I know the Western Avenue guy pretty well. He's hosting WhiteSoxCentral.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) I think he should start in Charlotte Clever.

To the Iron & Wine fans, check out their new single Woman King. Evening on the Ground is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

What a f***ing win.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Yikes. I don't know if I like this. I still advocate the selection of Cedric Benson in the #4 spot as he is much younger than Edge and will have time to work his way into the Bears offense behind Thomas Jones. If you give a young runner with the talent of Cedric time to learn a new system and study film and running backs in the NFL, he could easily surpass what Edge's talent. Hold on to the pick. Hold on to the defender. Don't make the move. And he just as easily could not.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) For me, Tice has been an asshole since, as the Vikings O-line coach, he told Korey Stringer to suck it up and that drinking water was for babies. :fyou Tice It's not that uncommon for a coach to say something like that. -
Why does a seven year old have a cell phone?

WSC is back up April 1. I'll make sure to have a chat room. I'll talk to Jason about putting a Chat link back up too.

Anything I've ever written should be in a shrine. Also made into films.

WhiteSoxCentral.com is set to be launched on April 1st. If anyone would like to contribute anything at all, e-mail me at [email protected] . All the writers are set, but if anyone would still like a chance, e-mail me a 200 word minimum piece on absolutely anything to prove that you can write. I am not looking for part time writers, full time for 1-2 articles/week. As far as the writers that are already set, please e-mail me so I can give you details on what to due for the upcoming launch. Sorry, I'd e-mail you, but the addresses are lost amoungst 100's of others. Thank you.

The only award I care about is best original screenplay. If Charlie Kaufman's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind doesn't win, I'll announce the Oscars as crap.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) Kurt Kobain had lots of issues with himself (duh) and I don't care what he said about his lyrics, the man spoke for a generation. Even today his lyrics loom loudly. All bulls*** aside, he's a terrible writer.

I am currently reading On Writing by Stephen King. It is a valuable book to anyone looking to become a writer. I also reccomend it to anyone that has no thoughts of becoming a writer. It's an amazing book.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Dude, you named yourself after him and everything (props), but I have close to 100 of his bootlegs. I've heard plenty. I came off as a bastard, I didn't mean to. I idolize the man and he's been the inspration to my career. When people insult him, his writing and his music with having no knowledge of him, I get extremely pissed off.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) And after the tragic death of John Lennon and Kurt Kobain, I don't know that there is a lyricisit alive who owns the right to say that like Dylan. And I will say it is interesting to see who replied to this before most. Kurt Cobain is hardly a good writer. He admitted himself that most of his lyrics didn't make sense.

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Dylan is overrated and his music is horses***. You wouldn't know what overrated is if it smacked you in the face. He's a poet, and a brilliant one at that.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Haha, yeah. He was a terrific writer, and I absolutely love some of his tracks (especially "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" and "Like A Rolling Stone"), but a good chunk of his material will bore you to death, and in a lot of cases, it just doesn't sound right musically. But yeah, he's right on the money in saying that my generation is made up of completely useless, worthless musicians. Bob Dylan is a prophet; it's apparent you haven't explored much of his music if you think Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Like A Rolling Stone are two of his few musically correct songs. He has 43 albums for f*** sakes, the two songs you named are hardly his best.

Well, I saw the Kings of Convenience at Schubas last night and I bet that is better than Dane Cook. I love Dane Cook though. But seriously, if you read this message and have not heard The Kings of Convenience music, give it a listen. FANTASTIC.
