  1. I think Benetti's a great football announcer. Okay in baseball. Sox would be fine with Knight.
  2. Build a good farm system. Whether it's behind on tech, analytics, evaluation, development, international, drafting (ahem), the Sox farm system has been largely terrible for 60 years. The only exception was the late 80s/early 90s-Mid 00s. That was also the time they were consistently good. With some better work from the GMs, they would have made the playoffs more often and advanced further. But the lousy farm has long been the problem...and frankly, considering where they've been drafting, it still is.
  3. Sox starters are better than the relievers. Burke is seriously improved this year, so do they have to pull him under 80 pitches? Perhaps build up his stamina. On the relief, side, Taylor too. It's 1 inning and out.

Kelenic has turned things around dramatically. I'd guess that the Sox will sell him to another team in the next month (unless they decide to dump one of Peters/Hill and keep him). When the Sox sent J. Gonzalez to Charlotte while he was still struggling in Birmingham, I figured that the Sox had decided that he was just an org guy, so they just let him org-away in Charlotte. It appears that that conclusion may have been premature.
  5. His ability to play CF and a good SS makes him worth the playing-time investment. Regardless, who else is there for CF?
  6. I watch a little Mets these days (Darling and Cohen are entertaining, especially during the slump) and several of Robert's throws have been less than exemplary, including a particularly poor throw on Monday that contributed to loss #12. Yes the trade sucked. But Robert also needed to go. "Good for you; good for me."

Zavala is looking good, at least statistically. Still Ks too often, although not as often as Montgomery. Actually, I was looking at ABs not PAs. His K % isn't excessive.
  8. The state of the young pitching in this org remains troubling

    And 5 walks. Depressing.
  10. I don't think he does either. But for the Sox, he's been a dependable starter.
  11. Boston Smith was a punt-pick...but looks like an interesting one. Isn't 150K the standard for 11-20? Fedde is one of those guys who has probably has more value to the Sox than any prospective purchaser (kind of like my 2010 Acura; more value to me than the market price would be).
  12. I they will trade him along the lines of Sosa (who, just made an Uribe-like catch of a foul ball). I've yapped about the light returns on Getz' deals on these guys, especially when the other team is the needier party in the trade. I think they should try him in the pen (although, I think that Burke will end up there eventually so they could just go on with the inevitable and leave Fedde in the rotation).
  13. My evaluation of these teams is that the As are good; the Diamondbacks are not good; and, like you said, we caught the Jays at a good time (sort of like the teams playing the Mets and Phillies, although both might end up bad this year). Sox are getting better, but they need more young pitching. They should have home-grown prospects in Charlotte that they can put into the pen and the don't. When Shane Smith returns, I guess they'll dump Fedde - but I would keep him (through July or until they can work out a reasonable trade) because he's a better pitcher than a lot of the relievers.
  14. We need to get Hays healthy, hitting and traded.
  15. No bueno for me on Chrome or Safari. But Firefox works fine.
  16. I would leave it at "Don't want to see Bido again."
  17. I say yes. Why not?
  18. Sox played well against the As, who I think are a good team. The only lead the As had all weekend was in the 11th inning of game 2. Keep it up in Arizona!
  19. Any concern about Roch's .666 OPS in Cape Cod, which I believe uses the wooden bats?
  20. The hope is that the ones who throw 100 can be closers, if not aces.
  21. A couple of weeks ago, he was a 1-innng opener (consecutive nights; 3/4 nights). But I don't think they are going for starter either (injury concerns, as I recall). He throws 100 but he gets hit; I guess the command isn't there. Unfortunate.
  22. And why was Fedde pulled? He was doing fine. The starters have been pretty good overall; it's the bullpen that is terrible, Newcomb included.
  23. Davis has been pitching in the majors since 2022 (and very well for the most part), and the Sox still control him through 2030. Love these service time rules.....
  24. It's not like our farm system is anywhere close to top shelf anyway. And it would be nice if some of those prospects would turn into quality major leaguers. Getz is burying himself with his own poor personnel decisions, letting other GMs lead him around by the nose, etc. but he's not getting a lot of internal help either.
  25. All the waiver-wire deals Getz does with Tampa, only to his team flummoxed by Getz waivee Scholtens. Running a baseball organization just isn't his bag. Getz just isn't good at this.
