  1. Not by name
  2. Why? He's the second guy Getz should fire (after Haber). Even JR mentioned in his press conference (the one he answered questions) that the removed the guy because they wanted more out of draft. I thought he was still around just to be a Hahn fan-boy
  3. For some reason, JR doesn't piss me off when I listen to him, even when he's telling real howlers . Getz was better on the radio interview than he was in the press conference. Those guys certainly asked much better questions; although Getz still gave puffed wheat answers, but he sounded better.
  4. The milquetoast media certainly didn’t disappoint: softballs as always. And Getz answered them with a bunch of hot air. And on the few legitimate questions there were, the hot air wasn’t met with follow-ups. It’s all about “culture.” Good lord. And I hope that doesn’t mean what it usually means in a political context.
  5. If only Getz had stayed at Wake Forest instead of transferring to Michigan
  6. I don't expect the media to ask Getz something like "Why was the farm system so impotent under your watch?" or "What are your qualifications for this job"; and if he's bringing in Dayton Moore, "Dayton Moore had 3 winning seasons out of 16 with the Royals; is that something that the Sox really should emulate?" or "Do you stand with Dayton Moore on Luke Heimlich?" But could they at least ask him some positive questions such as: 1)What are your plans to improve the productivity of the farm system?; specifics please 2) The Sox are at or near the bottom in terms of investment in analytics; teams like the Cubs have an analytics department 3x the size of the Sox. What are your specific plans to vitalize our analytics department?
  7. Apparently they were good with him doing it v "alternate site" These dudes even all have the same look.
  8. Speaking of environments, Charlotte seems like a real wasteland. Does anyone learn anything there? Can anyone tell whether or not they do?
  9. The same Sosa that Grifol didn't want called up in the first place; I would assume that, despite being one of our hotter hitters, Grifol doesn't think much of him. Yes, let's bring this clown back to manage another season.
  10. There is no way that Grifol called for a bunt there. Right? Right?
  11. A lot of hits and a lot of walks; those numbers aren't all that sporty.
  12. I don't see how hiring Haber is any more ridiculous than hiring Getz. Both are woefully unqualified for the position.
  13. I think that I need to get in better touch with my feelings...
  14. Time for our first road sweep of the season. I can feel it!
  15. Trayce Thompson - pinch hitter. Grifol lives in la la land that the most important thing is winning these gams.
  16. Lip, may I ask the source of this? I'd like to read the entire article. Thanks
  17. So Cease had 2 good seasons, then off the cliff- just like much of the rest of the “core.”
  18. I guess it's a question of JR's motives in firing them. Were they fired just because he felt that the bickering sons just both needed to be pushed out of the nest? Or did he fire them because he finally realized what a clown show his entire FO was? If it's the former, we'll get what Nightengale suggests. if the latter, we might finally get fresh air.
  19. Kenny is a top-shelf analyst. He was kind to the FO, really.
  20. While I agree with what someone said above that Morosi sounded more like he was speculating rather than reporting what he heard, I certainly like the resume of someone like Mattingly. He works for new-school Preller and learns about talent evaluation. Then he works for the very successful, and old school, Dombrowski. He's seen both sides. Someone with that kind of experience should do a great job. Rizzo certainly has had a lot of success, and towers over Moore, that the Nats fell so far off the cliff after winning does give me pause.
  21. Getz spent 2 years with the Royals as an assistant in player development. That's not much of a qualification to be the Sox Director of Player Development. Hahn had been assistant GM for 10 years; his skills were certainly limited, but he did have a decade of experience. That said, it's hard to image that Getz could be worse than Hahn. But, for myself, I'm rooting for a higher standard.
  22. Yes, the cascade of leaks that "Hahn is a victim" and "Hahn wanted to do X, but KW/JR wouldn't let him" has begun. I'm not falling for it.
  23. Why would trading burger foil an Anderson deal? Burger was just a one for one trade, so the only way it would affect an Anderson trade is if Burger was part of the Anderson trade. I am expecting a lot of “it’s all Kenny’s fault” from the media’s “sources” in the coming weeks.
  24. Can someone please show JR the record of our minor league teams….with the Charlotte Knights in bold type.
