  1. I want to see Jordan obliterate the Southern league for half a season (and cutting down the strikeouts would be nice) before he's even considered for a spot on the big club.
  2. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) On a random note, boy it's good to see that Tracy McGrady leads Steve Nash in All Star voting by more than 9,000 votes for the West’s second guard spot, despite not having played yet this year. Gotta love the fan vote. Not that this means a thing, but I swear on my family that I'll NEVER, EVER watch another all-star game again if Tracy f***ing McGrady is starting. They seriously need to banish fan voting.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) I'm sure this will probably eliminate the Jenks rumors unless the Rays trade Burrell (freeing up money), or they feel Soriano is better suited as a set-up guy (or Jenks) and want to spend more money on the bullpen. They're not going to be able to trade Burrell without taking back a similar salary (Milton Bradley). Regardless, they're not gonna pay Soriano, who's going to make at least 6.5 million, and Jenks another 7-8 million. That just doesn't make sense for a team that is obviously limited when it comes to their payroll. Great move for the Rays. Soriano is filthy good when healthy. He and Howell should make up a nasty 1-2 punch at the end of games.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) Here is Sickle's Top 20. *Albeit subject to change of course* Seems that no matter how many different lists come out that the common consensus is that Jared Mitchell has HUGE upside. I can't wait to track this guy next year.
  5. Losing by 30 to the Hawks. And this is kinda off topic, but have the Lakers set a record for most home games played before Christmas? They've been at Staples all f***in year.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Wow. That is a lot of money from a guy who there is a better chance at 20 starts than 30 actually happening. As long as his K/9 is in the double digits they'll always be some team out there that will overpay. I actually thought he'd get a little more.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) For a veteran whose had a long history and a BABIP of around .300, a BABIP of .225 just doesn't fit. In this case, it alone can tell a lot. Of course, you can look at what trajectory the balls were, but in Wolf's case, I don't even think that's necessary. He also had the second lowest BAA in his career. These things correlate. Large ballpark + low BABIP = success. Not to mention a pretty damn good defense behind him. I don't think Wolf has anywhere near the season in '10 that he had in '09.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) Spectacular work. Indeed. And I didn't know Santos had this kinda velocity. A curve that tops out at 87MPH? Impressive. I have zero expectations that he'll ever pan out to be anything. But if he does, gravy.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) I tend to agree with you, but when he played Matsui posted a good OPS+ which helps take out some of the new stadium factors. I guess it would depend on the money, they need some more pop IMO and a LF, but trader Kenny will at least be beating the bushes to get something done! I was referring to Crisp. I'd love to have Matsui.
  10. I long for the day that we're not forced to have to settle for reclamation projects or once productive vets coming off some kinda injury (I.E. being able to draft and develop our own talent), therefore making them cheap gets. Crisp doesn't do much for me. Being a better defender and base runner than Pods is nothing to get excited about.
  11. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) I wasnt quite sure but two sources came out with the same rumor, so you never know. I just dont see the Marlins turning that down though. 6 years each of cost certainty Feliz/Smoak would provide vs Josh Johnson's last two arb years? The Marlins management should be banished from the sport forever if they turned that down. I'd have to think really hard not to give up JJ for Feliz alone. That's how good Feliz is. But Feliz AND Smoak? Nope. No way.
  12. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) not without 1-2 major offensive peices. Our offense is really really bad as it stands Well if Rios and Teahen can get back to their 2006/2007 levels of production, along with a healthy CQ, our offense is dramatically improved from a year ago even if we don't add a thing from this point on. Of course, those are three BIG ifs.
  13. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) Holy s***! Marlins offered Smoak and Perez by Texas for Johnson and apparently declined it. I would be all over that move. I cant believe the Marlines didnt accept that. I don't buy that rumor for a second. JJ is filthy good. But he's not THAT filthy good.
