Pretty simple overall, You make him available for a very high price. If any team buys --> you accept, if there's not a suitor, you keep him. His contract situation and time when he becomes a free agent is the thing that is concerning. He has proven this year that he can be extremely valuable if this is the type of player he is. So, patience is the best bet now.

Avi won me over. I went into the season wondering why he was still on the team, but he has clearly worked incredibly hard and has become one of the best hitters in the AL. Unfortunately, with his service window that means the best route is likely to trade him for a great return.

That's a pretty hefty return for Detroit.

I only do one team, a Yahoo 10-team Public league, quite shallow rosters, but I don't follow football much... With that being said, I am f***ing loving my team this year, so I had to post to boast about it QB Tom Brady (I think is the #1 QB this year with the options he has, plus he's fun as hell to watch which is important to me) WR OBJ (Prima-donna, but fun as hell to watch and my pick for #2 WR this year) WR Michael Thomas (I think a top 6 WR this year, could blossom) WR Stefon Diggs / Allen Robinson (Very solid WR3) RB: Bunch of random s***, sorry, don't know many of them, I have like 6-7 RB's, my main two are CJ Anderson and Mike Gillipsie (NE) TE Rob Gronkowski (My #1 TE and if he can stay healthy will absolutely kill it for me with Brady) B: Tons of RBs and Cam Newton sliped to me The combo of Brady+OBJ+Thomas+Gronk is insane to me. My strategy is simple in Yahoo redraft leagues.. Every year there is only 3-6 teams out of 10 that are active. The rosters are so shallow that this means by mid-season the free agent wire will be busting with good options... and the most usual suspect is the RB position due to the massive amount of turnover and the resulting prime candidates. That's why I always decide to draft RB's last and instead focus on the top talent like QB/TE (Brady/Gronk) and WR's that produce amazing games (OBJ / Thomas).

**World Soxtalk Championship Wrestling Thread V**
iWiN4PreP replied to Brian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I agree with you Rowand44. I've only read about it (not watched). Initially, I was very upset that they'd waste the MITB cash in like this, but in the end, it accomplishes a lot of goals: -Makes SD feel like 'must watch' TV -Adds fuel to the Cena feud -Makes Naka's title win at SS feel greater (since no threat of cash in) -Takes the MITB case off of Corbin who simply wasn't ready Although it does beg the question of why give it to Corbin in the first place... so f*** these guys. -
heh, that's no fun, the fun is gaming the system . I've ran multiple simulations now and I can resign every player for the next couple of years and have a dynasty team. I'm also able to swing a trade of George Springer + 2 Top level prospects for Mike Trout after year 1 to give myself an OF of Ken Griffrey, Trout, Harper, Betts (1 DH). Additionally, in some simulations I am able to sign Orlando Cepeda (sp) who is a legend, but in mlb the show is a young 24 year old A potential 94-99 OVR first baseman. Pretty kick ass. Also, it's very easy to game the rule 5 draft. Simply make sure you have room on your 40 man roster and room on your total roster and then enter the draft and simply draft 10 A level prospects then immediately package 3 of them to trade for 1 dope prospect (who doesn't need to be kept on the MLB 25 per the rule 5 draft rules). I've been able to get Bergmaan and Trea Turner rather easily doing this, amongst others. DOPE

