QUOTE(BearSox @ May 10, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) I see that Jermey Sowers kid from Cleveland has been doing pretty bad. Ever since his fisrt star against the White Sox, I knew he wouldn't be this big ace or whatever. He really looked unimpressive to me, and has only had 8 K's in 24 or something like that IP. He actually has more walks issued than batters struck out. Sowers has been a real dissapointment to this point.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 11, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Ben is a threat when he's being completely smothered? The Pistons have owned him this series. So if he can't score and Thabo can't score, it'd at least be nice to take away one or two Detroit baskets. Ben can be 0/15 and still be a threat to go off at any moment. You still have to respect him. Thabo has no jumper, shady ball-handling, and just overall makes a lot of dumb mistakes. We gave up 81 points last night. We didn't lose the game because of defense. Did you actually read any of the pre-draft reports? The league he came from is supposed to be better than the NCAA. He was supposed to step right in and contribute. The tall guard the Bulls so desperately needed. I'm not saying the dude is garbage and will never amount to anything. But as far as right now, color me unimpressed. You don't bench your best scorer for a rook with no offensive game. We've scored 69, 87 and 81 points in 3 games. We need Ben out there. Yeah, he's struggled. Just like Hinrich, Deng and every other Bull has struggled? Are they gonna overcome those struggles from the bench? Should we have benched Hirnich for Duhon? Deng for Griffin? It's not as simple as you make it. We're not down 0-3 because of any one particular match up. We're down 0-3 because we're getting our butts handed to us by a much better team. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 11, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) I was more dissapointed in Kirk Hinrich than anyone else in this game, guy totally sucked on both ends of the court the 2nd half, he is apposed to be the captain but yet he was possibly the worse guy out there. Kirk gets a free pass around here. That's quite obvious.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 10, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) Our best scorer, when? He disappeared. He looked okay for about a second today (even broke some ankles late in the 1st half), but why is it taboo to play the guy who's playing better now? I definitely would have liked to see Thabo more, even though he's not (as you point out) the guy who'll make the difference in this series. We don't have that guy. So why not play the better defender? Then who's gonna score, or even be a threat to score? I know Ben struggled in the second half. Just like Luol and Kirk did. We're having enough problems scoring as it is. And what the hell has Thabo done all year? People keep calling for him based off what? The few minutes he played an injured Dwyane Wade well? He's been a bust if you ask me. He was supposed to be the "steal" of the draft and "NBA-ready."

Oh, and as far as the zone goes, and I'm glad my opinion was backed up by coach Skiles, the Bulls simply have missed open shots. Skiles thinks they missed 18-25 open jumpers tonight. I didn't think it was that many, but there were definitely good looks there that we just didn't knock down. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 10, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) f*** this group of heartless, gutless, ballless chokers. Great f***ing job C'mon, Willie. I know it hurts, but you're better than that. Am I the only one that remembers the Jordan/Pippen Bulls getting smacked around 3 straight years before we got to the top? This current Bulls team was not going to win a championship under any circumstance. It's all about progression. We won 8 more regular season games than we did a year ago. We go to the second round this year. That's progess.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Ben Gordon disappeared in the second half. This doesn't need to be said, but when he's not scoring, he's useless. He absolutely got dominated by Billups and Hamilton, blowing right by him no problem. Sefolosha was, at the very least, going to play defense. Something had to be switched up. The Bulls' offense against that zone in the second half was worse than the Marquette offense I watched all year. Something had to change... nobody was in the middle of the zone. Whatever. Hopefully the Knicks pick allows us to take a good back-to-the-basket player. I'd love Horford or Hibbert. So we bench our best scorer for an offensively-challenged rookie who's done pretty much nothing all year? That's how we're gonna beat a team the caliber of Detroit? You can nit-pick (and I'm talking people in general) all you want. If we're relying on guys like Tyrus and Thano to save us, we're doomed already. At some point, you just have to realize that the team we're playing is better. Not just a little better, but considerably better. They have the better starting 5. They have the better bench. They have the experience and know-how that we still lack. Lastly, the Bulls were not as good as they looked against Miami. Playing a team as old and injured as they were was the best thing that could've happened to them. This team still has a ways to go. And I don't have a problem with that. In the NBA, you have to take your lumps before/if you're able to get to the top. This is definitely a lump. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) And also what happens when you don't play defense and miss a few shots. Yeah, I spoke a little too early.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 10, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) The lineup Skiles has on the floor right now is brutal. Why have Sefolosha and Thomas been buried on the bench this half, too? Nocioni and Brown are KILLING the Bulls right now. Get them off the f***ing floor. Neither one of them did anything while they were on the floor in the first half. I agree that Noch has been terrible. However, Brown has played pretty well for the most part. I'm not even that mad. The Bulls are getting a stern education in playoff basketball at this level. The Pistons have been there and done that. They've been to the finals, won a title, ect. Will learn from this.

