QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) i really liked ben kweller when sha sha came out. It really was one of those high school albums. BUt man his last two albums have been beyond disappointing. The new one i could barely get through. except for this is war, that was a goodie This is war is awesome. I've just been listening to various things of Kweller and I give him credit for kind of going with the classic rock genre. Some of his songs are a bit poppy but its still a nice change of pace, imo.
  2. QUOTE(Gage Loves Me @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) Ummmm hi. I'm new here, and since there is nowhere to introduce myself, I'm not gonna introduce myself. I'm here to take over this thread. Let's go Rangers. You may become the first member ever to have all his posts in one thread....CHUMP. Oh and Go Islanders
  3. QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) Right off the top of my head it's the game where Bevington went to bring in a relief pitcher and didn't have anyone warming up. The white flag trade while only 3 1/2 games out of first place ranks right up there. Other than the 10/26/2005, my favorite memory is Bo Jackson, after coming back from hip replacement surgery, hitting a game winning, pinch hit home run versus the Mariners to clinch the '93 division. Worse...Angel/Sox game with about a 19-1 outcome in favor of the Angels. In addition I'd say the Jose Paniagua game was quiet the debacle (even though we won). Best moments...being at the ALCS games in Anaheim (technically non world series) as well as that Dodgers/Sox game where the Sox came back to beat the Dodgers with AJ's walkoff hit.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) I suppose Stewart became more expendable with Toby on the roster, but Lujan seems like a total project, and Stewart would have been nice to have around if AJ or Toby went down for some insurance. It's clear Lujan has far more upside, but the C spot seems like an odd area for the Sox to deal away. We have a backup for the next couple years and a starter for a couple years. Chris Stewart was never going to be a starter and as such we had a superior backup in Hall on the roster. That means by the time a bench spot opens up both Lucy/Hernandez will likely be waiting in the wings (maybe not as starters but for a spot) so there was absolutely no point in keeping Stewart. The fact that we got an insane arm out of the deal to boot is a mega coup. Kenny is as shrewd as any GM in baseball when it comes to deals like this and I am a believer that you can never have too many arms like this in your system and quite frankly I think this could turn into a steal (and since I never think Stewart will be more than a backup, I see little downside in this deal considering our current options at catcher at the ML level).
  5. Wow...we've had some awful games as of late. Should have won at least 4 of them and instead have lost 5 of 6.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) Now that I think about it, Iowa Asst. Craig Neal could be a solid candidate. He's from Washington, IN, about 45 minutes from Evansville. Maybe they can hire him quick enough to have him talk Tyler Zeller into staying "home" and turning the program around? Okay, a pipe dream maybe, but an interesting thought. Thinking a bit more on it, the best choices I can think of right now are: 1. Craig Neal 2. Marty Simmons 3. Brad Brownell 4. Lennox Forrester Forrester is a Bradley assistant who was on Jim Crews Evansville staff for 10 years. Forrester came to Evansville from an Oklahoma JC highly heralded. He was injured before he ever played a game at UE and never played for them. Crews kept him on scholarship and gave him a grad assistantship. He stayed on staff for 10 years. I remember meeting Lennox at a part the night of his recruiting visit. We talked for about 20 minutes, so I will take all the credit in the world for success so far. ;-) No, you can't have Craig Neal. He's our superstar recruiting and Alfords right hand man.

Diggin Ben Kweller right now. Its a much more oldie sound for new music and its a nice change of pace.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) You know, I'd really like to be interested in soccer, but the MLS games that I have watched just don't do it for me. I know that they have a Fox Sports channel that you can order as a package, but I really wish someone (other than ESPN Deportes) picked up some of the European league soccer games. I'd love to catch a Madrid/Barcelona or Chelsea/Arsenal game, but they're rarely on. Also, boo Fifa Soccer 2007 for 360 for only carrying six leagues. Fox Sports World is a part of a lot of digital cable packages and has a lot of premiership games on. I usually wake up to them early in the morning and watch them a bit (especially Saturday mornings now that there is now college football to wake up too).
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 05:54 AM) Him and (my guess) 80% of the rest of the MLB players, I'll toss in there any professional sports player, don't take responsibility, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Heck, even outside of professional sports you have people all over the world blaming everyone else but themselves for problems/situations they get into (I'm not really talking about major problems, even something stupid like someone getting in trouble for not showing up in time....blaming traffic or there friend or whatever).
