BIG BOPPERS BLAST BOSOX
Welcome aboard
-
New York at Los Angeles
I wasn't at last nights game, but I can vouch for Anaheim fans. They show up a little late, but they've gotten pretty good at getting loud. In fact, I was never at a louder stadium than when they were in the playoffs and eliminated the Yankees a couple years ago (that was insane). I remember the only time you could even hear anyone was when there was a break in the action (ie in between innings). I had to sell my seats for the 1st round (3 tests this week and a major project due, so I couldn't be distracted...only time off was to watch the Sox game). If they make game 5 I'll be there though.

Hey...Whoever did the banner...
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Thanks. I got home at 9PM and had to watch the game since I missed it due to work. Anyway, going to the Hawks game tomorrow, so I'll get a Garcia banner up late tomorrow. Going to see em play the Ducks ehh (should be a good game). I'm looking forward to when they come into Anaheim this year.

Good stuff Steve and looks like you guys had some solid seats (nice pictures from the game too). You guys are going back tomorrow right? Hopefully you bring the same kind of luck back to the park tomorrow

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) From a couple douches to another... thomas is not really liked around the league. He's going to be in for a shocker when he meets Skiles. If Skiles can't get his ass in gear, no one can. This has the potential to turn into a pretty high profile move (Tim Thomas has always had the tools) or it could turn into a disaster to where the Bulls will just unload him to any taker out there (luckily he's only here for a year at the most if he does stink). You know Skiles is the type of guy that will knock a player and really point out his flaws (to the player) in order to help the guy get better. Its why he's such a damn good coach.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Mike james is a very good defender. He is actually kinda known for it. Shows what I know. I'm just basing it on the handful of games I saw him play in and I saw him burned defensively. I've always been kind of impressed with Alston though. So chalk one up for me in the wrong column

Arizona Fall League starts tonight
Damn sorry guys, but this is a bad week. I'm gonna be back hard at work with FS starting next week, but I have 3 midterms this week, plus the Sox in the playoffs (and if there is a game 5, I'm gonna catch the Angels Yanks game) so I pretty much got all non-watching time spent on studying (and my Saturday afternoon football/soccer league).

QUOTE(SS Gload @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) ESPN HD is awesome, this week is gonna rule, having the sox whoop some bosox tail on hd and then watch my buckeyes take on penn state at happy valley in HD. For college football are they actually broadcasting in Full HD? I know Notre Dame is (when they are on NBC) and those games are flat sick. I haven't watched one on ESPN yet, but I have noticed how CBS and ABC don't broadcast college games in Full HD (where its in 1080i). They should though and I'm slowly noticing more of the stations getting HD feeds (if only I could get the comcast high def feed...drools).

Hope you guys win..
Thanks for the kind words wiredawg. That was a good battle down the stretch and right now I'm focused on this year, but when the off-season roles around (hopefully with the Sox wearing a ring) I'm definately gonna be looking at the Indians. They have quite a few key free agents (millwood and most of there pen) but they definately have a great nucleus and are going to once again be a big time rival of the Sox (and I have to believe the Twins will also rebound, they were ravaged with injuries this year). The AL Central is no longer the doormat of the AL, in fact, I think its got a shot to be one of the best divisions in all of baseball the next couple years. Once again thanks for the kind words and hopefully you'll stop by along the way and in the off-season to discuss baseball with fellow baseball fans

QUOTE(SS Gload @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) I DVR'd it, so i have the game saved on my cable box. I don't know how i could transport it to you though. It would be cool to get though because its in HD too. How sweet is that HD feed. I specifically went over to my moms watch to watch the game cause she has HD. Man was it beautiful. ESPN rarely does there games in full HD so its gonna be sweet with the entire playoffs in real HD.

QUOTE(sufferingsoxfan @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) You probably won't believe this but I caught Paulie's just barely foul ball in the 1st. I understand that this was on the espn feed and that i was featured. Does anyone have a tape or tivo of the game. I would appreciate a copy of it, Thanks and go White Sox!! Oh ya, you were on there. Wish I recorded it for ya, but I'm guessing someone here DVR'd it. Nice grab, you were going insane with your buddy. Heck the whole area was going crazy.

I'm only looking at tomorrow. Whether the Sox won 3-2 or 14-2, the result is the same, were up 1-0 in the series. Sure we beat them bad yesterday, but a loss is a loss and all it takes is a win tomorrow by Boston and things are knotted up with Boston now having home field advantage. Hopefully Mark Buehrle can pitch well and the bats will be able to put the pressure on Boston and come up with some key hits. IIRC, Boston has hit Mark around pretty good in years past (especially Manny). Come on White Sox!!!

