Fegan on Score @1225 pm to discuss Sox remaining moves
Just one problem.... With all of these new young pitchers, is there any chance that they revitalize the minor league pitching instruction.

Middleton to Yankees for Juan Carela
This is good. Lottery ticket is what you want in this situation.
-
Burger To Marlins
Burger is cheaper, has more control and room for growth. In a rebuild type of situation, he's the one to keep. And if they're really "going for it" next season, they probably shouldn't have traded either one of them. And then rebuilding, but not trading Cease at what is probably peak value. It's all kind of strange.

Burger To Marlins
I'll miss Burger; and I particularly appreciate that he played with energy. I have found it strange throughout this trade period that a player with his power and control was at or near the top of the Sox' "we'd like to trade him" list, after the contract expirees. Hopefully, the Sox got a strong return.

Old Sox Drawer: 2023 Edition
Reynaldo with a 1 2/3 inning save. Angels went after the right reliever. He'll have a lot of suitors in the offseason.

Fire Rick Hahn
Over 24 hour bump...

Crochet wants to be a SP
Maybe not. But he wants to try; and given the way the Sox have treated him, I think that they owe him the chance. And it's not like the reliever thing has worked out, so no real harm to the Sox either.

Guardians at White Sox 110 pm GRF
The Remillard thing is bizarre considering they have frequently spent $2-$3 mill on utility players (and of course the Leury contract). I think it's like relievers - they don't break the bank and they prefer "proven veterans." It fails, but they don't recognize their failures as a failure in process.
-
Crochet wants to be a SP
Rushing him into the majors; rushing him back twice from injury. Never giving him a chance to start. Overall stunting his career due to FO laziness and general effery.
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
No problem - didn't take it that way at all.
-
Can Noah Schultz be an effective bullpen piece when the Sox are competing in 2024?
Hahn likes the way you think!
-
And that's a What's Gotten Into These Bums 7-2 White Sox winner!
Giolito and perhaps Reynaldo are the only players of any consequence that they traded away. Otherwise, it's addition by subtraction.

Guardians at Sox Game 3 Sat 610 pm
The old Guardian drawer hasn't been too kind to their old mates .
-
Crochet wants to be a SP
I hope the Sox give him that opportunity. They owe it to him. Heck, they owe it to themselves.
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
Yes - my mistake. Situational righty reliever. And he got a starting catcher, such as he was, out of the deal.
-
Lynn and Kelly to LAD for Trayce Thompson, RHSP Nick Nastrini and RHRP Jordan Leasure
I put that on Hahn. He's had a decade to build the infrastructure. They share a facility with the godfather of infrastructure. If he can convince JR to spend tens of millions on Younder Alonso and relief pitching, he should have been able to reap some infrastructure investment.

Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
It's Williams that the BP guys beat on mercilessly. And Moneyball whacked him for the grave offense of trading away a situational lefty reliever.
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
Per Law: "...but he [Lee] still has that everyday ceiling if he gets back to the hitter he was through 2021, swinging at strikes and putting the ball in play rather than trying to dead-pull so many pitches." https://theathletic.com/4729990/2023/07/28/white-sox-dodgers-astros-scouting-report/

Guess there's still a game Guardians @ Sox 610 pm
He’s got some pedigree though. He was a number one pick for Arizona who I believe it was La Russa traded to the Braves as part of a salary- dump of some other player; kind of like a (bad) hockey GM does.

Guess there's still a game Guardians @ Sox 610 pm
The Dodgers ditched a couple of decent players from their 40 man to make room for Kelly and Lynn. I don't know what the Sox 40 man looks like, but if Shaw's on it, there's probably room for these guys.
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
The speed and urgency of these deals just doesn't have that Hahn feel.

Guess there's still a game Guardians @ Sox 610 pm
Colas looked like he knew what he was doing when he went the other way on that RBI single. I like how they're just playing him regularly; he'll learn something every day and hopefully start to figure it all out.
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
Yea he was real mediocre for us. Sox are none the worse for being without Kelly, Graveman and Lynn. Really, the only loss is Giolito. I'm glad to be done with all 3 of them.

2023 White Sox Salary / Transaction Tracker
Hopefully Hahn and Haber have learned that their lesson investing big in middle relief, esp. multi-year contracts, is loony-tunes. The only reason to sign those guys is to trade them in July. They'll have to pay for a couple of starters next season.

Guess there's still a game Guardians @ Sox 610 pm
He had one outing for them, he sucked, and they waived him. 5 days later, he's pitching for the Sox.
