  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) At this point I don't like this trade but I wouldn't be saying stupid s*** like that, it makes you look incredibly dumb. exactly. i remember a certain trade last year that we ALL HATED initially... hmm which one was that? KW knows what he's doing. I too am really disappointed to see rowand go - like REALLY. i love the guy - he was one of my fav. sox. but ya know, things have to go down and I trust KW
  2. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) I miss the days of Brandofan and israel4ever i echo that sentiment. i liked arguing w/ israel4ever

    Harry Potter

    QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) I actually heard people came away unsatisfied, due to a lot of details being left out. I find that pretty shallow, personally...you try keeping a movie under 5 hours and getting even 75% of the scenes of a 734 page book. It would not be easy. I lost my interest in Harry Potter after a while...it just became to childish for me, to be quite honest. But I did read books 1-4, and I loved them. childish my ass. up till 4 i guess you could say that. but 5 and 6 are downright dark and i dont know HOW they'll be rated lower than R in theatres. Lots of death and destruction and they're clever and funny as well. not kids stories AT ALL.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) God is screwing Lisa Dergan? I thought he only knocked up virgins? well played sir, well played
  5. welcome aboard! nice to see a new member who's a real hardcore fan as opposed to all these bandwagoners!!!!
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Don't buy it for a second. 1st, we have two catchers in Pierz and Widge. 2nd, Oz has said he is looking for more speed. Unless we are brining in a guy that can hit 35 HR's a year, were not going to go after guys that would lose to Kong in a footrace. 3rd, while were not in a payroll crisis, the Sox are also going to be careful with there money, and you have to think Piazza will be very overpriced for what your getting. Just doesnt make sense. PASS 1. He DHs 2. If we lose kong we need someone who can hit homers. in the Cell Piazza could be pretty good. Shea is a horrible hitters park 3. Piazza will not be expensive by any stretch of the imagination
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Erm.. didn't we just resign Widger? And isn't Widger.. like.. Widger? I don't see us carrying three catchers. cept Piazza can DH and Widge - no way he is an everyday DH...
  8. personally, i'd love it. not gonna lie
  9. Jerry Owens - OF - White Sox White Sox prospect Jerry Owens went 4-for-6 yesterday to raise his VWL average to .407. It certainly doesn't get as much attention as the Cristian Guzman signing, but one of Nats GM Jim Bowden's worst moves since taking over was to give Owens to the White Sox in exchange for Alex Escobar. Owens, 24, hit .331/.393/.406 with 38 steals in 58 attempts for Double-A Birmingham last season and is batting .407/.490/.494 in 81 AB in Venezuela. Nov. 8 - 1:38 pm et i think i'd be ok seeing him up next year. although i dunno about having him as a benchwarmer - guy like him needs to be playing until a starting spot opens up.
  10. im with bighurt4325387503 on this one. frank's not gonna be expensive - a drop in the bucket. why NOT take the chance? ok keep willie or g-load in AAA (unless they're out of options - dont really know how that works) and replace one of them with frank. if he falters, fine, bring the guy back up. i know that then would still leave the issue of what to do w/ DH, but hey, on a normal year theres always the trade deadline and KW always manages to make the right move. i dunno i just feel like he's not THAT much of a risk.
  11. the widge is my hero. i'm glad he's back - i'd miss that sexy stache.
  12. get this, similar story: was leaving the shoot for the movie i was an extra in at Soldier Field. i was talking on the phone and then i got to the bus, then to the el. while on the el i realized i no longer had my phone. i was like "oh s*** my phone's gone". and i'd resigned myself to that. a good friend of mine said she'd try and call my phone to see if someone answered. she called a billion times but no luck. then at 6:30 the next morning she gets a call from my phone and a deep voice says: 'hey - i've got your phone'. they talk for a bit and we find his name is Lamingo... yeah... Lamingo. he lives south of the 95th/Dan Ryan stop and me being a skinny white kid from iowa... not gonna lie, didnt wanna go down there. then at like 7am my mom called my phone expecting me to pick up. well she was in for a bit of a surprise. eventually after talking with this dude while scared out of her mind, they decide that he'll drop it off at a sprint store in hyde park which he did a couple days later. the dude didnt have to go out of his way like that but he did and i have my phone back which is amazing. but the really odd part - is this random guy from south south chicago knew my area code and actually had been planning a trip to my FREAKING home town that weekend... in iowa... bizarre... anyway just felt this kinda fit the topic
  13. i agree with ESPN on this one... i've been saying all along, WS or no the Indians should be the team to beat next year.
  14. guys i now officially know where to go when i want someone to read over one of my papers. lol wow it's like a writing lab in here.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Grace was retired this year. That was a '03/'04 highlight. yeah he didnt say it was this year - reread it. s'all good tho. also you just gotta love the tarpsliding - even, again, if it's not a play
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) HELL YEAH sweetness, whatever it is it'll be cool! i love ya brooks
  17. ESPN article very fun article - i especially love the bit about our starting staff going 113 innings in the postseason without giving up a 3 run inning. only team to ever go that long. in fact only 6 teams have gone more than 40 innings. holy s*** we were good.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) Timo@1st -- Not so funny at the time. The shortest 1B this side of Eddie Gaedel. lol not a play at all... but what about timo's rally panty idea? ... didnt catch on exactly but it was a funny story.
  19. whattabout the Uribe deek of Derrek Lee - that was effin awesome! oooooh and AJ stomping on Aaron Boone's back right after Boone had done some damage (HR i think?)
  20. i've actually been thinking about getting one as well... think i'd prolly go along the lines of just the sox logo w/ the 2005 or '05 underneath/around whatev...
  21. worst f***ing song EVER! and i love it
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) A lot of great things have come from Iowa, like, like, ahhhh, like ahhh, someone help me here, ahhh corn, yeah, corn. And I'm certain something else. like me! ... ... seriously though um... Ryan Sweeney?
  23. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) Ortiz was always hurt thats why the organization got rid of him. We couldnt afford to keep him around with Carl 'TightWallet' Pohlad if you look at his games played stats with the BoSox, youll see that he doesnt miss too much time anymore. But I am kind of happy The Sox are good, because rooting for rivalry games are fun and exciting Too bad the Twins wernt that good this year. But maybe next thanks much for the comments, and i whole heartedly agree with you on the rivalry. i mean, rivalries are one of the really great things about baseball and those tend to suck when there's only one good team. next year should be a helluva year with the sox, indians and hopefully twins all being very good teams. should be amazing. best of luck (cept when you play the sox!)
  24. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) this is sure up there though the red eyes and the lipstick do it for me.
