QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) Where did you hear about a 10M trade exception? I found it on realgm but it is from an article in the San Francisco Chronicle. Here's the snippet: -
QUOTE(toasty @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) i dont think they could stand to wait over the weekend if the deal has been reached... too much speculation. Well if Jose is moved before the weekends end than I think we will already know a deal has been reached

Wow....Golden State not only got rid of Jrich's contract and got Brandon Wright but they also get a 10 mill trade exception from the bobcats. Geeze, talk about a terrible f***ing deal by Jordan. Also, apparently Yi is demanding a trade from the Bucks. I wonder if the Bulls liked him or not. -
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) --BUZZZZZ-- Wrong answer. Nobody's impressed with the baseless conjecturing on Collective Bargaining Agreements. If you are fluent in the Major League Baseball Players Association bylaws, then, by all means, let your voices be heard. If you are fluent in collective bargaining matters and how it might relate to a specific Buehrle hang-up, again, fire away. If not, take it elsewhere. Last I looked...you are not running this site. If you want to whine or tell the world what we can and can't post in here, than go build your own site and tell the people there. That said, this thread can continue on as is.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) It's that time of year again, so in case anybody wants to know where KW can find Carl Everett, here's an article on ESPN. Crazy Carl Great article. I freaking love Carl. Definitely one of my favorites, even though he didn't wear the Sox uniform for all that long. I will never forget him coming out of the dugout at Angel stadium as all us Sox fans are celebrating the Sox going ot the series and there's Carl dousing Champagne up into the stands. I hope he finds his way back.

Cool stuff.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 07:05 AM) Any word on if Mark is asking for some kind of a "no trade" clause? If he got a full no trade clause I would be surprised (ie over the life of the contract) but you never know, it is obviously a possibility and if the Sox were to give one of those out to any player it would probably be Mark. Also, there have been absolutely no reports aside the possibility of a 5th year option (the only things reported aside from that are the Dollar amounts and years). QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 07:28 AM) There is, they did not allow Arod to take less money to go to the Red Sox. Its not exactly the same as ARod wanted to modify his current contract, but it is an instance of the union sticking its nose into contract negoitiations. Still, I find a major difference in a player giving back money from an already signed contract and a player taking a home town discount. I also think 14 mill is more than fair for Buehrle per season. The only thing the union would have any sort of case about is him taking a 4 year deal as opposed to the 6 or 7 he could get on the open market (worth a maximum of 16-17 million per year).

What article are you referring to? I'm interested in reading this. I find it pretty ludicrous anyone can predict a loss of 6 MPH to a guys fastball. I can see someone predicting arm problems from someone but based on what I've seen from Poreda I don't see any major flaw in his deliver that would make him more prone to an arm injury than any other pitcher in baseball.

I'm hoping Haluska can turn into a Fred Hoiberg/Jason Kapono type player. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Banner time: "2nd round pick 2007 nba draft" Don't forget the *clap clap clap*. Don't worry, I got nothing else to be proud of right now. We lost our super star recruits that were coming in and our freshman sensation. Its gonna be a few years till anything good happens with basketball and the University of Iowa. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) s***, Jamar Smith didn't get drafted? You know who did...Adam f***ing Haluska. BOOO YA -
QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) Sounds like a lot of posturing and BS, too. These "unknown sources" have an interest in getting the price for MB and Jose as low as possible. "Vasquez isn't the same pitcher" - what a crock...he's EXACTLY the same pitcher...great stuff, but doesn't put it together and makes a few mistakes each game. His ERA was terrible his last year in ARizona. These guys aren't objective and have agendas. They're playing the media, just like KW. (one disadvantage of dealing with Boston is that the red sox have their own full-time media department - ESPN). Vazquez isn't the same pitcher and I say that in a good way.

I'm onto it, put in to get an update on Richar.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) What does Kemp have to do with Razor? Razor was the manager of the Charlotte Knights last year. It was Chris Cron (who is no longer their manager, Rafael Santana is) - the 2006 Birmingham Barons manager that he took a swing at. By the way, why was Cron demoted from AA Birmingham Barons manager to being the Rookie league Great Falls manager? What happened there? Does anyone know? Cron was a roving guy and I think they wanted him to go back to doing such. I can't specifically speak but I know in the past he indicated he was interested in being more of an assignment guy who went around and than just managed a team for half of a season (but I don't remember the exact details of it anymore). Maybe someone else remembers better than me.

I hate the Gray pick. But Curry and Noah....YES. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Contreras and Dye for Kemp and Billingsley... get it done KW Kemp and Razor will be fine once they are on the same thing. Add Betemeit and I'm in. Although I would make that deal without Wilson. Still, I've proposed trades since the days of SoxNet that would bring Betemit to Chicago and I'd love to see him here.
-
I am very happy the Bulls went with Noah. He fits the Bulls system so much more than a guy like Hawes would (the more I think about it, the more I like it). No he isn't the low post solution, but he's another good athlete that will make the Bulls an even better up-tempo offense and an even better defensive team. Noah can also get tons of minutes off the bench as the squad slowly transitions him to replace Wallace in a couple years. While Hawes will be a better offensive player, he also is a far worse athlete and would not have been much of a fit in the up-start Bulls offense (that truly relies on the defense making the stops and getting out in transition and getting easy buckets...although they are also a good half court team based on all the ball movement). Pax still has some work to do though.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) quit holding out, fruitcake I told you, I don't know anything at all about the Buehrle talks. I really haven't heard any good things in a while about what is going on within the org so your guess is as good as mine. Only thing I heard is something from a Dodgers connection I know who mentioned the Dodgers were interested in Contreras. Obviously they are also interested in Dye but it sounded like the Dodgers are kind of scared about Jermaine. Based on that it makes me think either they package Dye to get him more valuable (ie with a Contreras) or pretty much throw him on the DL and let him get to 100% and hope he has about 10-15 games prior to the deadline where he can show he's healthy. However, I'm solely basing my Buehrle prediction on the fact that the Dodgers were not actively considering Buehrle an option (but this guy wouldn't have any inside knowledge on the Sox org). I also have absolutely no idea if any names have been thrown around...just the fact that they have interest (the person I talked to is very low level).
-
I have nothing concrete or anything like that. Just saying I got a good feeling an announcement will be made tomorrow. I have heard some rumblings that the Dodgers may be interested in Contreras (don't know if there is much too them cause I'm sure the Dodgers are interested in plenty of guys).
-
I'm leaning to it pretty much being done.
-
I told you all yesterday....bring out the brooms and the Sox delivered.
