I'd think it would be right around the 10,000 from the ALCS. They aren't gonna get more than 1000 from the new season tix plan and I can't see them giving up much more tix to corp and all that crap, since I'd assume they'd be giving out the same amount or near it for each round. Maybe 8,000 per?
-
How the hell is that possible? The season ticket holder base is at most 12,000 right? And than some were offered the right to buy double that which would be a max of 24,000 but I bet half of them did it (at most), meaning 18000 out of your season ticket holders. Than MLB probably grabs up a couple thousand. But if capacity is 38k (someone tell me if I'm wrong). That leaves 20,000 seats between MLB and us. Does MLB take 15,000 tickets to give to different people?
-
Curious, how many tix do you think will be available for each game? I figure 18000 have been bought up by season tix holders and than maybe another couple thousand to MLB and others, leaving roughly 15000 for each game? Is that a good estimate?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) If Team Gage scores big, don't forget little old me. [Today is the first time I ever used the praying smiley, so this is serious. ] Here's to hoping. I'd love to get 2 sets of 4 because than I think I could get quite a few of us Soxtalkers in and I just hope as many of us as possible get to enjoy the experience of a world series game

I haven't looked, but I'd guess hotel prices could get jacked up with the Sox in the series (don't know how many people are traveling in). Of course typically weekend rates are cheaper because the business travelers are usually at home. Sometimes a great place to look or call is a Hyatt or one the nicer hotels that cater to business people. They tend to be very expensive during the week, but they usually are wide open on weekends and sometimes you can end up getting awesome rooms at a great price (just because a lot of people don't even consider checking with them when trying for a room). I know I"ve stayed at Hyatts (in Pittsburgh and Phoenix area) for as low as 49 a night on a weekend. Not saying it will be that in Chicago, but you never know. Priceline is always a good bet in Chicago too.

That last one rocks. Crede's face says it all.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) i know that in demand events sell FAST on ticketmaster... im gonna go to chicago on friday and come home on monday. the goal of course is to get tickets for both of the first two home games. anyone here have experience with ticketmaster online and have any pointers as to how to get seats before they sell out? I tried googling it for about an hr at work to see if there was some secret. No luck at all. I have recruited my mom, dad, and now 4 of my good friends to try for em. I'm working on getting some more people in.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) we can most definitely still be pissed off Someone could walk up to me and punch me in the face right now and I'd still have a smile (if I had my teeth still). I am gonna do everything possible to get to game 1 or 2, but if I don't, its a great consolation just thinking that I'll be able to watch the Sox play in the WORLD SERIES on tv. And its for once not because I'm the White Sox in a video game

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Theyre making a Cabin Fever 2? I didnt understand the first one, anyone care to shed some light on this? Like the ending made me think i wasted time watching. It was a horrid movie. It figures, I think its the only thing that guy from Boy Meets World Did aside from the tv show (which is one of my all time fav shows from when I was a kid..hell every once in a great while if nothing else is on I'll still watch it). I must be the only person that actually enjoyed the Resident Evil's. I just thought those chicks whooping ass was pretty cool. Some sweet action scenes, not a movie you'd want to see in a theatre, but I can't say the movie wasn't entertaining. Hell, thats why I vote Transporter 2 as one of my all time favorite movies. I was crying for at least 10 minutes of that movie because I was laughing so hard.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) I thought i was the only one here who saw donnie darko... and loved it. Are you kidding qwerty. Its a damn good movie and I know its one a lot of people on here have talked about liking in the past.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Am I the only person who doesn't laugh during that movie? Now I know why your so damn weird

I don't care what ESPN, Jay Mariotti or any other person says about the Sox or Cubs or vice versa. All I care is what my feelings are on the Sox and I am really pumped up and I know 99.999% of all of us are too. We could be last on sportscenter following a world series victory and I wouldn't give a s***. All I care about is winning 4 more games this year.

