Crawford to Boston, $142 Million, 7 Years
qwerty replied to Leonard Washington's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 02:09 AM) When he's healthy, Crawford is a 6-7 win player, like he was last year. But a couple of years down the line, he might only be a 4-5. Eventually, he'll be average (2 wins) or less by the end of the contract. Who knows what stat we'll use by then... And I'd say he's one of the best left fielders in all of baseball. I wouldn't take too many others before him in left. From 2003-2007 he played 143 games or more. Zero times was he worth 6+ wins. No higher than 4.8 actually... and as low as 3. The past two seasons he stood at 5.7 and 6.9. I realize it could be argued that he is currently in his prime and will be for another few years... but to say his true talent level is that of a 6+ win player based on his state of health alone is inaccurate. This is easily his peak year as far as i'm concerned, which is not a knock againt him, it's hard for anyone to duplicate such a season other than pujols, who seemingly could do so in his sleep. Btw, i hate the fact that he is a pansy and refuses to play center. It's pathetic. -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187043/ I had a lot of fun with this film. This is a very original story, considering it's from bollywood, who are known for their remakes of movies from other countries. Foreign film, subtitles, 2 hours and 40 minutes long? Only one i can think of watching it on this site is IamtheHBOMB. What a shame that is, as there are great messages in this film. Don't be scared off by comments on imdb on imdb's message boards, because those that knock it barely seem literate, so it's no shock it went way over their heads. The main idiot rancho (who just so happens to be a genius) has just become one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

I sure hope kotsay gets bolded and italicized when and wherever he signs.

The nice thing is there are several options at first base, some better than others, but still several solid choices to choose from. I would be very hesitant in the long run... which is the ultimate goal for any business/franchise. People are throwing around the idea of a large commitment to konerko, on top of two huge commitments to rios and dunn? The sox have one of the biggest question marks in the game with all things considered in peavy. Peavy is guaranteed 33 million over the next two years to be nothing more than what i already mentioned, a question mark. A smart move has to be made. A smart move, in my opinion, is not retaining a player at 10+ million for 3 years, given our situation. Floyd/ danks will eventually get paid, and get paid well, soon. Let's say quentin just so happens to tear the cover off the ball (one of the leagues bests) this up coming season. Unrealistic? Yes, probably. Beyond belief? No. But the man would be paid, and he would be paid by the white sox. These things have to be considered. There is a ton of money potentially locked up in only a select few. One or two more long term, extremely expensive contracts, over the next two seasons will be enough to cripple this team for many years to come. I see someone coming in on a one year deal, and there very well could/will be an option for a second year. If not, a straight up two year deal can not be written out of the equation for whoever is brought in. I'm not against what happened today, i'm all for it, but what people have to remember is there will always be three sides to every story ever told.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) Every one of the movies left out details that were very important in the book. That's only logical... even in the very best of adaptations. Otherwise book adaptations would be upwards of 6 hours long if people wanted the proper detail. This is the day and age in which people are lucky to have a long enough attention span to watch a measly 90 minute film... if not even less.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) My wife pretty much hates horror films so I've seen very few since we've been together, but I grew up on a steady diet of them starting with the old Universal flicks and Svengoolie and all the Godzilla-type films. They were a huge part of my childhood. How about this?

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) I like the Pena idea, but he may want more money than Konerko. What he wants and what he gets is a different thing entirely.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) Pretty much spot on with everything. Completely wrong with absolutely everything Hardly shocking.

No direct to video? No made for t.v.? There are movies that could very easily make a persons list, even if it made it via the guilty pleasure route. Seemingly everything under the sun other than pure horror with halloween coming up? Genres do tend to coincide, sometimes making it hard to distinguish if the film is more horror based, sci-fi, fantasy, etc, i will give you that much. Generally though, in my personal opinion, it's rather easy to distinguish what type of genre a certain film is. What does the thief of bagdad (1940 - sabu) or the wizard of oz have in common with any slasher/zombie/ creature feature? Absolutely nothing. The list, with the current guidelines, are simply too broad.

They should have taken out kotsay in the middle of his at bat so that he could have also received a standing ovation. Damn shame.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) MDGonzales Oz "I don't want him to think if he goes 0 for 4 he's going to die." What the hell is going on here. He doesn't want him to think he is going to die? In what regard? Either ozzie guillen is scared that the fans would lash out towards ramirez if he didn't reach base in a game, and that ramirez is too weak mentally to handle it. Or it's simply he is just afraid that ramirez would be too weak mentally to handle not reaching base and it would carry over for the rest of the season? Clearly neither is logical. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The money aspect definitely angers me. But the bigger, more valid point, is the fact that ramirez reaches base 2 out of every 5 times to the plate, which is something we could desperately use at this point. Not only does he just reach, but he does so with authority. We need every base reached, hit, run, and win potentially possible at this point in time. The sox are not 4 games up, or tied, they are four huge games back. Making up 4 games in 31 games against tough competition is even harder than it looks to the naked eye. The optimist in people might make it look easily attainable, but i guarantee you otherwise. No need to throw a game to wayside with the mentality that they will go get em' the next day, and that everything will be alright on this given day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At least we know for a fact that people have never slept on a plane during their flight, nor has anyone ever taken a nap once off of a plane while they had time to kill before they had something to do. Never ever.
-
I know badger has backed ramirez in regards to him not playing today due to his flight. All that i have to say to that, is give me a break. The very least someone can do for $120,000 dollars per game is go up to the plate 4-5 times. What a pansy.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) He shouldnt be saying anything. The guy recycled dances with wolves and pocahantas and suped it up with 3D for effect and made bank on it Nolan's inception was not exactly original either. But then again... everything stems from something.
