  1. Plus he'd be staying in the same city. I think he would even take a little less for something like that to happen.
  2. To be perfectly blunt its because he sucks and he's a selfish asshole who swings for the fences every single at bat. The guy can't hit the curve (I think teams finally must of stumbled on this board cause for the past 3 years I have constantly b****ed to the fact that all another team would have to do his throw him a curveball eveyr pitch and he would be lucky to make contact). I guess advanced scouts are just a little slow, but they finally figured it out this year. Of course some teams still gave him a fastball and thats one thing Jose can really rip.
  3. Kevin Millwood would have to be it. If their is any truth to him signing for 1-2.5 million on a one year deal I'd be all over signing him, but I still can't see him falling that far.
  4. I could semi agree with that, but I still don't think you can put any fault on PK for the crappy road record. He produced over the course of the season, case closed. But I do think the Sox could replace his numbers semi, plus I would figure Konerko's numbers would regress a bit and fall more in line with his career numbers. PK is a good player, no doubt about it, but he can be replaced or at least semi replaced. It be nice to get a left handed bat in the middle of the lineup, especially if the guy had some speed.
  5. Lol, we were both typing up pretty much the exact same post Wite
  6. Let me state this clearly. If the Sox deal JG/Konerko then they are trading 11.4 million dollars in salary, give or take a few hundred k. They are adding 16 million. Thats a 5 million increase in payroll. However if the Sox budget is going to be 75 million (i think thats a fair estimate with the acquisition of RJ) then the Sox have a total of 12-14 million that they can add this offseason. So after acquiring RJ they would have anywhere from 7 to 9 million left to pick up a 5th starter, sign a reliever, and sign a new 1st baseman or RF. It would be a little tigh, but more then plausible, imo. Acquiring RJ does not end the offseason like many people seem to speculate.
  7. Thats going a little out their wite, implying this team would be better on the road without Konerko. Regardless of his splits, Paulie was a very valuable part of this offense the past season. And it will be a loss not to have him, but Thomas and like you mention a FA will hopefully soften the blow.
  8. For people not wanting to mortgage the future I'll say this. If the Sox go out and sign some of these big name free agnets, they will be giving up draft picks, so in a sense they will still be mortgaging the future. However, If the Sox make any signings I don't expect them to do it until Dec 15th (I think thats the last day teams can offer arbitration).
  9. Ya, an offense that was 3rd in the AL in runs scored this past season. Sure they lose Konerko but they add Thomas and if Levine is right and if my belief is right the Sox, after dealing Konerko, will be signing some type of veteran bat. Whether its Dye, whether its Burnitz, whether Hildalgo, Gibbons, etc. Those names may not sound amazing, but all of them are capable of putting up good numbers.
  10. It would put the Sox as one of the lead stories on sportscenter. It would give the fans a better perception of the organization. It would do so many things and if Randy led the Sox to the postseason, it would give the Sox the front line ace that can carry a team during the playoffs. Ya, RJ would be a hell of a pickup. And I still think the Sox are the frontrunners at this point. If they don't get him, I expect the Sox to still be a part of the deal cause I think the Yanks are the only other team that will get him (Cards don't have the offer, imo) and the Sox will be involved in that deal acquiring Vazquez who I think is their fallback plan.
  11. The one reason I don't suspect Heath of being claimed in the Rule V is that I don't see a team selecting a non "stuff" guy. This isn't a knock on Heath cause their are plenty of these type of guys that succeed. Mark Buehrle is the perfect example and he's one of my favorite pitchers to watch. Heath has proven he can pitch and is Buehrle-esque in a sense. But like Rex says he's got to get into better shape. I think he's on the verge of turning into a good prospect and I definately think he will at least make some appearances at the major league level. It will be really interesting to see what he does this year.
