2010-2011 NHL thread
QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) Devils and Flyers pre-season game on NHL Network right now. I caught the Leafs-Senators game prior to that one. Even though the Leafs got shutout, Kris Versteeg was literally one of the best players on the ice for both sides. (clearly the best on the Leafs team)

Gavin Floyd
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Read that Floyd is still having soreness behind the shoulder. Hopefully it's no big deal if they haven't done an MRI, and he's had shoulder pain for a week now. *Stomach turning alittle bit*. Keep up the updates fathom. (or whomever else!)

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:22 AM) I'd add maybe another pick or two to that deal if need be. I'd like to keep Joakim at all costs. I'd give them 2 firsts and that Charlotte pick if need be. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Maybe they will bite if we throw in Scalabrine

White Sox Current Draft standings
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) 3.5! I'll update every 5 games or so to get a better read on it. So far though.. promising. (Hey if people actually thought we had a chance in the WC when TB was 6.5+ up on us, I might as well do this. )

Mathematically Ova!
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Yep. I'll be watching the Hawks preseason game tomorrow to try and lift my spirits a bit. Ditto. And Ozzie.. please play Viciedo and Flowers! (Infante few more appearances also) I would at least like to watch some games if theres nothing else on T.V.

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
I remember when Jack Cust was pretty much being given away for free by Oakland, only to be put on waivers, and then released before signing a MLC with Oakland. .273/.406/.453/.859 comming into tonight's game. Saying this cause he's one of the guys I wanted the sox to try and nab. Average is a surprise, but always had the OBP.

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
Wow.. just turned on the game to see when Morel was batting. I've never seen Alexei get owned in an at-bat worse than Cahill just did. Made him look like a AA hitter with those pitches in the dirt.

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Twins with a huge 8th inning, so this season will effectively be over in about 90 minutes!! Ozzie will still play the vets. We have pride you know.

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) You're better than that...you know we're not going to be signing a big name player (unless it's Konerko). That was kinda my point if what Greg was saying will work. Our defense will be very good, but you have to learn from the Mariners a team who wins the UZR title won't go far unless you have some better talent. (namely in the pitching area)

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
Race for the 15th. I'll update this in 2 days. Florida 75-75 Oakland 76-74 (assuming they win) Toronto 76-74 Detroit 76-75 St. Louis 77-73 White Sox 79-72 (assuming we lose) 3.5 back.

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Well, that team will f***ing suck then. It'll work if we have Carl Crawford in LF and Victor Martinez at catcher.. and Adam Dunn at DH. (or Quentin gone if RF for a Choo like bat).

Sox V. A's - Buehrle V. Cahill
Florida and Toronto won again today, but St. Louis and Detroit lost. Florida quickly joins the circus that is.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) I'd been trying to get info for the game thread for 10 minutes, but the internet is s***ty right now because of the weather. I'm sick of your LIES! QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) Look at Manny, drawing walks like it's his job.....well....it kind of is. And then there is AJ.....lol, wow. I gotta commend you for still watching these games Joe. Usually I don't even bother anymore, and if I do, I quickly turn to see when Brent Morel (or Viciedo/Flowers if they play/ever play) is up or due up in the inning.

UGH.... The Rudy dream is nearly over. A big f*** you goes out to Portland. Would have been a pretty damn good fit here. Only interesting thing is the deal is "non" guaranteed so there is hope. But wow... Scalabrine?

You got bragging rights over Knight since you did the thread first, so I'll post here.

Walker May Retire -- according to the Sun Times
Very odd that he had less talent (offensive potential) on the roster as a whole this year than in previous years, and we actually hit better this year than in recent years under his tenure.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 07:55 AM) Fractured Fibula, 4-6 weeks out for Reggie Bush. Boy he is very lucky he only broke it. I thought for sure he had torn ligaments watching that play. Horrible year for Bush after the Super Bowl. Lost his hot girlfriend, got his Heisman taken away and now has a broken fibula.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Seeing the name Chris Broussard makes me want to vomit and reminds me of very, very, very bad times earlier this summer. Hey... he's been money for the most part this off-season.

Sox vs. A's
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Yeah, probably. But I enjoy being rudely sarcastic too. I thought it was pretty obvious. Then again.. I already knew you were one of Manny's biggest supporters for a while. If the A's sweep us, it's going to be an interesting week and a half for the 15th pick. I firmly believe the Tigers will sweep KC, or at best take 2/3. Hopefully the Cardinals actually give a s*** and take the next game against Florida and the next two against the Mets. I'll update it every five games or so. Hey.. people here were actually crazy enough to follow the Wild Card chase when we were like 6.5 back. I might as well do this with the 15th pick.

Gavin Floyd
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) So much for being able to get rid of Teahen! This is turning into one of the worst seasons to watch/endure in a long time. 2007 was just bad all the way around, but with Peavy, Floyd now, giving away the division on a silver platter to the Twins, choking/quitting. What a disaster. I'll add most of our top prospects all being out with injuries enough to sustain loss of development. Pretty much has been a horrid season all around for the organization.

Sox vs. A's
If anyone is mildly interested.. Tigers won, but St. Louis lost. If the A's win, sox will still be 2 games back from St. Louis for the 18th pick but there will be a tie between the A's and Blue Jays for the 15th pick. Tigers slide down to 17th now. Can't believe they could be only 3 games back of us in the division (they are playing KC so it's possible they could be as close as a game back of us after this series).

Holy s***, 49ers blocked the field goal kick and it still went in! Saints win, me and Sonix advance in the survivor pool.

I'll say this. That 49ers team is legit. They are having some bad luck this season (pretty much the anti Bears in that regard) but if they wind up not doing well, it certainly isn't the end of the world for them. That team is loaded, especially offensively. I'm not a big Alex Smith fan though.
