Relationship Advice Thread
Wite, just find out what the business is before V-day. If it turns out there's nothing there, get the booz ready. There ain't nothin' like getting your heart stomped on right before V-day. Believe me, I know. Drink, drink, drink and drink some more on V-day. Throw in some pot if you need to.

The schedule is out (a little late)
QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) I know the schedule came out awhile ago but which team are u most looking forward to see the Sox playing against? (excluding the Cubs) for me its the Rays. That team has great young talent and I love watching Evan Longoria. Agreed. And there's more on the way in Desmond Jennings. The Rangers and Orioles are two other teams I will look forward to seeing. I want to have a hot/sweaty 3-some with Neftali Feliz and Adam Jones.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Well, it wasn't particularly unforseeable that it would happen. It was a pretty obvious hire, in my opinion. Now let's get the field turf and reinstate the greatest show on turf, baby. And after that all we have to do is somehow reincarnate prime Orlando Pace, Marshall Faulk, Issac Bruce and Tory Holt then we're all set!

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 02:56 AM) What would we do with John Wall? Sign-and-trade him to Toronto? Put him at Shooting Guard? Even though Kirk is disliked, unless we're trading Rose, he's better for the team than Wall. He defends the tougher guard for Derrick and moves the ball. Wall would help if we trade Kirk somewhere for expiring contracts, Deng and Tyrus to Phoenix for Amar'e, and sign Gay. Then you can run a super SSOL offense, but my god that would be painful defense. The only way I'd like to see Wall is a sign and trade for Bosh. I have no idea what we would do with Wall. But I'm a firm believer in that you ALWAYS take the best player available. I don't care about position.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
The fact that the Bulls are playing so well right now just frustrates me even more. Because ultimately this is still a .500 team. As they have been the last few years. I'd rather suck ass and have a shot at John Wall than make the playoffs as a 7/8 seed and get swept by the Cavs or Celtics. And I still don't believe any marque FA will come here.

The Jim Thome Saga Ends
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) I told wite to not sleep on that guy and why, but he replied back some non sense I don't even remember. Sure he has to do that when the season comes, but from what I heard and from what a scout told Andrew Marchanes(sp?) he "looks like the Liriano of old." Usually it takes 2 years to really come back from TJ. Well... this will be year 2 for Francisco and I see him being a nice dark horse for you guys this season. If the Liriano of 2006 returns we are in DEEP s***.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) Jordan4life, just out of curiosity what do you feel about Lee Harvey Oswald and the chances he did it. I'm gettin that conspiracy theorist vibe from the last few posts... LOL.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) I wasn't going anywhere with that. I was just watching some highlights from last year (not 'the catch') and was just wondering what the D metrics said about him. You sure? Because that question is just a little TOO random. Sure you're not trying to see if Wise's metrics are on the plus side? Then you can say we could've just left him in CF for a lot less money than what we're paying Rios? Anyway, you can go to fangraphs to find what you're looking for.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) This is kinda random, but how good was D-Weezy in center field? What did the metrics say about him? I already know where you're going with that question. I want to know...did Alex Rios do something to you? I mean really. This level of hate is not healthy. You can't possibly be insinuating that you'd rather have Wise in CF over Rios?

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) This kind of odd-retirement stuff seems to only happen to the A's. What with Jeremy Brown packing it in the minute it seemed he had the backup catching spot in the bag. And Desme looked like he was really putting things together, but i can't begrudge the guy for his faith. I can. Dude is a god damn idiot. You can still be holier than thou and make that paper.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) i don't see where the Sox offense has been improved all that much. Pierre for speed and average equals Pods. Teahan might be an improvement but we lost power in not signing Thome and Dye. We need some more offensive punch as the team hasn't gotten much faster Outside of adding somebody like AGON, there's really not a whole lot that could've been done to upgrade the offense THAT much. That's why I haven't been obsessing over guys like Thome and Damon (the latter is quickly becoming Soxtalk's latest obsession). People seem to be in denial or are just flat out ignoring the fact that without rebound years from CQ, Rios and Ramirez, the offense won't be good enough regardless.

MLB Network Profiled League Average Players
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Why? He seems to be on track to match all of these guys. He is? GB had a nice rookie year and all. But I certainly wouldn't say "he's on track" to match those guys. Especially Utley.

MLB Network Profiled League Average Players
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 04:07 AM) I'm not sure whether to be happy or offended that MLB Network considers Alexei Ramirez, Gordon Beckham and Paul Konerko to be American League average players at their 2009 positions (SS, 3B, 1B). They did say a lot of nice things about Buehrle, though. What is there to be offended about? Sounds about right to me.

Question about MLB.com Blackout rules
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 07:08 AM) I live in Chicago. If I subscribe to mlb.com, will any White Sox games be available to me? Nope. I subscribed last year and didn't get any WS games. You can get them once they've been archived. That's it.

SN: Sox Say No to Jim Thome
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:18 AM) You just know Thome's going to go to another team in our division and kick our f***ing ass. You say this about EVERY former White Sox player. If Carlton Fisk came outta 17-year old retirement at age, what, 70, and joined the Twins you would say he's going to no doubt kick our ass.

NBA Slam Dunk Idea
Why do so many pine for Kobe? Don't people remember 1997? Don't get me wrong. A couple of the dunks were nice. But he certainly didn't "wow" anybody. He's never been a "great" dunker. And at 31, I don't think he would add much to the contest other than name recognition.
-
Who do you have the highest expectations for?
Rios and Ramirez. These are our two best players (offense and defense). Based on skillset, no reason both can't be all-stars.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 12:52 AM) Whatever happened to the annual thread where they rate posters like most annoying poster, most fun to go to a bar with, etc? I figured this year after such a wild September I might be voted most hated poster. Sorry this is in a different section but I've been looking for the awards. You definitely can be hard-headed. But you're certainly not, or shouldn't be, on anybody's hate list. Now Witesoxfan? Yes, I loathe/despise that guy.

What does the FO think about saber?
Does it matter? Our manager is Ozzie Guillen. I don't think he could even spell Sabermetrics.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) The best ever... He's really startin' to get to that point. He's the single reason why the Colts are a legitimate SB contender every year. And his commercials crack me the f*** up, too.

The Jim Thome Saga Ends
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) How dare you! Don't get it twisted. I want JT back. I guess I don't like as a fan feeling like we're at the mercy of a 40-year old DH.

The Jim Thome Saga Ends
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) Replacing Nix with Thome on the 25 man, and putting Thome as the DH improves our projected run total by 40 runs. Define better. Wait, what? lol. Let me guess. Bill James, right? That's fine. We don't even know if Nix is going to make the team. Like I said, without CQ, Rios and Ramirez improving, and in Rios' case drastically improving, their production from 2009, this offense is still going to be below average. Jim Thome be damned.
