QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Then when he gets injured again we can say we're sans Quentin . There is a tv show about the prison on Hulu, pretty crazy s***.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Lets just say used to be Jim Hellwig, and he came back as Ultimate Warrior, and Vince McMahon told him to take a hike Man, I used to kinda like him as a poster but when will someone give up. Or maybe even a simple apology is all thats needed and he can come back on good terms...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 02:27 AM) No chance. They've been preaching "position flexibility" for the last 6 months. They could've brought back Jim Thome for peanuts. But decided not to. To bring in a worse version of Jim Thome at this point would be the epitome of hypocrisy. I wouldnt mind giving him a minor league contract, gives Charlotte a big bopper they can enjoy watching and if one of Kotsay/Jones end up being a total bust or an injury to anyone he could be called up. Unless its Pierre in which case Id imagine De Aza gets the call.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) No, I have not seen him have any real hard plays, but just going on his history, the fact he is back in shape, and the amount of time he has spent in CF, it appears he must be at least adequate out there, and Rios has recently been a RF, so it's not a big change for him. I am in favor of doing anything to keep Quentin out of the field, and I think that Jones can be at least as good as Quentin defensively. Thats how the top CF's are though, for example many considered Brian Anderson one of the best defensive CF's in mlb but how many times did it look like he made a real hard play. When your good, the hard plays look easy

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 01:33 AM) Wonder if the Bears will make a run at either Flozell "The Hotel" Adams or Ken Hamlin who were both released by Dallas today. Chris Williams is the LT for the present and future so I dont think Adams is a target for the Bears but Id imagine they would have to take a look at Hamlin.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 08:47 AM) It is more my experience that the people who don't like him just aren't saying anything. I seriously doubt any one person's opinion flipped of Rosenthal based on this one article. I never thought of him as an idiot, but it has seemed he has been biased against the wsox in the past which makes him choosing them to win the WS a little bit surprising.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) I was just as shocked. I remember hearing the sox saw him as another Ellsbury clone. Guess not. I thought that was Tyler Kuhn.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I dont care what you say. This will be epic Only missing Jean Claude Van Damme because he thought he was too good for it.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Here is mine. Yes, some rivalry teams are in the same division. Also remove the DH, everyone plays by the same rules. But I think logistically this makes the most sense. I have no idea if someone has posted similar as well. I haven't read the entire thread. Flame away!! NL East New York Mets Washington Nationals Pittsburgh Philadelphia Cincinnati NL South Atlanta Tampa Bay Florida Houston Texas NL Midwest St. Louis Chicago Cubs Colorado Arizona Kansas City AL North Chicago White Sox Minnesota Detroit Milwaukee Seattle AL East NY Yankees Boston Baltimore Cleveland Toronto AL West LA Angels LA Dodgers Oakland As San Diego San Francisco You cant have an odd number of teams in each league. Move Seattle to Al West and one of Colorado, Cincy, Pittsburgh, KC to Al North

My friend bought it a few weeks back and said it was terrible.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) You mean like 10 years ago, right? That show has been awful for quite a while now, they just stopped trying. The 3 animated shows I enjoyed were American Dad, Futurama, and King of the Hill and right now none of those are having new episodes. Although the first 2 should hopefully both be having new episodes in near future. Simpsons has been bad for a long time and Family Guy actually has been pretty terrible too.

Cubs promote OF Tyler Colvin to MLB
GoodAsGould replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Why would the Cubs promote their 24-year-old top prospect OF Tyler Colvin to the major league team, when he has yet to even play in AAA, and will just sit on the bench behind Soriano, Bryd, Fukudome, and Nady? Nady cant even throw the ball so he is a pinch hitter for the first few months of the season and sounds like he will be filling in each position and will play at least 3-4 games a week. -
How many games will this team win in 2010?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:16 AM) Not flamed, but I certainly disagree. I think the Twins are the overwhelming favorites to win the division and we know we have to win the division to make the playoffs. We won't be winning the wildcard I don't think. I love our rotation but we know Mark gives up runs on occasion and we know Danks/Floyd is not yet ultra consistent, though I think Danks is almost there and Floyd not far behind. Freddy is hittable. Peavy hopefully will be a god. I dont think in anyway are the Twins the overwhelming favorites, slight favorites I can agree upon. Fact is, every season usually a few team that surprise you so who knows the wildcard can come from the Central too, all I do know is with the pitching staff this team should be competitive and looking forward to a good season. -

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) I think Miller's almost a lock to bolt for Houston this off-season to rejoin Rick Adelman as some Yao insurance, but we'll wait and see on that. Alexander's not a NBA caliber player at this point, he'll be lucky to stay on with the Bulls next season. The Bulls hit on Gibson though, and they have him locked up for another 3 years at a good rate right? I think both Gibson and Johnson have shown to be solid picks for the Bulls, I also agree with bringing back Law and if he is available would love Henry in the draft. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 03:12 AM) Worst day of my (Sox) life. I literally cried when I heard Bmac was traded. I was actually pretty ecstatic about the trade, everyday my one friend would tell me how awesome the trio of Danks, Volquez, Diamond(DVD) were going to be. Id always tell him the only one I cared for of the bunch was Danks.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Oh, and just to add insult to injury.. (no pun intended) James Johnson has a plantar fascia tear in his right foot. Though I'm sure Vinny would use Pargo, Flip, etc.. as a SF long before Alexander. Thats tough, I definitely think Johnson has a bright future and being able to see his ability late in season makes me wonder why he was getting no minutes to begin it. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) He was there though. If the NCAA thing was magic, Notre Dame would have been handed the 1978 National Championship trophy. All the other members of the Final Four that year were stripped from the record books due to NCAA rules violations. It doesnt matter if he was there, it doesnt count -
Criteria for winning a Gold Glove:
GoodAsGould replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) Alexei actually has good range though (+4.1), that's the thing. He just screws up routine plays, which shows up in his error runs (-1.8). Jeter's range is horrific (until this past year). So yeah, indeed, if Alexei gets his fielding% up, he'll get a gold glove and actually be a good defensive SS. As for White Sox winning it, it was sad to see Crede never get one, even when he was better than Chavez. Once Jeter stops winning them, the future of gold gloves in the SS position should be headed towards Texas every season. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Feliz? He's not going to sniff AAA. Hunter and Harrison are also on the opening day roster. Hunter is definitely begining the season in AAA, he had a late spring training and for some reason the Rangers decided to put Colby Lewis and CJ Wilson in their starting rotation so Harrison prob in AAA too. I assumed Feliz might be down there too because they want him to be a starter, and right now their rotation is full. I guess Harrison is starting in the bigs, still leaves that AAA staff with Holland, Hurley, Hunter, B-Mac, and Perez? Perez is a better prospect than Feliz anyways lol.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) Didn't he coach in the National Championship game with Memphis? He was also in the '96 Final Four with UMass. The Memphis season was stripped away. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Brandon McCarthy sent to AAA. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Id never call McCarthy mighty, not too mention Texas now has B-Mac, Feliz, Hunter, Hurley, and Harrison on their AAA roster, thats a pretty sick staff. Forgot Holland too
