  1. Mods feel free to move this thread. Does anyone know where the sox typically stay when they play in Boston. Im trying to plan a trip to Fenway for labor day weekend when they are out there. It would be really cool to stay in their hotel and have the opportunity to hang and BS with some of the guys on the road. Thanks.
  2. Also about AJ, does anyone know how many GIDP he has this year. It would be nice to compare that to say what the average #2 hitter has.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 25, 2008 -> 01:33 AM) Put AJ at leadoff. Afterall, he did have a GREAT bunt down the 3rd base line Friday night.. But seriously. I want Swish hitting 2nd. Put him in a spot where he doesnt have to swing for the fences (3-6), dosen't feel like a jackass (7-9), and dosent have to sit and watch 4-5 pitches (leadoff). Try a lineup of... OCab Swish Q Dye Thome Konerko AJ Crede Ramirez Then it still pleases Ozzie with the handedness because its potentially R-L-R-R-L-R-L-R-R, which gives a decent variance. I agree get him in the 2 hole where he doesnt need to try and swing for fences/ get RBI. And isn't forced to take extra pitches to "see" the pitcher. I bet his BA and OBP starts to rise.
  4. Yeah I agree you gotta get him outta there. He is way way to of a free swinger and he doesn't handle the bat well at all. AJP loves to swing at the first pitch, hes not a count worker, get him out of the 2 hole ASAP.
  5. This team does some things well and others not. They have more talent than last years team, but on May 20th 2007, 1/4 through the season, they were 21-19. So lets not get too excited because we all know what can happen.
  6. He really needs to be sent down, and possibly for good. I dont know if hes a major league pitcher. Hes got OK stuff and hes a guy that relies on a deceptive hercky jerky motion, a motion meant to fool you to get you out. Well to make a long story short its not as easy to "fool" major league hitters as it is minor league, enough said. Bye Bye Ehren. Go get me someone who throws strikes, has good stuff, and has proven he can get out Major League hitters consistently.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 12, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) The ace of the staff is supposed to pick up his teammates there With what his 85 MPH fastball.
  8. 2008 White Sox Baseball...We Can't Pitch Over Any Mistake......EVER!!!!
  9. If the white sox have their way and are smart they wont resign the aging slugger who will struggle to hit .250 this year. Yeah he will still be a 30 HR threat but we can do better. I assume if hes not back they can platoon Konerko and Swish at 1B/DH until 2010 when his Paulies contract is up. That gives CF to a real CF'er, Anderson, Owens, any leadoff hitter or acquistion, etc. Still would be plenty of power, in Dye, AJ, Fields, Quentin, Konerko, Swish.
  10. I hope the sox make a couple changes tonite to the lineup. Since we are facing Washburn, a tough lefty, give Thome the night off. Keep BA in center b/c he can cover way more ground in the huge outfield and really give this team a boost defensively in a ballpark like safeco. Return Swish to the lineup as either the 1B/Dh and let Konerko be the opposite either 1B or DH. The point is keep BA in center for defense and hes right handed, get Thome out against lefties, and get Swish back in, but in in center.
  11. Konerko will be with this team until the end of his contract for sure, and will be the teams full time DH in 2010 for sure. In 2009 Konerko and Swisher will begin to share time at 1B, with Swisher playing OF and Konerko being DH the other half. IMO Thome's $13 Mil option will not be picked up for 2009 and he will become a free agent and ponder retirement vs. Frank Thomas like contracts (2 Yrs-18 Mil) from the A's, M's, and O's. Thome's bat speed and presence as a premiere slugger will continue to fade all year has he struggles to keep his Avg above .260 and his HR total above 30. Konerko and Swisher could be your 3/4 combo in the batting order in 2009 and 2010.
  12. Ozzie please let Javy pitch the 8th. Hes only got 89 pitchers. I dont think I can stand the bullpen coming in walking 2 guys in the 8th here, keep Javy in.
  13. Alright at least Javy isn't on the hook for a loss now. Sweet.
  14. The sox have had 9 baserunners through 5 innings, the O's 4 through 6 innnings. To say were not winning the game is one thing, but say we being shutout is ridiculous. Two times Alexi came up with two on, and 1 time AJ came up with bases loaded. I cant think of a worse combo against and erratic pitcher than those two. Those are the two biggest free swinger, non pitch taking, non-count working hitters on our team.
  15. When do we start the runners left on base count, were up to 8 through five innings. Nice were on pace for another 14 stranded runners game. Someone want to tell the sox it would be nice to get runners on base before there are already 2 outs. This is sick.
