AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Was sick (and back pain) so I missed the game, but I'm glad we got the win and Kong is an all-star.

Nice outing for Collop. After his brutal April/May he's pitches much better.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) LeBron James and Dwyane Wade? (I don't care what they're getting paid, it's the amount of wins they add to your team.) I'd put Deron Williams on that list too. I've long said I'd trade Chris Paul straight up for Rose. I think after his injury last year, people forget just how good he is. And like I said, people should not just worked up over Redick. I like him, but the Magic will match the offer. Hopefully this means a guy like Pietrus is available.

Hmmm.. I wonder if they would trade Reasoner and Kopecky to help off-set the money Nik will make that the Hawks would probably match. (elder Bowman I remember raved about Nik) Tough decision in either case. Is next year's draft strong at all or is it weak? SJ is probably going to be a top 5-7 team in the West anyway even without Nabakov.

How does Orlando's cap look? Cause now I'm reading they would have some serious balls to match it since they would be really over. Their owner is a rich dude though. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) Holy f***, Gerry, you're going to give me s*** in this thread yet you just called JJ Redick like the white Ray Allen "in Thibs' system". Put down the f***ing booze and end your life. Obviously Thibs is also putting an input into this off-season as well. Obviously Redick is no Allen, but he is a good shooter from the field, great from the line, and is a much better defender than given credit for (still not good, but I did watch the playoffs and saw enough of him to determine that) Allen isn't good either (never was till he got to Boston, and at least was "adequate" at it) if you didn't know. Pretty much have him run around screens/double screens from Rose on certain plays and I'm sure he will thrive in that system. I'll put faith in Thibs and Adams getting the kid to improve defensively (he already improved from where he was to now with SVG) and go from there. Same with Rose. I did mention though that I would rather see him on the bench as a first SG off of it (sign a defending wing) but Korver can not be your only sniper.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Oh, man, does this suck. I'd honestly rather have Kirk back and use our 1st on James Anderson dammit. NOOOOOOOO. But don't get too worked up. Orlando will probably match it, though I do like J.J. (not a lock down guy by any means, but his defense improved a TON since college and would love to see how Thibs does with him.. kind of like a white Ray Allen in his system running off screens and such when Rose kicks it out, similar to what Rondo did IMO)- NBA Offseason Thread
Orlando is probably going to match the offer. I believe DBAH0 said they (Magic management) would match any offer for Redick unless it was a serious overpayment (though you can debate this is an overpayment.. ). If they do.. Bulls should look into getting Pietrus since Magic would be f***ed in cap space.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) Korver and Redick on the same team? End my life. The great white hopes! Though I still think we get a defending 2 guard to start. If Redick is on the bench, that is fine with me unless Thibs and the Bulls management think he can continue to improve on defense to start. Bulls are not done. Still need a backup PG as well. I wonder if the Bulls would trade James Johnson, though I still think Orlando matches. Korver can't be the only sniper, so getting Redick really helps.- You can never have enough starters
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) You really missed that one? Ugh, you have a lot to learn in the ways of sarcasm. I didn't know that was added to the sarcasm as Kal pretty much got the other guys "right." Usually the man is incredibly spot on with players even the hands they throw so perhaps. Give me a break, my head hasn't been completely there since my friend was nearly killed alright.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) Redick really going to be starting at the 2? I didn't mind the Korver signing, but having both of those guys doesn't interest me. I would much prefer Brewer as well but he did get better at defending last season. J.J. is like an inch taller (maybe add half with it), worse defender, better shooting version of Kirk Hinrich. Rose might be averaging 10 assist a game at this rate. In 22 minutes he averaged about 10-2-2. I was sick of seeing Deng, Hinrich, even Rose miss critical free throws down the stretch in games, so these signings eases the mind. Top 5 team in FT shooting for sure IMO.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Bulls loaded the offer sheet with upfront money. Might be hard for Orlando to match. Very nice then. Though I see on realgm it's 20 mil not 18. Man NJ is gonna get Morrow for alot less, but more efficient. Though there are things J.J. does better as well so in some ways (had the highest True Shooting % of any SG) so it's moot. Our FT shooting might be one of the best in the league adding Korver and Redick. i do like him comming off of Stan's system when he was in the dog house for not defending (got better at it) so I'm sure he'll improve some.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Bulls dropped an offer sheet on Redick. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) 3 years, 18 million O snap! But damn Thibs is gonna have some work to do if Reddick is signed. (though I think Orlando will match)- You can never have enough starters
