  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) Just in case al you guys don't know it already- I think Santos has a great chance of being pretty special Color me unimpressed. I don't think santos will stick around the majors for too long, and if he does, he will be in the back end. I realize this is a very unpopular opinion.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) We're 9 outs away from the first 10-game winning streak in two decades and you've for some reason brought up Wise? Three decades. 1976.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) So would you say he can go the distance? If he absolutely had to, aka everyone broke their arms in the morning due to falling out of their beds, then sure. Otherwise, there really would be no reason. 50 pitches seems like a given for today, with the high side being upwards of roughly 80, given the circumstances.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) Good work querty or Q-Berty. I fully take that as an insult, which it likely is intended to be. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) I would have never thought we would see a win streak this long. Sure some were crap teams but that's usually when the Sox lay down. Hopwfully they can put an end that when they play KC and CLE. This 9 game win streak started on june 15th against the pirates. Coming into that series the pirates lost 8 consecutive games. You better believe they have something to play for at that point. No one wants to lost 8 consecutive games, let alone 12, or potentially worse... even the worst team in the majors. Do you know how hard it is to prevent a team a win after 8 consecutive losses , 9, 10!? Then to prevent a team during that very same winning streak from extending their five game winning streak to 6, or potentially even greater? Unheard of. No to mention they extended a three game losing streak the nationals had to six... a team that was, and is to this day not terrible. We even faced strasburg, something this league may have never even comprehended up until this point. While the nationals are not even league average, they do indeed have talent, and promise. The first six wins were on the road. Winning six games in a row, on the road, against even the worst of teams in the league, is an accomplishment in itself. I don't see how this can be considered anything other than a spectacular run... barring everything they had to do to lead up to this point. Even if they end up 20 under by the time the season is over... the sox brought happiness to each and everyone of us... even if it was just for 7 to 10 days out of the entire season. It's something. Enjoy it.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) My question would be: what does a player's RBI total tell you at the end of the year? How many opportunities said player(s) had to drive in a run, whether it be a runner in scoring position, or on first... compared to league average. That's pretty much it. Sure on occasion players can hit great with men on and poorly with none on... but as a general whole the numbers even out pretty well. If you are a .220 hitter... but are one of the league leaders in rbi opportunities... you better believe that player has a great chance of being among a league leader in rbi's. It works both ways. You can hit .350, but if you don't have the opportunities, what does it matter?
  6. Winning streak of seven or greater since 1990. 2008 - 8 2006 - 9 2005 - 8 2003 - 8 2002 - 7 2000 - 8 1997 - 7 1996 - 8 1995 - 8 1994 - 7 1991 - 8 1990 - 8 1976 was the last time the sox had a 10 game winning streak.
  7. Cannot wait for greg to comment on the great job jenks displayed tonight.
  8. Amazing quarterbacks can carry a team (league average) much further than any other position in sports. The same goes for terrible quarterbacks making their team (league average) horrendous. The ball is in his hands at some point every single play of the game, for the good, or the bad. That is just about as direct as it gets. Aberrations aside of course.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Why is it laughable to say he's been one of the best closers for years? He hasn't been? QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Greg gets the last laugh no matter what. Serious or not. Which he is. I don't know why you guys let it get to you anymore. I mean it's the same thing day in day out. It's not changing anytime soon. Sometimes i truly believe i am the only one that understands this.

  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Seems like facing Strasburg has thrown off our hitters timing. Like they needed to face strasburg to be thrown off. They get thrown off facing far simpler opponents.

    QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) Now 114 reviews, still 100% positive. That's pretty amazing. None of the movies in the toy story franchise has received a single negative review from the masses of critics on rotten tomatoes.

    QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) This. Do you not like animation? Do you not like the toy story franchise? Do you like the toy story franchise and think the third movie in the series will be butchered? It can really only be one of those.
  14. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) HAHAHAHAH That's hilarious!!!! Adorable ...I hope there's no resemblance!!! :/ Wite wishes he looked that good.

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) I think I'm about 50/50. I like almost all of the movies I get from Netflix, but I hardly mention them in the thread because they're usually kind of old and I get through about four a week at times. And those three quotes are all true. I didn't laugh once at Caddyshack because it's so dated and unfunny now. I do hate all three of the main actors from Superbad because they're incredibly annoying, have no range whatsoever, and aren't funny. And I think 1 in 4 people who started watching The Spirit made it through the entire thing. Mention the older movies. You will have the interest of at least one person here.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) lol I hope thats Blackwood His face appears to be full of craters.
  17. I know the swear filter was instilled to try and help make the site a more professional place for when sox org looks around. First off, i'm willing to bet that a couple of them swear also, and some potentially even on a pretty consistent basis. Much bigger sites than this one here, in every way imaginable, regarding pretty much any topic you could think of, allow swearing. Why? Because swearing is apart of everyday life, and there is no way getting around that fact. Unless you have an I.Q. of 47 you can probably put two and two together that s*** = feces, etc, etc. Why try and hide it? No one is fooled... well except those of course in the I.Q. range i mentioned... and they have no good reason of being around electronics out of the fear of hurting themselves. It's just illogical and naive to myself. If people can handle the news, they can more than handle a bit of vulgarity. You guys should be receiving this in the mail any day now.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) I'd love for him to rip the s*** out of this pile of s*** White Sox team. How very lame. How about they light him up for 7 and make him look mortal? It would be much cooler outcome of the two scenarios.
  19. Boy has he made some terrific catches in right field!!!
