that can contend he could turn into a valuable piece. I'm not saying he's the player he once was and you may be right, cause 3 more years is pretty rough, but I would deal Ben Wallace for him (than again that isn't really value, haha). If I were a team with some ugly contracts that were closer to expiring I'd think that would be a valuable enough deal (I should note that I consider value, the Nets getting back some bad contracts which can clear there cap room).
  9. QUOTE(whitesox94 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) BOBBY looks like Sidney Ponson He definitely looks fat in that picture. Did Juan actually come in to camp fat? I was assuming he hadn't reported yet (since most of the players, aside from Crede or anyone else coming back from injury, wouldn't be reporting yet.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Ozzie/KW sporting NIU hats, Gavin Floyd throwing: AJ: Danks: Wasserman: Does Danks look like Kenny Rogers to anyone else?
  11. I can't wait for baseball season to start...god I love this sport
  12. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) So the NBA all-star game started at 6:30 and TNT starts it at 7:30 correct? .. I think thats so stupid Huh? Are you implying it is on a tape delay?
  13. That is a great deal for the Nets. The Nets now are going to have to try to move Carter and Richard Jefferson and I think they should get solid value for each of them. They'll also be able to get some good contracts and they already have a solid center (defensively speaking) and a heck of a young PG (I'm a huge Devin Harris fan). The Mavs will need to win a championship (sometime w/Kidd there) for this deal to turn out for them, anything less and it will probably be a failure, imo. This does bode well for me as I just acquired Harris in my fantasy league and I think once he comes back he should be more successful (he'll get more minutes).
  14. Duke is down by a few to Wake with about 2 to go. Games on FSN and has been pretty solid.
  15. Personally I prefer New York style most of the time, but every once in a while a good deep dish just hits the spot (and the only time I ever have on is when I am in Chicago and thats been too long).
  16. Can someone send me the league info, I don't think I got it (in terms of where I go to sign up). Thanks.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) was Bobby Hill a Boras client? Boras didnt endear himself to any general manager with the JD Drew/Phillies debacle Boras also solidified his non-negotiating status with the Sox in the original Alex Rodriguez negotiations, when KW wanted to talk to A-Rod and Boras wouldnt let him without being in the room. Bobby Hill was a Boras client and a more known hold-out, but the real issue with Boras started when he circumvented things and found a loohpole (ie, when Bobby Seay, who was under the Sox control or so people thought, ended up being able to take a fat offer from the Devil Rays).
  18. There is a rumor going around that Scott Skiles will be the Hoosiers next coach. I for one thing that would be a tremendous hire. I don't know how he'd recruit, but he's one hell of a coach and given the college environment, where most players would stay 2-3 years as opposed to sticking around the full 4, he's less likely to ever have guys get tired of his message. On one hand, I'd be happy to see Skiles coaching somewhere, on the other, as someone that despises the Hoosiers, I would hate to see them get such a good coach and not get punished for hiring a crook like Sampson.
  19. Good lord I wish I got paid hourly right now...70 hour weeks at 25 bucks an hour would be pretty awesome. I also hope that as my paycheck continues to grow (I've been told i'm getting a very nice raise this year, hopefully it holds true given the economic circumstances) and while it does grow I hope I'm smart enough to remember how much I b****ed about working ridiculous hours (and do what I can to save a bit more throughout my life so I can never really have to worry about money (just have a nice house, solid car, and the ability to go on some modest vacations each year). I have some things that are expensive taste, but early on in my life as a working stiff I've came to realize that having freedom/time is more important than anything (cause it makes me happier than money or anythinge else, but you obvioulsy need some money). It does make me feel good seeing that I'm a year out of college and making more than the average us household though and than horrid that that wouldn't allow me to even have my own place where I live (or even close to having my own place....WHAAA).
  20. Good god, I hope Sampson ruins IU's program. It would be so awesome. Its what they get for not taking Alford, hehe.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Do you think that Bibby would either have made the Bulls a legit contender this year or would have been worth what we'd have had to give up to get him? I'd f***ing throw up if they got Bibby. I don't want some past his prime bum. I want the Bulls to open up the front court. To be honest I just want the Bulls to give Noah/Thomas/Gray a boatload of minutes down low, Deng to get healthy for next year and Hinrich/Sef to get a boatload of minutes playing together. Hinrich as a pure point (no longer having to deal with having Ben Gordon on teh squad) will be a very good point guard. The team will just need to find a way to get one more good player and I think if they can package up Gordon, Wallace, Joe Smith and whomever the heck else (maybe Nocioni) in a couple deals they could eventually figure a way to make something happen (maybe not until this off-season, but move numero uno should be moving Ben Wallace). I'd even be all for moving Gordon for high lotto pick (to go after one of the phenom freshman (Beasley would be my dream pick).
  22. f***....the Bulls are not going to make a trade, i just know it and they need to move Wallace and Gordon.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) Look at their roster. It's pretty self explanatory. Scraps. Crede is worth very little right now. Personally I'd rather move Fields and Contreras elsewhere for a starter (not necessarily in the same deal) but if you packaged Fields with some prospects you could get a very good starter in return, and than move Contreras off the books which would enable you to resign Crede to a 3 year 21M deal with incentives that could push it into the 30-33M range. I don't know if that is not enouhg money for Crede, but I think it would benefit the Sox (but that is because I would do almost anything to get another starter here and Jose elsewhere).
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) If they are on an opponent's team that means they quit juicing, if they are on your team, they worked out, quit the junk food, and got in shape One difference, Giambi got lightyear, Masset worked off his fat and put on muscle (which would not be an indicator of cycling off). I for one am happy. The guy has a great build for a pitcher and pretty good stuff (not as great as we were expecting, but it is solid).
