My profound thought for the day is that next year Jose will be a year older. His average keeps goiong down, so his age will be working against him. Next year he might be struggling to stay above the Mendoza Line.

I remember when the Indians stole Omar from Seattle in the early 90's. They got him for nothing. Seattle's only motive was to not pay his salary, and they got some SS who could not pay at all. ARod was still two yrs away.

I caught today's game with Detroit's announcers. They need help. They called our catcher Bob Davis, they got Willie Harris and Timo Perez mixed up, and then one of them said the Sox score plenty of runs. Makes Hawk look good.

1. Lots of employers have dress codes. 2. No one here knows what kind of pressure the Yankees put on Loaiza to shave. It might have been very subtle; he might have shaved on his own just to fit in. I doubt if anyone put a gun to his head. 3. Shaving improved his looks. He looks five years younger.

He is the best player on the team right now.

Uribe made several bonehead plays with the Rockies the last two years, and he drove Clint Hurdle crazy. Usually in the second half of the season. I didn't see this one, however.

Who cares about a player's politics? I mean, if a guy is a terrorist or mass murderer or something like that, I can understand not wanting him. I couldn't care less about a player's political leanings.

I don't get Cliff Politte. He obviously throws hard and relies on his two seam fastball which has a big time break away from lefties (Carlos Guillen). So everytime he aims it at the outside corner and, voila, it breaks a foot and half outside for a ball. Every time. Why doesn't the stupid sonavab**** aim it on the inside or the middle and then let it break toward the outside corner.

You guys who are so anxious to trade Sweeney are nuts. 14 months ago he was in high school. He goes straight to High A Ball and succeeds. It's not like he is hitting .280 in Great Falls. If we have to trade him, do it next year and we can get a lot more than Cliff Floyd for him. Anyone who thinks Old Cliff will put us over the top are naive.

I bet Jose is back with us for 1-2 yrs at about $5MM/yr.

Wilson had a tremendous year last year until he ran out of gas in September. He can hit, but he is not as good an outfielder as Rowand, and I have seen them both play a lot. We would not have to give up much for him.
