  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 05:57 AM) I'm pretty confident Davis isn't going to be here anymore after this season. This team's probably going to fall out of the top 25, after this week. We've lost 3 of 4, and then we go to Wisconsin on Wednesday. I'm not that confident that we can avoid a second two game losing streak. Yes, Davis really got hurt by the injuries to DJ. Who knows what would have happened with Duke and UConn, if he was in the lineup. However, I'm pretty confident to say that we would've turned some of the uglier losses on our record into wins, with him in the lineup (Indiana State, Iowa, Minnesota). The program will probably even take a bigger slide, if they have to fire Davis, because so many of the players are here because of him. However, I think I'm ready for that. This is getting old. Once again, under-rating Iowa. We beat ya guys fair and square
  2. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Wisconsin could be in for a real free fall. You could see it coming the last few games, just not where they need to be to win games. Better get their act together or NIT could be in their future. Ya, talk about one loss setting a team into a total collapse. Of course the overall record is still rock solid, but they will have to end the free fall if they want a tourney birth. They once looked like a lock, but they will have to step up and play reasonably solid down the stretch (not amazing or anything, but solid enough). Cause they have some awful losses.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) All the Illini fans were ripping the Iowa fans for storming the court after they beat the Illini. How do they explain storming the court after a loss to lowly PSU? Don't ask me. We were an unranked team who had beaten freaking IU at home. IU which was ranked 11th in the country and they also stormed the court with a win over than undefeated and highly ranked Illinois. I see no reason to knock fans for doing that. Sure, if we were Duke that would be a problem, but Iowa isn't Duke. That said I am ever so scared for our collapse in Evanston this week. I'm also shocked to see Iowa alone atop the big 10 this late in the season with Alford as coach. Man I hope they somehow keep this up.
  4. Cripes...Iowa wins by 28. Wow, I am shocked they were able to put up that many points. Obviously they were on fire. I do think one of the big keys to watch is to see if Horner losing the brace helps the rest of the offense. Last year you wouldn't be able to play soft d on Horner, but this year (with the brace) he would basically shoot up misses for ya when left open. Didn't have the night he had against Purdue but just judging by the %'s it looked like he was again shooting the ball more like the old Horner and not the one we've seen most of this season. Haluska with another nice night. He's going to have to continue to grow because if this team is going to do anything next year it will be up to Adam cause the rest of our starters are gone at the end of the year. Which is why thus far this has been just an awesome year. I hope they can keep it up, but if they are able to improve their ball movement on offensive possessions and continue to play tough defense, I think Iowa has a shot. Although I still fear how we've played on the road and we do tend to play down to our level of competition. Still, hell of a win for the Hawks.
  5. QUOTE(Nokona @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) Hour away from Iowa/Mich. Should be a great game. Ya, I wish it were televised. Imo, its the most important game of the weekend. I realize Uconn IU has glamor, but this is two of the 3 best teams in the big 10 (standings wise, cause I don't think Michigan or Iowa are better than MSU) nor do I think the Illini are. That said MSU hasn't shown up every night and they've paid that price. Wish I coudl see the game. It would be a huge win for the Hawks big 10 chances. Gotta protect home court.

QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) I keep hearing how bad it is everywhere yet it is rated pretty damn well on every site and most reviews of it. I know i have zero interest in seeing it. One joke being told just over and over in a different way. I'll pass.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) I would like to see the whole list. Dallas/Fort Worth HAS to be on that list about 5 times too, and I hit about 3 of them on my way to work. Same with the LA/OC area. In fact, I'd expect probably 7 on that list

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) I am thinking about renting The Aristocrats and it sounds like it will be either a riot, or horrible... Without scanning 80 pages here, what did people think of it??? I've seen more than a few posts in this thread saying how horrible the film was.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) My wife was trying to tell me what he said, but it sounded like a lot of double-speak. The two things I could gather from what she told me were: Dave never really answered the question of why he "vanished" or whatever. and He thinks he wants to return to the show. Ultimately, I don't really care. The time away has cooled me on him, and the show. My moms watching it and she's like deaf (not really but the volume is on max) and he said something about being willing to go back to comedy central. Thats about the only part of the whole thing I heard. I despise day time TV with a passion.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) LOL, I am sure Michael Axelrod is thrilled that BOTH Davis' will be in town more often now. Oh man...I so want Davis back on the Bulls. That would be great.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Dont worry about pimpin your site, I read it, and I actually cited it the other day. Ya, if anything pimp your site more Mean Gene
  12. IIIRC he's supposed to be hella fast.
  13. Watching ESPN this morning they mentioned Edgerrin James said something about him probably not being back in Indy? I assume he's a FA this year, just like Alexander is?