Its funny, I read that article and it says James is a defensive stopper...my ass. Alston is the better of the two defensively, imo. I can't say I've watched a whole lot of either though.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Once more no place to really put this but it's a good trade for the rockets... http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...ston_for_james/ Agreed. James is a good scorer when he gets hot, but Alston played terrific last year and is a pretty solid defender (something James is not). Definately a very good move. I'm guessing the Raptors made this deal because they wanted nothing to do with Alston's attitude (if I recall he had a few runs ins with their coach last season).

Hey...Whoever did the banner...
All credit goes out to Mr. Showtime. He does about 99% of our banners and always seems to be up to the task. Showtime....YES

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) now 4-0 yanks lol so much for Cy Bartolo His back has really been bugging him his past couple starts. He's actually quite suspect because of it. Prior to re-injuring it a couple weeks ago, he had pretty much been unhittable.

Chris Berman
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) I was asking myself wheres my mute button--not where has his hair gone Compared to the Fox crew, these guys were awesome (ie Buck/McCarver) I want to actually listen to Wonder Dog instead of these dufuses (ya I botched that). Piazza was pretty solid to listen to. And I've never really minded Sutcliffe.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) If that is true, then they do one hell of a lighting job. Berman's comb-over has to rank with the worst in the history of celebrity comb-overs. Doesn't even come close to the Trump. People everywhere could try but no one can ever accomplish what Donald has done with his hair. Its amazing, I've decided he must know he's gonna get as much play as he wants since he's loaded, so why even bother with his hair. Remember, I can't stand Trump.

I just hope the Bulls get Davis back. I can't see him sticking with the Knicks considering he talked about retiring if he wasn't playing for the Bulls. Hopefully there will be some more verification on this and that indeed he'll be back with the Bulls. Without him the Bulls would lack a true center (he may not be a starter, but he can still give the Bulls quality minutes off the bench and start in a pinch). Plus he's a tremendous leader and just an all around good guy. They have definately made quite a few moves to the surrounding cast and its going to be interesting to see what they are all about. I'm also interested in seeing if Sweetney has worked hard in the off-season and I'm hoping the Bulls really push him (he's always been a little overweight, but has been said to have a really good work ethic) so hopefully they can get him in gear. He's been known to be a horrid defender when he's on the court for an extended period of time because he gets entirely gassed. He's also a bit undersized (height wise) but is a solid rebounder and scorer.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) I'm doing the best I can. This just seemed to be the last resort for the guy. It was the 6th anniversary of a stroke that he had when he almost died. He'd gotten back to normal as much as could be imagined, except for a noticeable limp and some motor problems, but he seemed to be the same mentally. He apparently got into a fight with his dad and his old girlfriend, and then one day just put a gun behind his ear and pulled the trigger. I can't imagine how his mom felt when she found him in his room. Our entire grade is a support system because death seems to surround us. One of my friends and the kid's better friends growing up showed up as I left the funeral home, and said "It f***ing sucks in there, doesn't it?" I couldn't tell him any different. My buddy looked the same but at the same time he didn't, because the kid I knew was full of life, and I, along with others couldn't comtemplate him doing this. When I got there, I just stood in front of the casket, and talked to him without talking. I feel better for it now, but when someone like that dies it always eats at you. We talked to his mom and we could tell she seemed empty. Hell, the kid was a Bears fan to boot, as his obit mention his passion for "DA BEARS". I hate the Bears, but I expect them to win Sunday, just because. I'm going to the funeral tomorrow, and I'll probably feel the worst then. I never told him goodbye before going to college, cause you don't expect this. I've had three funerals before, so it's not like I'm good at handling this. I tend to remain stoic cause I want others to be comforted while I'm around, so it seems like something is right. This sort of thing tears you up, but I plan on being proactive about it, as my family and I plan to contribute to the memorial fund. I also plan on having another "talk" in the future, cause I think that's what'll help the most. I know people feign that they will committ suicide, but now I know I'll take it more seriously. Not that I didn't before, but this will eat at me for a while. Thanks for your thoughts. I just hope he went peacefully. He was an organ and tissue donor. That's the guy I know, who will go out of his way to help others, and I guess he did in the end. Rest in peace buddy, rest in peace. Alex, once again, I'm really really sorry for you and best wishes go out to you, his friends, and all his family.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) That didn't happen a few years ago with Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady. Players will always be interested in coming to a team in Florida because there's no state income tax. But we'd have no room for Peja anyways with Hill and Turkloglu there already. Ben Wallace however........ Umm...check the records, that Bulls team wasn't a winner...this one is. Winning is the only reason those players weren't in Chicago. If it were this team during that off-season Tmac would of signed here immediately.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) I'll believe it when I see it. We are all well aware of Eddy's self admitted work ethic. Eddy supposedly started strapping down and working out a few weeks back and I remember reading he was in good shape. He just hasn't done any basketball playing IIRC.
