Giolito has gone on record many times saying there's things McCann sees that he does on the mound that helps him tremendously (tipping pitches, his follow through, him getting too amped up, etc). I can see McCann being that veteran presence for a guy like Kopech for example. Otherwise, that contract is definitely ugly.

Say what you want about Eloy, but the bat is special. Definitely the most confident in him than the others. Least is probably Grandal. Another year older, another year he'll likely get injured even with the shift change that SHOULD help him.

Michael Conforto is an even better fit for that matter. Probably the same ordeal though, too pricey.

I still would like them to sign a SP that is a decent enough swing man. Can not rely on Lynn, Giolito, Kopech to be healthy all season. And we saw what happened when they weren't and we starting guys like Velasquez, Martin, etc. (Lopez was solid as a spot starter, but depending on what happens with Liam he might be closing).
