  1. I've seen Cook play, albeit it was before he ever came on, and he wasn't anyone that stood out athletically. That said many guys have late developments and turn into solid bench players but thats about all I could see Cook turning into (and there is nothing to be ashamed of in that, imo).
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) Jase Iam gonna have to move to Cali to make sure your not gonna do that stupid s*** before you do it.What the hell dude? I could use it. My girlfriend was shaking her head at me today. Worse part was I was scheduled to run a 10K in 2 weeks and this is obviously going to hamper my training and possibly the ability to run (since I'm guessing I won't be able to run for about a week (and I'll be happy if all it takes is a week to recover from this, especially after looking at it tonight). Good news is I have full range of motion and have hopped up and down on the leg without pain. My days of pushing the envelope are coming to an end. I've hurt myself enough times snowboarding and now done the same skateboarding. Worse part, I was probably running the fastest I ever have in my life and my knee was feeling better than ever (even stronger than when Kap saw me running around on the wet softball field).
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) So I put this in the NFL thread but may as well put it here too, Jermaine Dye is a Bears fan saw him at the Bears-9ers preseason game. edit: on tv of course. So is Swisher. He was at the game as well.
  4. My knee is completely black and blue this morning. Bump on the head has subsided mostly. But man did that suck. My knee had finally gotten 100% after the various injuries to it and than I do something stupid like that and destroy it again. Hopefully everything physically is fine and its just a hideous bruise with lots of swelling which will go down over the coming days.
  5. You sons of b****es. I'm on extra tape delay out here and I stumbled into this thread only to get the volleyball ruined. Damn it.
  6. TPX bats were the s***. I still have my TPX bat that I used throughout little league. Its way too freaking short now, but I'll still bust it out every once in a while just for fun. I absolutely loved my baseball glove I used for my first 10 or so years of playing. It was absolutely amazing and it wasn't until very recently that I've actually adjusted and gotten comfortable with a new mitt. Thus far I've only went through three real mits in 20 or so years of playing baseball (I'm still on the 3rd). I still play today, albeit its in a weekly softball league (baseball mitt is what I use).
  7. But f*** did I whack my head. Little bit of swelling on the back of it. I know I didn't black out because I hit and popped up cursing like a mother f***er, which I figure is as good of a sign as possible.
  8. f***, I just ate s*** skateboarding down a hill. HIt a f***ing rock, lost control, whacked the f*** out of my head and destroyed my back and knee. Some blood (From the scrapes) and my knee has already swelled like s***. Bright side is I can move everything and I didn't black out.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can bring all sorts of foods onto the plane. You just can't bring your own beverages onto the plane.
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) Can the Sox use Carrasco? I am under the impression you are only allowed to use players that were on the 25-man roster at the time of the game. Nope, you can use new members. In fact, the Sox could be at a bit of an advantage since you may have Carassco, Russel, and Richard all available (guys who wouldn't have been had the game continued on).
  11. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) I guess that Biscardi guy is NOT a well known, well respected, Bigfoot hunter. In fact, he is actually regarded as a scam artist in the Bigfoot world. I've been bouncing around numerous Bigfoot sites since this news conference and have yet to find anything positive said about the guy. As much as I would love for this to be real, I also in a way hope it's not. Ever since I was a kid the idea of Bigfoot being real has creeped me out and is one of the things that if I see movies, tv shows, or read a book about the critter, I get the willies something fierce. That would be just my luck. I could have a fear of werewolves, vampires, zombies, whatever. But nope, the one "imaginary" thing I DO actually have a fear of turns out to be real. PLUS they take a sample of the guy and find HUMAN DNA in there!!! Sure, they find the possum DNA and rationalize it by saying that he probably ate a possum!!! So how do you explain the human DNA!?! Yeah, they find one of the bastards finally and it turns out he EATS PEOPLE! I am never leaving my house if that thing proves to be real. F**k*r might eat me. Post of the Year. I was in riots during that last paragraph Kid.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Is there going to be a really good QB in the draft this year? Nope. My hope is that Derek Anderson has another big time year and that the Bears are able to acquire Brady Quinn with the hope that he could develop into the franchise QB (plus, the fact that he'll have sat on the sideline for two yeras should make him much more prepared to come in and hopefully lead a competitive team from the get-go).
  13. I like Rex more than Kyle, but I'll do my best to cheer and hope Kyle turns into a solid NFL QB.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) I still think Richard is going to be a quality bullpen guy, especially if he's able to amp up for his inning or two in relief and throw 93-94 mph like his opener. I agree. He's going to play a big part in solidfying the Sox pen down the stretch (thats assuming the club can find someone else to handle the 5th starters duties).
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) With duck and moves like that, you should be running for President.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) What does Boone's line look like? The Sox are 10-6 since the Rally Boone was implemented.
  17. Paulie's Stats since i instituted the Rally Jobu on Paulie: .308 AVG, .431 OBP, 1.021 OPS, 3 HR, 7 RBI
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) What a f***ing load of s***.... I mean welcome back Jason :0) I said 50,000 posts for a reason. That reason was so that we all could call you a f***ing prick
  19. QUOTE (Yoda @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) I have noticed the absence of some good quality posters from the past. I won't mention names because I don't want to offend those who aren't mentioned. To sum things up, like others have already stated, there has been plenty of changes in people's daily lives and it has taken away their liberty to post as often as they used to. We can only do our best to keep this site well and alive (which should be no problem). After all, both sites are dedicated to the team we love and die for. Behind the scenes, the mods/admins are constantly discussing ways to improve the site. However, as everyone knows, we also believe that a good mod presence is one which is never really seen or heard from. The mods do an outstanding job of taking care of issues quickly and away from the everyday discussions. We feel we give everyone a more than fair shake to share there opinions on Soxtalk and the only real way you get banned is by constantly making inappropriate posts/attacks. And I mean constantly since we pretty much have a multiple strikes and your out policy (rarely is anyone, aside from trolls, banned on a first instance). This more lenient attitude can lead to a bit more rampant negativity and the ocassional thread that spins out of control but long-term we feel the benefits (the freedom to discuss 99.9% of all topics) far outwieghs the negatives. As a whole I know my personal level of action at Soxtalk has decreased. At this point I'm more of a figure-head who tries to point things in the right direction but leans heavily on the mods/admins who are around on a day to day, hour to hour basis. The site has grown and that does lead to more stress and more new posters who may not be familiar with the "norms" of Soxtalk. This ocassionally leads to a less than friendly welcome and its the one thing I would really like to see change at Soxtalk. When Soxtalk was founded, I went out of my way to welcome any and all members. Many people had dumb first posts (lord knows I have about 40,000 dumb posts, and about 1 million grammar errors) and eventually evolved into tremendous posters/assets to the community. I think we all need to remember this when someone jumps down a newbs throat and calls them stupid. Rather, try to educate such person. Its the education and great discussion amongst posters I have a familiarity with that keeps me coming back (That and ownership, LOL). I always considered myself a smart baseball person but I've learned a vast amount since joining this site and will continue to learn many new things. In short, I ask each and every member here at Soxtalk to try and do one thing, show respect to your fellow poster (whether they have 50,000 posts or 1 post).
  20. I Think Clayton Richard is going to have a huge impact for the Sox down the stretch (throwing out of the pen).