McCarthy Watch
QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 10, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) There was an interesting comment made about B-Mac today by the Yankees radio commentators. While B-Mac was pitching, they brought up the trade and said that normally you have to wait a few years before assessing the trade, but it looked like the Sox got the better end of the deal right now. The interesting part - They also discussed how they felt that the White Sox might have actually pumped up B-Mac's value by saying he was untradeable and that he was going to be in the rotation in 2007, etc, etc. So if you look back, he has all those great starts late in 2005, but then is relegated to the bullpen in 2006? If the Sox were so high on him, why bring in Vazquez? They mentioned how the Dodgers used to do this all the time. They would actually only allow pitchers to face certain hitters to make them seem better than they actually were. So what do you think? Did the Sox artificially inflate the value of BMac up until the trade? I know you are not going to do anything to lower the value of any of your players, but some of the Sox actions seem to point towards this scenario. If that was their plan, fine by me. I'm more than satisfied with what we got back.

And that's another White Sox winner!!!
QUOTE(Hawkfan @ May 10, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) 2 out of 3 from the angels, 2 out of 3 from the twinkies, ...God we suck right.. lets keep it up boys Hopefully the firesale talk will go away for a while (or atleast until we lose another game.) Kudos tp the pitching, especially the starters.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) Utah wins 116-112, great game. This series looks like it might be another classic. GSW let a golden opportunity go tonight though, they had a great chance to steal one in a very difficult enviornment. Is it me or is Carlos Boozer turning into a superstar? He didn't shoot the ball well tonight. But he dominated the glass and came up a clutch offensive rebound that led to the game-winning score.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 7, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Some people hate him a bit too much, but he is a HUGE reason why they're getting dismantled. Really? I thought the bench going 3/30 with 12 turnovers was a HUGE reason we lost game 1. How about Mr. Golden Boy going 0/7 tonight? I guess it was Ben's fault that we were out-rebounded by 21 tonight? We've been outplayed and outclassed as a team by a better team. That's the end of it. Everybody for Chicago has played poorly.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Well, in this series, 40% is not all that terrible for the Bulls. And saying he has been outplayed does no one any justice and is not relevant to the argument at all. Every player on the Pistons has outplayed his Bulls counterpart. Hell, some of their bench has outplayed our starters. You're the one calling out Ben Gordn every two seconds. I've already said it's been a complete team meltdown the first two games. Nobody has played well.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 7, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) He still played 34 minutes. And after the 1st, he was able to stay out of foul trouble. And I don't see why your laughing at 17 a night. 1.) It's only a bucket under his season average. 2.) He's the only guy giving us some type of offense right now. I laughed at it because you brought it up without even looking at the fact he's shooting, what, 40% in the two games, and that he has been outplayed by his counterpart, Prince. If you want to say he's been our best player so far, which is not saying much, be my guest. But I'm sure he'd even admit he hasn't played well. Fact of the matter is we need both he and Ben to play like they did in the Miami series to have any shot of winning this thing.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) 37-35 Jazz after 1. This is going to be a fun series. And a Dee Brown sighting to boot. Al Harrington with 14 points in the 1st quarter, he didn't score 14 in any single full game last series, lol. That type of pace plays right in the Warriors' hands. Utah has to slow that s*** down if they want to win this series.