He just came off the disabled list in Charlottel yesterday.

The Trade I'd Make
No, because its not till next year that he can be traded.

The Trade I'd Make
Thats me just making a typo like the fool I am. He's in Winston Salem. I'm not a fan of dealing Crede either, he's one of my favorite players.

Sox's Shoe stomps on Tigers' Johnson
Alomar fails to get the job done and Rowand is thrown out at 3rd, so 1st and 2nd with 1 out for Willie Harris. I almost wonder if Harris thinks about draggin a bunt here. Worse case 2nd and 3rd with Jose up.

Crawford
If the Bulls can dump Erob and JYd to get two guys whose contracts are up at the end of the year, then I dothis deal in a heartbeat. The Bulls are still in rebuilding mode and getting some ending contracts will give the Bulls some serious leverage this offseason. The team is still a year off and then next year they will have been able to see the nucleus grow a bit and get an idea of what to do. Plus AD now has an ending contract, which means he ends up having pretty good trade value for a sign and trade with another team.

Sox's Shoe stomps on Tigers' Johnson
Thats two straight great two strike curveballs. One to Everett and one to Konerko. If Johnson keeps throwing strikes, I think the Sox should get agressive and start swinging first pitch. He really is throwing all fastbals early and then goes breaking stuff late. His curve is looking nasty though.

The Trade I'd Make
I agree it is unlikely that the Sox could sign him, but maybe he likes Ozzie or has heard good things about Ozzie and its worth trying and seeing if they can get him to a long term deal. Maybe 15 mill a year long term is enough to convince him to skip free agency, whose to say. I doubt the Royals ever stepped up and offered him something like that and if he had that guaranteed it could be better for him to sign it, knowing the he's financially secure the rest of his life. However, I think for someone like Beltran, if your getting him long term, then I'd give up quite a bit to get him, because he is that good of a player and is just entering his prime. I should also say, I'd give up a similar package for Barry Zito, but only if the Sox could then acquire a semi decent bat for the end. Zito would be an awesome pickup and once again this would be contigent on locking him up (I'm assuming he becomes a FA and thats why the A's have him on the block).

System changes
Sox Affiliates Make Numerous Changes By Jason Gage July 24, 2004 FutureSox.com The Chicago White Sox organization made a flurry of moves on Saturday. First and foremost, as FutureSox.com reported a few weeks ago, Kelly Wunsch was back on the comeback trail. He threw some side sessions and is now healthy and was activated from the disabled list. Wunsch will replace Joe Borchard, who was promoted to Chicago when Magglio Ordonez was placed on the disabled list yesterday. Wusnch struggled for the Sox this year, but has had plenty of success out of the bullpen in his major league career. With the Knights Wunsch is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in 12 games. Wunsch was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three games with the White Sox on the year. Promotions: Left handed pitcher Frasier Dizard was promoted from Kannapolis to Winston Salem. Dizard pitched very well out of the Intimidators bullpen this season. He was 0-1 with a 2.83 ERA in 27 games for Kannapolis. He limited opponents to 38 hits in 47.2 innings. Dizard was drafted by the White Sox in the 10th round of the 2003 draft out of the University of Southern California. Dizard spent 2003 in Great Falls where he made 6 starts and 6 appearances out of the pen. Nik Lubisich was promoted from Winston Salem to Birmingham. Lubisich, a lefty, went 5-7 with a 4.35 ERA in 22 games for the Warthogs this year. Lubisich has also pitched as a starter in the organization and was drafted in the 31st round of the 2001 draft. Demotions: To make room for Lubisich, Brad Murray and Tommy Nicholson were sent down to Winston Salem from Birmingham. Murray was 0-4 with a 7.16 ERA in 10 games with the Barons. Murray was 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 26 games with the Warthogs earlier in the year. Tommy Nicholson, an infielder, hit .277 in 36 games with the Barons. Nicholson hit .229 in 26 games with the Warthogs.

The Trade I'd Make
Well if they were willing to go around 14 mill a year for Maggs, then I say why not offer 15 mill a year over 5 years and see if Beltnra takes it. The Sox would have a nucleus of players signed and he'll be on a winning team, one that could compete for the Series the next few years. Plus he'll be playing in a major market, although I realize the Yanks may come a calling.

The Trade I'd Make
Valdez, the guy they got for Koch, is hitting like .344 and plays shortstop. He doesn't draw much anything in the walk department, but he's at least an option as a backup infielder. Heck, maybe the Royals give us Graffy back to come off the bench. I know one thing, I'd do whatever it took to get Beltran in a Sox uniform for this year and another 5-10.

The Assistant
I thoguht the same thing...and thats the only ep i've seen as well. Never was much of a fan of the Andy Dick show, but I gotta admit, from what I saw of the first episode, it looks like it should be real funny.