  12. SI can f*** off. They have became a garbage magazine.
  13. They just finished kicking the crap out of the Badgers in Iowa 30-7. The defense played fantastic while Drew Tate overcame 2 early interceptions. Wisconsin was in it early but the second half was all Iowa. Michigan is the co-champ and will be going to the RoseBowl since they beat the Hawkeyes head to head this year. Next up the bowl game
  14. I saw Reynoso pitch once and he got it up their on the gun which kind of surprised me. But it was the Hogs gun and from what I know that gun is a little generous. As far as Smith goes, I think he'll get an invite, Ozzie will get a looksie at him but he'll be in Charlotte at the start of the year. Munoz/Diaz/Baj/Adkins will be the guys competing, imo. You can throw Grilli in their as well.
  15. Lieber was offered a 2yr 12 mill deal from the Yanks reportedly. I think he'd be hard pressed to turn that down. I think a similar offer, maybe over 3 years (3 yr 18-20 mill) could land you Clement. I also think Clement could even consider a 2 yr 12 mill deal, but I think he's going to want another year or two.
  16. I was working on an article on that same subject when you posted that, lol.
  17. Don't worry when the time comes I'll post the other link. But this upgrade is going to go without a hickup.
  18. White Sox Add Six to the 40 Man Roster By Jason Gage FutureSox.com November 19, 2004 The Chicago White Sox purchased the contracts of six minor league players. Pitchers Kris Honel, Sean Tracey, Matt Smith, and Paulino Reynoso were added to the 40 man roster while infielders Casey Rogowki and Pedro Lopez were also added. The moves bring the 40 man roster to 38...MORE
  19. Thats fine, cause to be honest, if Ozzie Guillen was in charge of player personell I think we'd have a team with 9 ozzie's in the field and it would be the worse offensive team in Major Leauge history. I give Ozzie credit for motivating young players at times, but as far as his evaluation skills goes, I think very little of him. I think he knows defense, hard play, and some of the nuances, but in terms of talent and whether a player is good or not, I think he tends to be all over the place. I've long said I think Harris can do it and I firmly believe Ozzie did a s***ty job managing him this season.
  20. The more I think of it, I think Mario is kind of right. Like I've said I'd rather give them Munoz or Diaz, I feel more comfortable giving up one of them then I do Anderson cause I think he's gonna be a good one, although right now IT hink the Sox have him over-rated in terms of readiness. He had a hot streak in Bham, but in general I think some more time in AA would do wonders for him. I don't think he's as advanced as some of the reports say he is. As far as the deal though, I got a feeling Anderson would be the one to go, but I do expect Kenny to get someone back and I'd have to think either Brito or Koyie Hill to be a part of the deal. I'd lean on Brito since it seems like the Dbacks have good size expectations on Hill. Only thing I know about Brito is that Mark Grace would gush over this guy during telecasts but it seemed that the Dbacks kind of gave up on him.
  21. Dan, we don't agree too often with both of us having our quirks, but I think you pretty much are dead on with this list. I could see Lumsden being up ahead of Munoz, but logically Munoz has better production to this point. The Sox didnt' see the real Lumsden till the very end of the season when he got over a dead arm period. He's supposed to have electric stuff and is a gutsy pitcher. Nice guy too. Although personally I would have Sean Tracey ranked right around 7th.
  22. BA always looks at "ceiling" instead of whose actually the best prospect. Its why they hype and fail with so many guys. Its ridiculous how whne a guy throws one 98 MPH that they then report that he "regulary" throws 98. They still are the best their is at covering minors as a whole though, but I think they could be a hell of a lot better. And your right, they definately grade down long time minor league guys even though someone like Rogo, to me, is considered a prospect. I wouldn't rank him top 10 though.
  23. To be honest, two years ago I'd of b****ed up a storm about this, but this is just general stuff. I have no problem with this, it is life. I still think Yan may pan out to something, but I have my doubts. If he didn't have his speed I'd think nothing of the fact. The Wing thing still irks me though. God that pisses me off.
  24. Like I've mentioned a few times. He could be very similar to the Tom Gordon pickup.