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) who are all these people that are calling if they are not brokers?? Sox fans that may have been turned off by the strike or people that were casual Cub fans that have watched this team and taken a liking to their style. They want to see the series badly and think they'd like season seats (maybe for there company or just for themselves) so they come in and buy them up now. Heck, there may be a lot of Sox fans who long said if the Sox make the playoffs and do well I'd buy and now they have an extra incentive since it would give them world series tickets. I would guess they may get 1000 seats sold from this at most. I couldn't see much more than that, but I do think you'll see a big time increase in the season ticket base and I could be wrong, they could get even more deposits than just that. If I lived in Chicago I'd be damn tempted to do it. Find the cheapest package, buy 4 seats and find 3 other people to go in 4th's with the tix and it wouldn't be all that bad, especially if your a big fan and would have the opportunity to hit up a lot of games as is.

2005 Soxtalk Hall of Fame Balloting
Chisoxfn replied to southsider2k5's topic in Soxtalk Awards Archive
I have a little thing in mind for the Rally Crede, but am waiting for the season to end. -
Great idea by the Sox. Being in the position I'm in trying to get tix, I hate it, but its a great job by Brooks and the marketing department.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) If I had tickets for this, I wouldn't sell, no way - unless I am 1,000 miles away and had to sell 'em for face to some fellow soxtalkers. Ya, if I had tickets there is no way anyone but me would be sitting in em.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Anyone know if some pro teams suspend season ticket holders for scalping their tickets... ? I've heard it so many times.. but wonder if it's just urban legend. Can't believe that would be true. I mean we sold our tickets for the Yanks-Angel series on the Angels website for 3 times facevalue. I'm assuming if we can sell it through there venue at a higher price, you can sell them through any venue at a higher price (assuming you follow the laws).
-
Welcome to Soxtalk....hopefully we can get 4 more wins this year!!!
-
Totally unrelated note, but Brandon Wood (SS for Angels) hit 4 HR's in his debut in the AFL (at least thats what I heard someone say).
-
I know we all blasted him when he sent Rowand earlier in the series with no one out, so I think we should give him his props for sending Aaron on Crede's infield signal. It was an agressive call and I don't think many 3rd base coaches would have sent him. It put pressure on Kennedy, whose throw was off-line and late. Also Rowand really came up huge that inning, going from 0-2 to drawing the walk and did a great job hustling on the base paths.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 05:49 AM) My Dad is a Dodgers fan.....and for the first time ever....he said Congratulations on your Sox...I hope they win it all. Pretty cool. Tons of those in Iowa surprisingly. All my dads best friends were Dodger fans and a few were Sox fans. Odd considering you have the contigent of Cubs/Cards/Dodgers more often than not in Iowa. Oh and the twins.

QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) I love the Sox. So does my Dad. Even though I'm out at school in Washington DC, I've talked to my dad after every White Sox winner during the postseason. I could never explain how many father-son conversation of mine have been driven by White Sox talk. I can talk with Dad about the Sox for hours. I attribute our close relationship to the White Sox above all else. Every time I see the end of Field of Dreams when Costner says, "Hey Dad, wanna have a catch?"...I get teary-eyed. My father and I love each other vicariously through the Sox. Anyone got similar stories? My Dad is not a fan of one team I'm a fan of, but I can say, just like you, that sports helped make my relationship with him what it is today. I can talk to him about sports for hr's and hr's at a time and we love giving each other guff over our teams and saying how the other persons team stinks. I was glad he was sitting next to me in Anaheim when the Sox clinched to go to the series and I just wish he didn't have a prior engagement that he can't break otherwise he'd be there in Chicago as well.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) It probably would have taken me a week to spot that. A week, he pointed it out to us and I starred at his sig for a couple minutes until I finally noticed it

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Why would we text when we're sitting next to eachother.. to the Ticketmaster Gods..

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) Duh... I'm exhausted today. Same here...I could not get to sleep last night, woke up for my morning classes and was so damn jazzed (usually I'm all tired) but I still got adrenaline pumping. Regardless, expect text messages for the rest of the playoffs, it seemed to work well in Anaheim cause they found ways to win.