  10. Ya and I've seen some crazy videos with guys and gals doing some pretty cool snowboarding tricks.
  11. So per year he is going to make ~ 20 million more than the rest of the league. Wow.
  12. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) He should go with the "Expect the worse, Hope for the best" plan. It's just like someone having sex for the first time. It would be more satisifying to have bad expectations and then get blow away by something or You go in there with great expectations and you will be dissapointed if something comes up a little short. But don't take my word on it. I can't help but
  13. Awesome stuff as always Statman.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:33 AM) Once they started to find the soft spot in the zone they looked awesome offensively. Randle had a really nice game. He FINALLY started to drive to the basket again instead of chucking up outside shots. Basically every time he drove it resulted in a dunk, layup, assist, or foul. That's what he needs to do on a nightly basis. Also, McBride finally put the orange thing in the hoop on a consistent basis. We let Iowa back in the game again at the very end with stupid turnovers, but made enough free throws to hang on. Needed that win for sure, phew. Without Randle you guys would have been toast. Damn, it would have been nice to have that road win. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 07:35 AM) Offensively, he is far more skilled than Oden IMO. Durant >>> Oden right now at basketball. Of course Oden plays a tougher position and has all the skill sets so he'll be the #1 pick, but a team will be getting an absolute superstar when they draft Durant.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I wouldn't care if they were a bad team. But for a while I thought they had the players and talent to hang with any team. I still believe that, but I'm starting to think they might be one impact player short. They just don't have the finishers on the club right now, and they still haven't figured out that you need to win on the road every so often. We took advantage of a soft schedule but have again had trouble closing out good teams. We should have a couple more wins and I am dissapointed we didn't get those wins because upper echelon teams do that and right now we are basically teetering between being a good team and an upper echelon team. We are in the East so obviously we have a chance, but I still don't consider us upper echelon until we consistently beat both good teams and light up on the bad ones.
  16. I don't think this is a shock. He's no longer good enough to be the star of European soccer, but he's still enough of a star and good enough to be the entire face of MLS. I think the hope was that Freddy Adu could develop into that but he's vastly over-rated at this stage of his career (so is Beckham, but thats another debate) and Adu will be doing the right thing and heading to Europe in a couple years (he wants to go at 18, but I can't possibly seeing him be ready; at least Adu will get playing time now that he's in Salt Lake City). So is Beckham's entire contract >>>> entire payroll of MLS soccer?
  17. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) I am not ashamed to admit I like that show. I'd like to see them switch the genders though. Have hot guys and nerdy girls. Although, knowing guys, they would probably still get with the nerdy girls given no other options. So maybe it wouldn't work. . . Thats cause nerdy girls can be really hot. So you are probably right about the guys. Still I don't see why they wouldn't consider changing it up for a season just as a change of pace.
  18. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 09:01 AM) Little trivia (side note) did you know that Baywatch was the first show to have closed captions? I guess it makes sense cause I'm sure millions of people had that show on mute while they watched it.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) I had the biggest crush on the pink ranger from the Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger series growing up. Of course, I think any kid who watched the show did. Good old Amy Jo Johnson.
  20. Anna Nicole Smith and Pam Anderson. Never was a huge fan of either (I'm talking about there hay-days too). Anna was always a bit big for me while Pam was pretty good looking but I don't think she was near as pretty as a lot of other girls, she just happened to be running on the beach a lot (ah what a classic show).
  21. I admit, I caught an episode of Beauty and the Geek last week and it was absolutely hillarious. First time I had ever seen it, but the concept leads to great TV.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) I listen to mine at work for about 4 hours a day, and so does everybody else (shows how productive we are). I think my productivity increases with music.
  23. Jack is awesome. I may wait a couple weeks though so I build up a collection in my DVR so I can run through them relatively quickly.

QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) well, i don't really know what you were expecting then. and also, recently i gave domino the prize of being the worst directed major movie of all time. I don't think its story gives it worst of all time but it is also bad. I think at one point i counted 21 cuts in 25 seconds. IT is the most obnoxious thing i've ever seen. It gives me motion sickness. Ugh, i think i only continued watching because it was on HBO and because i wanted to see what else i could laugh at. Tony scott is f***ing awful. This is the same reason i hated man on fire. The man couldn't do an extended take if you threatened to cut his finger off. Wow, Man on Fire is such an awesome action movie. You are the first person I've ever heard knock it.
  25. I started bringing my ipod into work again (stopped doing it a couple months back) and I forgot how nice it is to listen to music/podcasts while I work.