  14. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) Are these moves sexy....no but the AL Central is terrible and off of the top of my head there is not a good leftie in the divison.....Laffey maybe? LOL. That's amazing when you think about it. Just a few years ago you had Sabathia, Santana, Lee, Liriano (the dominant version), Kenny Rogers. Probably some more I'm forgetting at the moment. Yeah, the two best lefties by far left in the division pitch for the White Sox.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) The Yankees got a steal here. Austin Jackson wasn't in their plans, Coke can be easily replaced, and Kennedy is crap. This sucks. At least the Tiggers got worse in 2010 though. But they got some payroll flexibility and a ridiculous haul of dirt cheap/impressive talent.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Why? Kennedy probably has little to no value right now because even when he is healthy he doesn't have great stuff and he has had a ton of arm trouble. Coke is a solid reliever but nothing special. Jackson is a good prospect but probably overrated considering his OBP is only about .350 in the minors and he hasn't shown any power. Even in a bad down year Granderson posted a higher OPS in the majors than Jackson posted in a good year in AAA. Yeah, Granderson unquestionably makes the Yankees better. Even if Jackson turns into a star, so what? LOL. The Yankees are the one team that doesn't ever have to worry about traded prospects coming back to haunt them.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) I retracted the proposal, but honestly, i'd have no problem with it. This is assuming, and this is a massive assumption that this is essentially a sign and trade. I want Halladay for three years. If we get that then it's worth it, becasue i think we can fill each and every whole that we open. Felix's head is going to explode if you keep doing this.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Yeah, the Tigers did great. I'm a big fan Granderson fan, so i think the Yankees did well, didn't give up too much for a great player. I think the D-Backs get hosed, gave up a lot of young talent. What the hell happened to Josh Byrnes? I thought he was a very promising up and coming GM a few years ago.
  19. The Tigers get Schlereth as well? God damn. That's a mighty impressive haul. Verlander/Scherzer/Porcello is a mighty impressive trio heading their rotation.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Let's say the Jays call and demand Flowers, Hudson, Viciedo and Jordan Danks. What say you? Me? I'm sort of in the yes column. We don't need Halladay, but it couldn't hurt to have him. Or what if the Rays want Halladay? Do we try to pluck Upton and Navarro (a non-tender guy), while sending the pieces to seal the deal? Can we? What's the upside for the Jays here? I say HELL NO! For AG, I'd deal 3 of the 4 (Hudson is the guy I'd like to keep).
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) BAPIP is a pretty big bull-s*** stat. I do think if you factor it in with line-drive rate and some other stuff that it can turn into a relatively decent piece of information though. It's not a perfect stat (a perfect stat doesn't exist). And I think it's a far better tool to use when breaking down pitchers. But it can be very useful when breaking down hitters year-to-year performance.
  22. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) I wouldn't be surprised one bit if KW landed Halladay. I remember how shocked I was when he traded Freddy Garcia AND Brandon McCarthy in 2006. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he traded some prospects (forget about starting pitching) to the Jays for Halladay, then turned around and used Danks or Floyd plus more prospects to land Adrian Gonzalez. That's how Kenny rolls. I know it sounds like a fantasy, but wouldn't it be cool? This place would be up for grabs... LOL@us having enough prospects to land Halladay AND Gonzalez.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) That sounds pretty much like you're brushing him off to me. That was kinda of a knee-jerk response to WCsox's ridiculous 'I'd like to see a pitcher today win 40 games or pitch 400 innings' comment. But like I said, I'm not getting into some big debate over a dude from over a century ago. There isn't a human being walking the face of the earth that would put Ed Walsh over Frank Thomas among White Sox all-time greats (sad that a franchise that's been around as long as the Sox have don't really have that many to begin with). I've learned over time to pick and choose my message board 'battles.' WCsox is the kinda dude that will post about a specific topic until New Year's in order to get the last word in or to prove he's 'right'. I don't got time for that.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) Edwin Jackson has very high appeal at this point. I don't know why the Tigers shouldn't trade him to get the most value, especially if they get Scherzer back. Makes perfect sense for the Tigers. I don't see Arizona's motivation.
  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) There is a ton of talk about Edwin Jackson, with this amount of activity he almost has to moved. It sounds like the Diamondbacks want him pretty bad. I find this frightening. Scherzer has higher trade value than Edwin Jackson right now so that doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. There was supposedly talk of a 3 team trade involving the Yankees and Curtis Granderson as well which is where Scherzer's name could have been brought up, with a prospect or another piece headed from New York to Arizona. Trading Scherzer in this scenario would be an epic fail.