  14. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Please, stop with the Everett talk. He was not a reasonable option at that price. The fact is his slide more than anything else is what pushed Thomas back into the lineup when his ankle was only 70% healed. If Frank hadn't come back the White Sox likely lose the division to the Tribe & miss out on the wild card as well. Ozzie needs to face that reality & acknowledge it. His 40 ab comment was poorly thought out. Both Kenny & JR dropped the ball in their handling of Frank at the very end. I don't blame Kenny for stringing Thomas along til the day they signed Kong because the fact is Thomas remained an option until Kong signed. But both of them should have sought Thomas out (they had the opportunity at the winter meetings) & dealt with Thomas personally. Explain to him how it played out & express their regret they weren't able to find a solution that included him. Thomas is not just any other player. His stature in the league is such that he deserved special consideration. If Kenny or JR want to attempt to mend the fences they should both seek Thomas out now & convince him to show up at the White House gathering. They need to lower the chip on their shoulders for a minute & remind themselves & Thomas that the White Sox might not have been World Champions if not for Thomas re-igniting the offense when they needed it most. Frank dropped the ball for being such a prick during his tenure with the Sox. I realize he's not as bad as some people think, but he isn't this great guy in the clubhouse either. Note: I'm not knocking Frank the person, from the couple times I've met him he seems like a nice enough guy, doesn't mean he's a great guy in the clubhouse. Fact of the matter is he tends to lean more on the selfish side.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) I do believe Gload is your insurance policy for Thome. How dare you even mention Sosa's name, the Nats wouldn't give him up for anything. If Thome were to go down for an extended period of time (or something that was career threatening) I think you'd see the Sox try to plug in someone in-house, but assuming the thing happened early enough in the season, if that didn't work I'm fairly confident that Kenny would go out and try to find someone and realize the move didn't work (thats if its a bad injury). Plus everything depends on where the team sits at the time. Lots of things can happen but we have a few potential in house guys if Thome goes down (they won't be great) but they should be able to do a semi similar job to what Carl did (and if that doesn't work you can find a mediocre DH type bat or better via the trade market). As long as our pitching staff stays healthy and produces (which is an if) I'm confident we'll be back in the playoffs. How far will they go, who knows, it all depends on who gets hot at the right time. That said I think Minny and Cleveland are two of the better teams in all of baseball. I expect two teams in our division to make the playoffs.
  16. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Am I the only one who got a little spooked by the articles written today? Not so much what Frank said because I agree with him. All things considered if you have a choice between choosing a healthy Frank or a healthy Thome you're picking Frank. But some of these other articles had me going .. "say it ain't so!" Is it really true that GM's around the league were expecting Thome's body to break down? Is this really why the Cubs passed on the discount he was offering them? Are we looking at the potential of a Gonzo when it comes to Thome's back problems? From a risk assessment standpoint is Thome at $22M/3yr a safer investment than say a combination of Thomas & White/Piazza/ for roughly that same $? In that scenario Thomas remains with the White Sox in much the same role as 2005. What happens if Thome goes on the DL? Who is going to fill that role? Borchy? Sosa? I'm taking the healthy Thome, simply because even when healthy your not getting the Frank of old. I'd definately take the numbers Thome put up two years ago. I'm hoping we get it, but I'm still very cautious about Thome. He's old and coming off an elbow injury, plus he has the nagging back issue.
  17. Thats awesome. Stories like this are one of the things that makes me even prouder to be a Sox fan. Obviously we are coming off the greatest season in franchise history (at least that any of us can remember), but the stuff the Sox do for the community is above and beyond what any other organization I've lived near or followed has done. Its really great how JR and the rest of the ownership, the players, and everyone else try there best to do the little things. I'm glad some of my money went towards this good cause.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) The total gym seems even more strange. At least the bowflex allows you to do normal excercises. Hence the fact I've never done anything on it. I looked at and got all confused not knowing what the hell I was supposed to do on it. She says it works good though so what do I know.
  19. Chisoxfn replied to Steff's topic in SLaM
My step mom has tried both and preferred total gym. I've never used total gym, but I used a bowflex a few times and it just felt awkward compared to free weights.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) That was a blatant foul. The replay made it look even more blatant. He was HAMMERED.
  21. Wow...they go for another 2 and geeze he's hammered on the layup and no call. Total horses*** call. Although I think at that point I'm going for a 3.
  22. 3 point game again. Reddick hit deuce free throws.
  23. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Chris is having a great season. But he's also lucky. I've never seen a season where rookies are getting as little P/T as this year. He is playing awesome though.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Sweet first half by Iowa. Purdue has led the whole half, and Iowa looks brutal. At the break, they trail Purdue 33-25. I'd LOVE for this upset to happen Iowa got there s*** together in the 2nd half. Horner looked awesome. This is the Horner I remember from last year. Definately a different player without the brace. Iowa's defense clamped down in the 2nd half and forced some turnovers and they started protecting the ball. Shockingly, Alford did a great job making 2nd half adjustments. They showed quite a few different defenses and were able to confuse Purdue for a good part of the half. Purdue did end up shooting exceptionally against Iowa. Considering our road troubles this year, I take this as a positive as they were able to come back against a poor team on the road, but its still big 10 play and Purdue was shooting ridiculously well for a while.
