Yep, time for BA.

Paulie just missed that. Still he's seeing the ball well and looks so much more comfortable at the plate. Griffey's going yard right here.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Nope, I'm annoyed he's doing well. Hopefully Swisher can continue to slowly improve. He's easily been the biggest dissapointment of anyone on the Sox. I made a massive mistake when I thought he'd really improve moving from that pitchers park to the cell.
-
Nasty curve. This is awesome...Javy and Paulie getting there s*** together for the stretch run. Those two playing like they can is a massive boost and could make the Sox a world series caliber team.
-
Wow, I've actually seen Javy throw some pitches inside today. Real shock that with him doing that he's given up 0 runs through 3/2/3's.
-
Anyone else really excited about Paulie's resurgence? Getting him back is what will put the Sox over the top, imo. Its like they are going from the worst first baseman in baseball to one of the better ones (He's been looking pretty darn good, imo). Definitely looking healthy again.
-
I certainly wasn't impressed with his "stuff". Than again, I was never a huge Gio backer. Him, Fields, & Anderson were three prospects that I typically ripped. I always liked Sweeney (had doubts about him ever developing power but figured if he would he'd be an all star and if he didn't he'd be a solid player). Sweeney always reminded me a bit of Shawn Green.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) One thing I'll give OC credit for is he gets great secondary leads on the bases. In general he is a tremendous base-runner. I wish he could teach Alexei a thing or two.
-
Minnesota got out of it so the Mariners will have 3 outs to go against Nathan to get 2 runs (for the tie) or 3 (for the win).
-
I don't know how OC scored so easily that ball was freaking roped. I figured for sure he wouldn't have scored.
-
Q knocks in 2.
-
Bases juiced for Q. Hawk is calling Barton stupid, but you know what, he made the right play. Barton just made a bad throw. A good first baseman should do that every time, imo. Especially when you are already down 6 (you can't afford to give up more).

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) Seeing OC's "GG defense" this season makes me appreciate Uribe's defense in his time with the Sox. We were spoiled...Juan is the best defensive SS in baseball.

Poreda's name comes up when talking 5th starter.
Chisoxfn replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
To me it all depends on his makeup. If he has a strong makeup I have no trouble calling him up and starting his timetable. If he doesn't, than I'd have more issue with it. I also wouldn't have a problem calling him up and having him pitch out of the pen this year to get his feet wet and than transitioning him to the rotation next season. -
Juan drives the walk. I'd also like to point out his gold glove defense, which is something that was much needed given how s***ty the defense had been playing.

Well I'll comment on this thread a little later, but I want to add that I and the rest of the mods/admins are always here if people have concerns or have ideas to make things better.

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 05:45 AM) Note to kyyle,I f***ing love Generation Kill. The show rocks

The power potential is there, but I don't project him as a 30HR guy. I'd say at his best he would turn into a guy who hits 20-30 HR's but its more likely it would be a little less (but I see lots of extra base hits). In fact, tools wise, I'd compare him a bit to Sizemore. No, I'm not saying he will be Sizemore but he reminds me of a young Sizemore in the sense of his "skill-set".
-
I love Jordan Danks. He's a tremendous athlete and projects to be a great defensive outfielder. Offensively he could turn into a real nice #2 hitter (ie, .300 avg, 10-15 hr's, 20-30 SB's).

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 11:20 PM) Anyone know what Omogrosso's stuff is like? JPN? Very good velocity on his fastball. At least he has very good velocity of his fastball out of the pen (don't know what its like as a starter). Long term he does project as a potential set-up guy.
-
f*** ya...thats a winner. This team is going through the motions and still finding ways to win. They've found ways to lose too, but they are a playoff caliber team (talent wise). They should get Linebrink back eventually and that should be a great acquisition for September.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Gameday has him consistently at 91 Judging by the hitters being pretty behind, I'd say he's throwing pretty hard. 93 seems pretty accurate. I didn't see anything but the 3rd inning (my flight got delayed like 3 hr's so I'm finally home from a long business trip) but he looked good.
