    QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Walker with 4 K's in 2 perfect innings. :gasp: Ssssh...don't tell Ozzie
  3. I saw this get mentioned in some thread, so I figured I'd make a post for those going. That is if people are even interested in seeing who's going and where exactly they will be seated.
  4. Hermy. He's done nothing but succeed with the Sox and is pitching despite being in a whole lot of pain. Jenks has a future as a closer, but that future isn't yet. I want to see him get at least another year of experience in the pen before we make him the closer. The nice thing is he'll probably get a little more experience in late relief next season and the Sox will still have Hermy around as well.
  5. Closed because quite frankly this is way too much of a potential jinx.

Going to close this thread. Most of it was cleaned up, but gonna close it to prevent it from heating up again.
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) I said last night that Bartolo Colon would be my CY pick over our two standouts but I'm begining to wonder if Johan Santana might be the guy if he continues to rattle off great starts like today. He needs 5 more wins for serious consideration but he might once again singlehandedly carry the Twins to the playoffs, via the WC of course Colon is who I think will win it unless Buehrle and Garland get hot down the stretch (well one of which). Colon has been a total horse.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) You can get real good calamari or real bad ones. Personally, I think it's gotta to be nice and stringy, and not really hard to chew, and crumbed real nice. Ewww...I can't get past the looks of the stringy ones. I know everyone says they are better, but I like the round pieces that don't look as much like squid
  9. Jim, I'll have you know that two days ago for an interview I had I got taken out to this seafood place and didn't order the Chilean Sea Bass for that reason. My mom drills me with that type of stuff if I go out to dinner with her so now Its starting to take effect when I'm not with her. I had halibut, I'm assuming thats an alright fish to still eat (aside from the mercuy I'm sure I'm ingesting)???
  10. Throw out the records when Iowa and ISU play.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) The Bears will have the #1 defense in the NFL this season. On paper if you look at the D, it has the ability, comming into the season I felt they had a great defense and now after watching the first 4 preseason games. I'm positive this a top 3 defense, if they can stay healthy, #1. A. Brown, Scott/Boone/Johnson, Harris (Future Pro-Bowl DT), Ogunleye (beast) Briggs (great compliment to Brian), Urlacher (4 time Pro-bowler, it's unbelievable how people question his abilities), Hillenmeyer Tillman (Future Pro-Bowl CB, just ask Randy Moss), M. Brown (All-Pro SS, emotional leader of the D), M. Green (Extremely underrated, just look at his career stats), Azumah/Vasher

Holy cripes you talk fast Alex. But I guess I can't make fun of you for having a girls voice But that was kind of cool to listen to.
  13. Burke makes a lot of sense and I'd guess he'd be up. They now have the open 40 spot on the roster to do it too. Chris Young will not be up.
  14. They are like the exact opposite of the Benson's Good writeup and its something I like seeing. I think Danks is gonna be a very very high pick though, but who knows. The guy has some serious tools.

Death Cab's new album comes out on Tuesday. I heard a couple of their new songs at a show in San Diego a few weeks ago and am pumped for the new album.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) During the course of this season, i've slowly turned my girfriend from a casual cubs fan to a casual sox fan. She says that i've made her enough of a sox fan that she wants them to win because she knows it will make me happy (or knows a loss will make me pissed off). Either way, she's been better than expected in dealing with this. She knows not to call during games (often calls 2 minutes after last out), and she won't call or even IM me after a real tough loss. She's a die hard Illini bball fan like i am, so she knows what being passionate for a team is all about. My best friend told me that i can't be with someone who doesn't understand my sports teams obsession. At first i thought it was funny...now i realize he's right. Hence, why you and SNB have hit things off so well
  17. None...but I'm at the bar every Sunday cheering them on.
  18. I'd make that deal. Of course if Pike, Pargo and Griffin are gone the Bulls definately have less depth on the wings. Of course Deng, Duhon, Hinrich, Gordon are quality...plus they have Eddie Basdin (sp??) who I know a lot of people seem to think will be a decent defender (don't know if he can play SF though). Songalia can help out there though and I'm surprised the Kings are this willing to let him get away, IIRC they were always pretty high on him.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Wasn't Schilling also the one who destroyed a QUESTEC? As someone who pitched, I would too. Anything possible to get a bigger zone
  20. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) I made a stop at the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland last summer, and I'm with you. It's not all that great, IMHO. I'm the same way, but I'm not a shelled fish type of person. I love seafood, but when it comes to lobster, crab, and shrimp or for that part anything shelled it just isn't something I enjoy. But swordfish, halibut, ahi tuna, salmon, chilean sea bass...now were talking
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) I found the Mexican equivalent that is also great after a number of beers. Tacos Nortenos. Basically they sit on greasy corn tortillas, add bistek (chopped steak), cilantro, and onions. Some places add white cheese. Grease, beef, onions. Same as a slider. The corn tortillas are small, usually 2 bites if drinking, 3 if not. Added bonus, my favorite place also has a liquor license. Carne Asada Fries....the ultimate in fat and taste

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) I think the donations are a great idea, and I wish I could help. A baby and a home kinda are cramping my style right now though. I am curious why the other thread with the discussions about the players rules got closed though? It didn't seem like any attacks were being made or anyone was causing any trouble... I still wanted to discuss trying to end some of the personal attacks that are still going on here even today. Mike, I won't accept your donations. You've done far too much for this site as is. Heck, I still have no idea what to say about the donations. I've never been much of a fan of asking for them but I'm very appreciative for everyone being so willing. But does this mean you guys will get mad if I show up to the next Sox game in a porsche???
  23. Chisoxfn replied to Stocking's topic in SLaM
All of my gf's have always complained with me about that. My most recent one learned that though and knew not to call during the Sox games, haha. I don't know if thats a good thing or a scary thing.
  24. Like I mentioned, the rumblings I have heard are that Baj wouldn't be part of the 40 man call ups. Things could change though and the Sox would be stupid to not have him up.