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Yeah because the Marlins want some terrible, mid 30's reliever? Give me a break. They're looking for good, young, cheap talent and that's exactly what Jor. Danks, Retherford, Morel and Marquez are. Danks is a toolsy outfielder who at the very bare minimum is a good national league 4th outfielder thanks to his speed and defense and thanks to his athleticism and pedigree he has some very nice upside. Retherford is a very versatile, grindy ballplayer who reminds me of Craig Counsell and I'm sure the Marlins would love to have that guy back only 15 years younger, well that's what CJ is. Morel is an excellent defensive 3B with a great eye, very good contact numbers and should develop some power, if he reaches his full potential he's a borderline all-star 3B, something the Marlins could use. Jeff Marquez is a left handed starter who could easily work out of the pen as a long man or a good lefty MR. Talented left handed pitching is hard to find and that's what we have here. There's no good reason why they wouldn't do this deal, they can't afford Johnson long term. That's a certainty and they should strike while the iron is hot: he's on a roll right now but that won't last forever, they should get the best package of young talent they can before he reverts back to his normal self. Trust me, they'd bite. Marquez is right-handed, but I love this post. Complete 180 from the hating post lately. Nicely done.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Totally disagree on Kwame. He's strong as f*** and an athletic freak. Post defense has always been his one legitimate strength. And I see no reason why he can't grab 6-7 RPG for 20-24 minutes a night. They don't need a thing from him on offense. Ya good point. I always hated his game so I did ignore his stats, and surprisingly for a guy with little hands he is a solid rebounder due to his size.- 7/9 Games
Charlotte 16-8 since mid June. Got their record to .500 for the first time this season. Nice outing for Upchurch. Wilkins 3-5, 2B, 2 R, K in first start. Ryan Hamme 3-5, 2B, R, RBI, K in second game for Kanny.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) But it looks A LOT less like garbage when pairing them with those three. I in particular think Bell and Kwame would be outstanding signings. Agreed on Bell. No on Kwame, though I guess they could use a "big body" regardless if his hands are too small to catch a ball in the post or rebound, poor defender and whose basketball I.Q. makes Drew Gooden wanna blush. I would love the Q-Rich re-sign for them if true. He has a tendency to kick our ass cause of the ties.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) damn! he is a good signing, very good shooter, but for that type of money, the heat got mike miller. Korver is a good shooter, but pretty much one dimensional while miller can pass and rebound. I hope he won't be the starting SG for us next season, he and rose will get smoked on defense. Nice way to throw away the $20 Mil cap space we have, I really expect him to be a $3mil guy. He could have very easily held out and got about 20-30 mil, especially with how teams have been throwing around money lately. (have you seen the other FA signings?) We don't need him to rebound. Boozer and Noah both average 10+ you got Rose who can get 4, hopefully 5, and Deng is about 7-8 and your not even counting Gibson.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) don't know if this was reported but kyle korver to the bulls....3 yr 15 million Outstanding signing at 5 mil per. Dude can fill it up from deep. We are quickly becomming the Utah Bulls.- Cliff Lee Traded to Rangers
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Rangers did a great job of holding on to Perez, Salty (good trade chip), Sheppers That is the name that popped into my head first before Perez though I don't remember if he was drafted in 09 or 08. Big fan of Scheppers.- PTC Friday July 9th, 2010

Add Smoak to the list they will regret trading later for the Rangers, but they are going for it, and I admire that.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) I was talking Kobe/Lebron. Kobe puts the fear of god into my ass whenever he shoots a game-winner. I don't get anywhere near the same feeling when Lebron takes a game-winner. LeBron more often than not would rather pass it. I've seen more than enough games seeing him kick it out to Mo Williams/Jamario Moon/etc.. (even if they are open for a few seconds) for a three. Kobe never does that unless he is getting triple teamed (not doubled), and you'll see a guy like Fisher, maybe Gasol shooting the rock. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Vinny "play calling" BG was the worst ending to games of all-time, and I swear it happened like 15 times. Now he'll get to do it again with Eric Gordon!!! (or most likely Baron Davis)- 2010-2011 NHL thread
You got Schenider (VAN) and Bernier (LAK) available if Stan wanted to explore a younger goalie.. (maybe a spect for spect kind of deal) there was a highly respect poster of HF/blackhawks boards that said Hannu Toivonen has higher potential than Niemi does too. (if he gets his head on straight) No doubt though you match that offer for Hammer.- NBA Offseason Thread
