  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) that's a lineup vs RHP VS LHP: Castillo Uribe Thomas PK Dye Rowand Crede AJ Pods If the sox had the opportunity, they'd be fools not to take the Fish up on Castillo. That kind of everyday lineup, both offensively and defensively, would make the Sox one of the best in the AL. At least intially, Pods will most likely leadoff regardless who's pitching.
  2. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) It could be, I remember going through lines that gradually went from less than a minute, to more than a minute, to more than 2 minutes. http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/04003995...4&minorcatid=10 Thanks very much.
  3. Is the little green T (ticket symbol) supposed to work when you click on it? Maybe it's full?
  4. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) already a big upgrade from Fox Sports. Just heard on Comcast, 20 spring training games will be telecast, starting on March 7. i'm sure all the games against the Cubs will be on. be a good way to get to see Brian Anderson, Brandon McCarthy and Ryan Sweeney because the young guys always finish out spring training games. Happy Birthday to me then!
  5. Man some of you guys complain. We have a leadoff hitter who clearly has the ability to disrupt pitchers on the base paths, we now have a complete bull pen, and amongst other holes now filled because of the money saved. Face it people, Lee was a good player, but he didn't fit the new mold they're trying to build. He did fall out of favor with Ozzie and KW. It's nice to have fond memories and all, but the team is clearly better than last year, enough said.
  6. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) Great..he can kill a harmless animal. That sure will help us win the division! :headshake Defenseless? Did you see the antlers on that thing? Oh no, it's headed right for us! Lol. I take it you never had deer meat. It's the best. I wonder if that will lead him and Buerhle to become fast friends.
  7. He could turn out to be a decent DH option as well. I don't know why some people are getting down about this kid. It was a PBTN, who you'd think we were going to get?
  8. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) so tell me what you think is "way to expensive" means??? miller sign a contract of 1 yr and 1.5 mil a yr. I think there are about 32 teams who would sign Miller with that deal. What's your point? He chose Boston, case closed.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) i dont think we should fire DJ for Stone... be 1 thing if we had 1 spot open for him to sneak into but i dont think firing DJ for Stone is worth it I like DJ, but a Hawk and Stone combo would be too good for me to personally pass up. However, I see Stone's future in some kind of executive position, probably our next general manager.
  10. Out of Rowand, Uribe, or Harris, who is your choice. Granted, these aren't ideal options overall, but I have been making my case that Harris in the two hole is a bad idea. Ironically, I've been taking more heat than expected in another forum. So I pose the question here, is anyone satisfied with Harris in the two hole, even if it were a right handed pitcher?
  11. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Today's Washington Post has the Sox as one of the finalist to get Vasquez from AZ. If the Sox can acquire him as well as a middle infielder we are going to be one of the best teams in the American League Linky? I would like to read the article, but I'm weary of the chances to get it done.
  12. How many wins he directly contributes for us over last year depends on many factors. He is solid defensively and calls a good game, despite the criticisim that he doesn't. He just doesn't throw out runners well. In any respect, he will help us win more games IMO. As far as the Jason Kendall analogy, that is weak at best. He's one guy. It's like saying Oliver Perez suck because he didn't single handedly deliver them to the post season. More games won or not, he makes the team better, and that's all that is really relevant at this point.
  13. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) I just hope that us lowballing AJ is just spin coming from the cubune. Either you offer the man what he's worth or don't bother! The guy was non-tendered, so why should we pay him above and beyond what other teams are looking to sign him for? If we want Iguchi and AJ, money has to work out. Besides, if our offer was insulting, why are we the favorites to sign him. He's probably just mulling over what he wants to do.
  14. Makes too much, I'd rather have Iguchi.
  15. According to the article, the Sox made an offer.
  16. The ERA was the highest, but deceivingly so IMO. The club in general didn't play well down the stretch, and I do believe he caught for Contreras the games where he got absolutely tagged. Also, half a season of catching didn't allow it to even out the way it would over the course of an entire season. That's how I see it anyway. Maybe not the biggest bat in the lineup, but as Hawk says, he can be dangerous at the plate. He has a strong arm, and has defensive skills.
  17. I admit I was weary of penciling him as the third startrer as well, but after giving it some thought, it could work out just fine. Currently, without OH, we have 4 guys capable of pitching over 200 innings per season. With the strength of our pen, it could make sense to break those guys up down the middle.
  18. Maybe he's one of those who really should be waited for in July to trade for, if we're interested. His price will still be high no doubt, but with his injury history, I'd rather be sure of what we're getting.
  19. If we are able to sign Perez, and Perez only, that'd be just fine.
  20. It appears the Mets are going to make a push for Perez.
  21. No chance he goes the arbitration route.
  22. Sounds like a good guy to have on the club. Seems those are the type of players were looking for and have acquired.
  23. I wanted Clement, but the rumor for 3 years $30 million admittedly had me nervous.
  24. Kevin Maas I thought I was going to be rich when I was a kid with a bunch of his rookie cards.
  25. Well if he can't win here, then we have problems, and maybe should forget a SP and spend on our offense with this reasoning.