  16. http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/probab...rs.jsp?c_id=min Why is Masset scheduled to start on Wednesday? Has anyone else heard this information from a sox related source?
  17. I was just wondering if anyone out there has heard anything about Dye's status. The last thing I heard was that he would be re-evaluated at the ballpark the day after the injury, which occurred last Thursday. Just seeing if anyone out there picked up any info on his hamstring condition perhaps from Radio or TV. Usually with Dye and Thome these day to day injuries (back, calf, quad, etc) tend to string out to something about a week long.
  18. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/hrdetail.php?id=2008_315 The ball was projected to travel 422 FT with a speed of bat of 111.4 MPH and an angle of 34.2. The ball apexed 102 Ft about the ground. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/index.php?...S&p=&b=
  19. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) The homer was estimated at 418 feet, but White Sox players thought it would have gone much farther had it missed the catwalk. Thome said it was one of his longest homers. I agree that it probably went a little further than that. Maybe not 500 ft. since it was hit pretty high, but maybe 430 or 440. www.hittrackeronline.com is the site for all your home distance needs. Go explore it. It usually takes a day or two to get the homers up with their data, they have Konerko's up from yeterday, but not Thome 's yet. My guess its thats something close to the 440-450 shot he hit at US Cellular against the indians really early in the year that made right near the concourse.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Possible explination for the $30m income. Doesn't JR always say the Sox put profits back into the team? What would have Hunter and Cabrera cost the Sox this year? That might be the reason for the 30m, instead of a panic trade/signing of an overpriced vet, they banked it. Could come in handy at the trade deadline Putting $ back into the team doesn't always mean payroll and players. It could mean the new financing for the glendale, Az spring facility, it could be new ballpark features like the new statues and brick plaza, it could be` adding LCD tv's throughout the concourses, it could be upgrading the teams locker room or workout center. You never know.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) The White Sox seem to have been doing quite well with their revenue streams in recent years. My question, however, is assuming their payrolls were similar last season, how on earth did the White Sox bring in more revenues than the Cubs? They didn't bring in more revenue they brought in more net revenue. If the sox made 30 Mil last year that means revenue-expenses. So if in 2007 sox payroll was $100 Mil plus another $50 mil in employee expenses, insurances, stadium lease, maintanence, etc. That means to make 30 mil in profit they had to take in $180 mil in revenue. IF the cubs had a lower profit its probably becuase both their expenses and total revenue were higher. Thats why its easy to see the Marlins made a ton of profit last year they probably only spent $50 inlcuding their $20 Mil payroll + other expenses and made a ton from TV/Radio, Profit Sharing, Ticket Sales etc, so no wonder their profit was high, they have no expenditures.
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) So, I was watching some ESPN baseball highlights tonight and I was trying to remember how many homeruns the White Sox pitches have given up, and I really couldn't think of a single one. So I hopped online to check, and it turns out the White Sox have only given up 4 homeruns so far this year, 3 less than Braves who are in 2nd, and 19 less than the Reds who are last in the league. Most teams are between 11 and 14, with the average being 12.7. What do you guys attribute this too, considering we've played half our games at home which is a good hitters park? Bad weather? Good pitching? Mix of both? But I was shocked when I found that out. As a side note, Vazquez is 2nd in the league in K's, keep it up! As Lou Pinella said last year, "Well It's Been Cold"!!
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) Blue-Ray won out vs HD-DVD, so quality won there. I also don't have a choice for cable providers where I live. Comcast has a monopoly, so I'm stuck with them and their severely overpriced services. RCN and WoW are moving into other areas around Chicago right now, though. I think Blue Ray won b/c its perceived as a more accessible technology, given that its on every PS3 and associated with every sony products. I just so happened it contained better quality.
  24. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) I would figure that eventually they will encode the signal in MPEG4 and use a much better codec. The current Comcast software and hardware DVR platform is going away because of the quality issues you speak of. They are going to get away from running the windows runtime evironment under the Motorolla platform, and run a Tivo probably over Linux on the Panasonic platform. They have had numerous problems with the Motorolla chipset, and their video codec. Hopefully this gets fixed with some better set top hardware and software. I agree those motorola boxes really suck. Have you noticed how bad the lag is from when you make a command with your remote to when the box actually performs the function. Its sick, the damn thing lags so much. Also the DVR interface is awful. cant tell you how many times I have told something to record only new programs and it records all, even multiple repeats of the same episode. Its awful.