The Trade I'd Make
While Crede is a loss, the Sox have Fields in AAA and Uribe and Jose can play everyday with Wilson Valdez coming up to the majors to come off the bench or Dransfeldt. Beltran is a freaking stud, and if their is one thing this lineup now lacks, it is that major piece that can carry an offense. I think Lee and Konerko are capable of doing it, but I don't know if I want to rely on that fact when this team is going for it all. Beltran is young, way better then Crede and well with Rowand stepping up this yera and Anderson looking like a player, Borchard is expendable, considering Beltran and Lee would be in the OF for a while. THen Munoz may be a loss, but so what, your getting a freaking all star centerfielder, who may very well be the best centerfielder in baseball. This guy has every bit of ability to be a hall of famer and he is exciting to watch. He may not be hitting for much of an average with Houston, but he is still hammering the hell out of the ball and has had a ton of clutch hits.

Tom Thayer Rumor
Closing this thread. Whether gay or not it doesn't matter. I realize SSI wasn't trying to start something, but I don't see where any good comes out of accusing or asking whether such and such athletes are gay.

ESPN NFL 2K5
I've never seen a more complete football game. I also like the passes, you can see an opening and it seems much more realistic when you pass it threw a hole. I haven't seen many of those triple coverage receptions, but I have seen more where you lob them and it goes over a lb and you hit your Te or what not. I also like how the qb has to turn to see parts of the field, cause honestly, no qb can see the hole field like they usually do in Madden. Oh ya, the run graphics and the whole tackling sequences are amazing. That doesn't beging to talk about how great the commentary and just graphics that tie into the game are. Hell, even Berman is pretty awesome in the game. They integrate stats well, have cool replays, and the halftime show is just crazy cool in a sense. Just an awesome football game. I'm saying no to Madden. By the way, if anyone lives near a FYE music, you can get it for 14.99 on either PS2 or XBOx. Its 19.99 with a 5 mail in rebate.

The Trade I'd Make
If the Sox could negotiate a window to sign him long term or felt confident they could do that (Thats right, meaning Magglio is gone at the end of the year), then I would use Crede, Borchard and two more prospects (Not named Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney). Reportedly the Astros want a 3rd baseman (even though they have Ensberg) and Crede could fit that. I'd also hold off on giving up Neal Cotts, I think he's going to be valuable down the stretch and has a bright future as a starter. They gave up some good things to get Beltran, but who knows if he's on the block. However, offer him 14 mill a year for 5 years and see if he bites. HE is a better all around player then Magglio and plays a tougher position, so I say go for it. Plus he's really looking like he'll develop 50 HR power to go with very good speed. If Maggs makes it back this year, fine, you end up having him, Beltran, Thomas and company in the postseason which is sick. IF he doesn't, you still have a start studded centerfielder and what will be a pretty good OF with Beltran and Rowand in CF and RF, helping out Lee who is solid, but lacking range. I'd say Crede, Borchard, Munoz, and another player for Beltran if the Sox would realistically go after signing him the next year. Then you get 2 picks for Maggs, which will somehow help to bring in talent and have Anderson and Rowand capable of playing RF, plus Everett under contract next year, in case, Thomas walks or he can play RF at times. This would be my plan. Harris - 2nd Uribe - 3B Beltran - CF Lee - LF Everett - DH Konerko - 1st Jose - ss Rowand - rf Burke/Davis/Alomar - C If Thomas and Maggs make it back, even better, now you have Rowand and Everett off the bench.
-
Pitching or Offense
If we are talking Barry Zito or Randy Johnson then I say pitching.
-
What about Bret Boone
This isn't a bad idea. Harris can move to CF with Rowand moving to right field. Boone is a FA at the end of the year and if the Sox get healthy you can decide which of Boone/Harris to play everyday. If the Mariners would do it for a mid level type prospect, assuming the Sox are willing to pay maybe 2 mill of the remaining portion of the contract.
-
Question on Ryan McCarthy
I know their were talks he'd have to move over to 3rd because of his size, but he was supposed to be a slick fielding infielder.
-
Old Socks Challenge
If I recall I thought the Royals were about to acquire Alomar when the Sox got him??? I never heard a thing about him being waived or anything along those lines.
-
Olerud a big option
Go get him, move Everett to RF and live with it, imo. Worse case he comes in, doesn't do what you expect and you cut him lose. Best case he ads veteran leadership, another left handed bat, and does a decent job.

Kenny Williams on AM 1000
I will continue to defend Willie. When Willie gets constant playing time, Willie does good. He is also solid at 2nd base and smart on the paths. I wouldn't mind seeing Uribe, Willie and Rowand playing a lot, especially if Borchard struggles early on. Thats with Uribe at 2nd, Willie in CF, and Rowand in RF.

Kenny Williams on AM 1000
Sounds like if anything, Kenny will add another pitcher and hope Konerko, Lee and Everett can do their thing.

Ordonez Placed on the DL; Borchard Recalled
Haha, you know I appreciate it. Your piece will be the one heavily read because it was up first so its on google news pretty high. FS, along with WSC broke the news (story wise) before the trib, so it could result in a good amount of hits. You tell me, if you want, we can combine the piece, cause yours has your typical bad ass stats. Yours basically talks about Borchard, mine talks heavily about Ordonez and its effect on the Sox, so it may not be a bad combination.
-
Ordonez Placed on the DL; Borchard Recalled
No harm in having two, lol. Ours have some different info. That or we could combine em? I don'thave a problem with two of them up, though, cause in my article, I do a lot of speculating, while yours is more a straight up news story, so their is really no harm in having two.
