  1. If it isn’t Soto…Kete Marte or Chisholm would still look good. Marte probably more realistic and maybe you do him and than swing Eloy for someone else (if you wanted to retool a bit). If they wanted to go cheaper - go acquire Hernandez from the Nats. Older Cuban who is a good hitter, especially vs righties. Not very athletic and minimal upside but solid bat from left side (meh defense at best). Not my preference but a cheap option. His stats have gotten worse each month this year though.
  2. By the way - I had a totally crazy idea regarding the MLB draft. What if the lower levels of minor leagues were basically run by MLB and instead you had a draft really focused on the top talent that was ready - so when you were finally set to draft - you were basically picking guys that are going to be on your major league roster or essentially one affiliated / development squad. I don't know how to do it and whether it is good or not - but baseball is the sole sport where the draft players don't really show up at the major league level for a while and that is why the draft just doesn't get the same ratings. If instead - you had draft picks (which by the way you could trade) and you really would be looking at say a 5 round draft of pretty much major league ready players - boy would that make for tv (let alone the drama in the trades - i.e, a rebuilding team could trade vets for picks that would likely make much more immediate impacts - allowing potentially for quicker rebuilds, etc). Like I said - this is probably a terrible idea - but if MLB wanted to make the draft big time - the only way I see it happening is find a way where more MLB ready talent is actually eligible for the draft (especially the first few rounds). Could you imagine a draft where the AA version of Mike Trout was available.
  3. Was bummed to not see Riley Kelly get grabbed. Guess he wanted to go to college. Or will anyone make any decent size undrafted signing using some pool money.
  4. I finally figured out who he kind of reminds me of - Adam Kennedy. A bit shorter/stockier but somewhat similar swing.
  5. I really like the swing. Whether the raw tools are good enough - we will see but that swing on its own is pretty nice and I can see why he hit like he did in college with aluminum bats. My big question is whether they all turn to ours with wood bats.
  6. I don't know if that power plays with wood bats, but the swing is pretty. So not like he has a horrible swing or anything.
  7. I am swinging big at the deadline. Land a star left handed bat. Just make sure it is a long term play.
  8. Love this pick.
  9. Why was Swisher the Yanks person anyway? He didn’t spend that much time there. A few of this people the orgs have put out have been kind of random.

Amen!!! All of us on this site deserve the org finally doing the right thing and becoming a true major market org.

    Now that is the spirit!!!
  13. He won’t be fired - more just the travel and everything else takes a toll and while he loves the game he no longer can be the mgr. I won’t ever root injury or bad health on anyone. This is just more kind of like Phil Jackson hitting that point where the physical toll just wasn’t doable. And I will state - his failure this year with Sox has no barring on his overall spectacular mgr career.
  14. I doubt it works but I have no issue with the attempt.
  15. I would 100% hire Maddon a second. I think he would be exactly what the dr ordered. That said - I expect whomever they hired for the rest of the season would be internal. But who knows - maybe Kenny has been on a plane and talking with Paulie or AJP (would never shock me). I don't see it being Ozzie (although I 100% think he wants the job). One of the minor league guys, i.e, Jirschelle is probably my personal ideal candidate. With that said - if I were in charge I would go with Bochy.
  16. I think retirement / club ambassador is most likely avenue. Maybe a special assistant to Kenny or JR.
  17. I keep thinking All Star Break is where changes happen. I just don't want to be 0-8. I am hoping they can get to needed changes and still finish between here and than around .500 (on the week) - so they aren't any more burried heading into the 2nd half of the season (and give the new coach that ASB window to start making his splash and meeting players, etc).
  18. Wait - he walked him on an 0-1 count? Did something happen where the force out or something else was no longer in play (I clearly didn't watch the game). Are we going to hear about what the analytics told TLR to do in that situation - is he just a great 0-1 hitter?
  19. I think it is two fold. One Kenny foreshadowing changes might happen and it goes for these reasons (maybe a major leaguer or two for other major leaguer deal) and two buying time for next offseason when they clean some of it up (if the new mgr they bring in doesn’t fix it). TLR looks awful in this leak and I don’t see JR as the person who would make TLR look bad in public.
  20. I actually think Eloy is a big part of this - meaning Eloy not being there was a big deal. He is a phenomenal teammate and keeps things loose. Also - Harrison has always been known as an all around good dude. No nothing about pollock (either way), but I do think losing combined with a 2nd year of horeshit mgr and No Eloy was probably a thing.
  21. I think LaRussa is gone at the all star break if they don’t go on a big run and at this point I still wouldn’t be surprised if they make a decent shake up at the break either way.
  22. I think this is probably Kenny saying the mgr is an issue and he set a tone that has everyone out of control. I dont think this absolves a manager - one of the mgrs biggest jobs is managing the lockerroom. Now if there are issues - front office has to be aware of it too and figure out how to right size things as well. But to me this just confirms what we all know - TLR has no control inside and than with that it probably creates so much more strife as well - some of which a new mgr won’t solve because the complete shit they had created a stink fest.
  23. At some point they have to pull the plug on Tony if for no other reason Kenny and HAhn are going to want like one or two months to save themselves right?
  24. For the record the pitcher painted the first pitch for a strike and than threw another ball in the zone in a good location on him. He was 0-2 cause pitcher made two good pitches. He swung at crap with 2 strikes but it wasn’t like he created that hole. It’s baseball and I give credit to Tigers pitcher for making good pitch es to Abreu there. That at bat wasn’t why Sox lost but they did leave way too much out there - like always. I also will say the Tiger starter pitches well - but enough is enough - this team has to ducking hit.
  25. I usually don’t think a mgr/hitting coach change does much - but in this case I could see the team going on a crazy run post change. So clear at the lack of energy and buy in on LaRussa and my gut is players just roll there eyes all day every day at the stuff that goes on.