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 7, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) I'm sorry, but you lost all credibility on that one. Deng hasn't looked good (even though he's dropping 17 a game this series) but Gordon's struggles are because of foul trouble...even though he's scored a total of 20 points in 2 games. Come on now. LOL@17 a night. He's 7/16 and 4/12 in the two games. He's had little-to-no impact in either game. And I didn't say Gordon being in foul trouble is the only reason he's struggled. But that's been a part of it. Hard to get ino a rhythm when you're in-and-out of the game because of foul trouble.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) All but 3 guys looked like s*** for 2 halfs, so that's an improvement. The Bulls had a 52 to 23 edge in FT attempts. The Bulls had 13 turnovers to the Pistons 21. The Bulls only had 24 fouls to the Pistons 36. Steals were 9 to 4 Bulls, blocks were 5 to 1 Bulls. The free goal percentage of the Bulls was up tonight, the Pistons was about the same. And the Bulls STILL lost by 21, and were outrebounded by 21. That tells you this: The Pistons actually are that much better. how scary. The Pistons are shooting that ball at an incredible percentage. They move the ball really well. It helps that every member of their starting 5 is an offensive threat. I don't expect them to shoot as well in Chicago.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) L1KE OMGZ BEN JORDON FOR MVPEEEEEE! Did Ben Gordon kill your dog? This has been a pathetic display by the ENTIRE team. Let's face it: Detroit is not Miami. The only thing the Heat had going for them was they were defending champs. The Pistons present a host of different problems for the Bulls. One, we can't stop their guards. We've got nobody that can contain Billups. Chauncey is too strong and thick for our guards. Hinrich is obviously our best chance against him. Problem with that is Ben Gordon is matched up with either the 6'7 Richard Hamilton or the 6'9 Tashuan (is that how you spell it?) Prince. Second, we also can't stop Rasheed Wallace. He's a tough cover because he's such a strong threat from the perimiter. Well, P.J. Brown is like 100 and has no business trying to defend 23 feet from the basket. Tyrus is too young and inconsistent to be expected to play heavy minutes against anyone, let alone a Rasheed Wallace. Who else do we have? Webber is also making life rough for us. He might be past his prime, but he can still shoot and score in the post. We can't double him because they have so many other guys that can hurt you. So he's going 1 on 1 against whoever and doing his thing. Third, their bench is killings ours. With Nocioni obviously hurting, we've got no offense coming from the bench. Duhon, Tyrus, Griffin and Thabo are all offensively-challenged. They're getting contributions from multiple guys off their bench. Fourth, Deng and Gordon have to score. We're offensively-challenged as it is. We need those two guys to play well very badly. Deng hasn't looked good at all. He just doesn't seem to be in any sort of rhythm (credit the Pistons D for that). Gordon has been in foul trouble both games. We simply can't afford to have him on the bench. His scoring is critical. Kirk also has to look to score more. Lastly, I'm not that dissapointed that we're down 0-2. I'm dissapointed that we've gotten our butts kicked twice, but I never expected us to win the series. We're very much improved from a year ago. But we're still very much flawed. And the Pistons are exposing our flaws and then some. Paxson has done a great job, but there's still a lot of work to be done. We desperately need to get a low-post scorer.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 6, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Look at the line-up. Their isn't a non-player change that could be made right now that would make it any more potent. I have looked at the lineup, and our offensive woes go back to the all-star break of last year. No reason whatsoever that our offense should be this bad. And we can't even really use Thome as an excuse. We haven't hit all year.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
I think I'm on the fire Greg Walker bandwagon now. It's not even that I think it's all his fault. But something has to happen. These guys need a change or a different voice. The pitching is fine. It's even better than I expected. But we're not going to win games with this kind of putrid offense. We simply cannot afford to fall too far back of the Indians and Tigers. Something needs to happen now!

The White Sox are an Average Team
When was the last time we had the hitting and pitching hot at the same time? The '05 playoffs? If we could ever get both going at the same time, we'd be outstanding.