2018: Lost year, hopefully the management can make some more (but discrete) moves. Wouldn't mind picking up a handful of free agents, especially relivers/starters on minor deals to flip them at this deadline or next years. Just keep plugging away. 2019: Depending on what we do in Free Agency, this will be the first really exciting year. Our team should be shaping up, the 'spects should be coming up, and we will have a lot of fun (or misery if the 'spects don't work out) 2020: A good deadline to set for time to compete. Here, we should be competing for a playoff/wild card spot. A miss on one of these is not a complete failure, but we need to no longer be cellar dwellers. We need to be fighting this year. Another hugely exciting year. 2021: By this year we should be able to determine whether our build design was a failure or a success. Assuming we're in the playoffs with a great team should be the goal. If we aren't making the playoffs here, we are looking at a failure of a job.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
iWiN4PreP replied to Superstar Lamar's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good to turn Clippard into something. Nicely done. Highly impressive job by the management here to not get lazy on these lower end deals. -
This is a total "Cool story, bro" moment, but I just got MLB the Show 17 this past week and started a franchise with the Seattle Mariners. I played using a fantasy draft and included aall legends available in the game. I got the #3 draft spot and selected Ken Griffrey Jr. from that spot. In round 2 I got Bryce Harper. Round 3 I selected Corey Seager, and Round 4 I got Carlos Correa. Round 5, George Springer. Pretty awesome draft. I've made maybe 50+ trades and have played about 10 or so games into the regular season. My team is the following: C: Gary Sanchez 1b Anthony Rizzo 2b Carlos Correa SS Corey Seager 3b Kris Bryant OF: Bryce Harper, Ken Griffrey Jr., Mookie Betts DH: George Springer Bench: Yoan Moncada (primary backup infield: 2b, 3b), A. Beninteri (Primary backup OF), Will Myers (Back up 1b, back up Outfield), Kyle Schwarber (Backup Catcher, Backup OF), Luis L. (26 year old SS, super speed and defense, top 50 propsect) SP: Noah Syndegaard, Chris Archer, Carlos Martinez, Micheal Fulmer, Danny Salazar RP K Kela, Yimi Garcia, J. Cossart CP: Aroldis Chapman, Micheal Wade (top 50 prospect, age 26, potential A), Rasiel Iglasias In the minors I have Reynaldo Lopez and a bunch of other A level potential/top prospects. Yeah, it's a 'cool story bro', but what makes it cool is that almost everybody on my team is a young guy in the game (sans 27) and almost everybody can run and field well. Additionally, not a single person on the team is in 'low morale' and only a few are unhappy with the region they play in. And that bench is so dope it keeps everybody fresh. Just super fun. In case anyone is wondering how I did it: the MLB teams severely underestimate top prospects in the draft and then end up trading basically anything for them after... simple strategy. Load up on prospects in the early middle rounds of drafts and then load up on veteran RP pitchers and turn the prospects into absolute studs like Kris Bryant, etc. and turn the RP pitchers into serviceable young players or more A level prospects.

Crazy error on that throw, lol.

Tough to get behind the Sox when their sending Shields out on the mound, but I understand why he's still with the team. When you get ReyLo going, you want the Sox to dominate. ReyLo + Moncada + even to an extent Anderson is the future. Now, it's just watching for the joy of baseball or seeing a bit of Moncada.

By the way, the game was AWESOME to be in attendance at. The fireworks display afterwards was phenomenal. Weather was great. I was at a Cubs game 10 days ago and now a Sox and the Sox just have an overall better experience to enjoy a game.

What time do gates open for Guranteed rate park? In specific, if I went to the game tonight scheduled for 7:10pm do thy open at 5:10pm or at 5:40pm (90 minutes before) ? -
Great analysis Cali. Love the positive vibes, only got a chance to catch some of the game. No doubt it is important to recognize the good times from some of our players that will be here in the future (or will net us a good trade down the line).

Are backpacks allowed in Guaranteed Rate park?

Domonic Brown: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/5379/domonic-brown "Rockies released OF Domonic Brown. Brown, now 29 years old, batted .304/.327/.449 with three homers and 21 RBI over 48 games with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate. The former All-Star hasn't appeared in the majors since 2015 and will try to earn his way back on the radar elsewhere. Aug 1 - 11:50 AM" Jurickson Profar : http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/6248/jurickson-profar Jurickson Profar was held out of Monday's lineup with Triple-A Round Rock after he expressed frustration for not being traded at the deadline. Profar has since been placed on the 7-day disabled list in Triple-A. The Rangers reportedly looked around for a potential fit before the deadline, but they were unable to find a deal. The former top prospect has appeared in 22 games with the Rangers this season, but he's spent the majority of the year in Triple-A while batting .300/.386/.440 with four homers, 37 RBI, and a 25/31 K/BB ratio over 67 games. His frustration is understandable, but there's still no clear opening for him on the major league roster. He's under team control through 2019, but his future with Texas is very much in question. Aug 1 - 11:36 AM Both players have had some issues. With Brown, it is likely baseball related where he will never reach his true prospect status. With Profar, he is simply blocked at the major league level and ultimately needs a trade. I feel the White Sox should invest in Brown for a chance. They should also try to swing a deal for the talented Profar if possible. Any thoughts?
-
Astros continually refuse to trade their 'spects for important pieces. Think about how the Astros would be with Chris sale? Quintana? Darvish/Gray/Verlander/etc. Astros with Sale are frightening.
-
Astro's are the real losers here. Didn't swing a deal other than bullpen help (1 player, forgot who). They need SP. I am looking for them to lose in the playoffs due to SP issues.
-
I kind of think that you are looking too much into this. This is simply a team (Twins) who were buyers and then had a terrible week and both Cleveland and KC had great weeks, so they instantly became sellers. They made a smart move selling their one bought chip. Their time to rise was never this year, but it is coming soon for them (hopefully).
-
Cool. Good luck to Melky in KC! Very nicely done White Sox management to make the trades happen. I don't have a lot to complain, they chose a path and they are going down it! nice.
