  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) another good slider from floyd....in addition to wearing 34, his stuff this year has really reminded me of freddy....good movement on the two seamer, nice biting slider at 85, good curve when he can locate it in the mid 70s....his changeup isnt quite what freddys was, at least not as consistently, but he has thrown a few plus changeups this year Just not that one to Morneau. Ick.
  2. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) are 20-something Iowans more likely to move to Chicago or Minneapolis? Des Moines
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) College students skip classes all the time. fixed
  4. There is noooooooo way that the Rollerdome is worse than The Trop.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) Actually, I think everyone here realizes that. It's a person's right to disagree with why, and it's a person's right to get involved. I don't feel that strongly about it because I feel I can do it and get away with it. If I get caught, it's only my fault. I also feel that in certain circumstances - most circumstances - the drinking age being 18 would be a hindrance to society. Most "adults" at 18-20 are still teenagers at heart and like to break s***, be rebellious, and be uncivilized - not being ready for adulthood has that effect. I also think drinking underage and going crazy as an 18-20 year old is, in a way, better because if you do get caught, you will be punished and you'll understand the consequences of acting like a dumbass (public intoxication is illegal too, but it's not nearly as severe as getting a MIP or an underage). Furthermore, letting the drinking age be 18 opens up the possibility of getting 14-15 year olds into the habit too because kids at that age do talk to 18 year olds, just as I talk to 23 year olds. So, I'll take my chances, understand my rights, privileges, and laws, and continue drinking underage. Is it really that big of a deal? Part of the problem is...21 is an arbitrary number. there are some 18 year olds who can hold their liquor or just don't want to drink. And then there are 58 year olds that are alcoholics. Unfortunately, there had to be a number and 21 was considered to be that number. soo, if you want to drink...go ahead, but be prepared for the consequences...whatever age you are.
  6. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Look at the list of starting pitchers KW has traded away: Sirotka, Garcia, McCarthy, Loaiza, Wells, Fogg. If Garland rebounds to form, he'll be the first one to come back and bite Kenny. If I'm a GM, I'd think twice about taking a starting pitcher from KW. Coop'll hex 'em! I think the only pitcher that is even nipping at Kenny is Jon Rauch, but that is so far removed now, it probably doesn't even register.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) Nice, Pamela Wells was hotter than Boof though, I think Teen Wolf made the wrong choice OHHHHH...TOOOOOOOOTALLY agree. But, the name, Boof, just made her easy. And what would a teen want more than a girlfriend that was easy? Especially a teen WOLF!
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) I wish I had really thought about my list. I think I only submitted about 8 or 9 movies, and did not rank them. I would have added Back to School. I think it was Dangerfield's best. That would be an interesting list, comedian and their best work Belushi - Blues Brothers Chase - Vacation Martin - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Murray - What About Bob Williams - RV Pryor - Stir Crazy WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! That Texas heat's gittin' to yer hed boy. Chase - Fletch Martin - Parenthood Murray - Rushmore Williams - The Fisher King
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) good luck with what? I get pleasure watching fans of the Bears overrate their team every season. That's how I feel about the "U."
  10. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) We could just put him in Toby Hall's uni? I wouldn't do that...Ozzie might put him at first by mistake.
  11. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) Was the the fathers wife the mother of the imprisoned daughter? The way I have been reading the story seems like she isnt. I don't think so...and aren't there only 3 surviving kids?
  12. rafa...I'm sorry if I offended you, but there were a lot of weight jokes going around and that's what I was referring to. That's why I put "/green." To signify it was a joke. I apologize if you are offended or insulted, but I have to say, I won't hesitate to make that kind of a joke again.
  13. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) :lolhitting unfortunately, considering the rest of his family is in jail or in hiding.. we're lucky to have the remaining member here at soxtalk. Chris...they aren't hiding...he ate them. /green (sorta)
  14. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) C'mon now...some animals eat their own young... I hope you meant that to be green, cuz I've never heard of an animal other than human keep their own daughter captive for 20+ years, rape her, and have children with them, whom, I might add, were also kept under lock and key and had never seen the light of day. I think any one of those kids would've rather been eaten than the hell they were put through.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Not at all. At least I'm realistic. For someone to say Uribe makes Ozzie look like ARod offensively is beyond blind. If one really believes that, it shows they would either never give Uribe a fair shake or have no idea about baseball. BTW, the Cuban missle is a huge improvement. He's an on-base machine. I love you and all, DA...but Juan has been given his fair shake. It's over. He's is nothing more than a late inning replacement/Sunday lineup player for the Sox.
  16. When Ozzie played, he at least appeared to look like he knew what he was doing. He certainly didn't have corkscrew swings at the same clip that Uribe does. Uribe thinks he's Carlos Lee, but he's more like Pinky Lee at the plate. I bet he would be a .270 hitter if he wasn't swinging for Milwaukee every time up. he's strong enough that if he just puts the bat on the ball, he could get a good hard single. Instead, he's trying to hit a roof shot at old Comiskey...20 years ago.
  17. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) Dang, I won't be able to watch the game with a delay. I have places to go this afternoon and evening. Go Sox! It's called a radio...get one.
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) Absolutely. And don't let him catch those bastard deaf people trying to recite the pledge in ASL or there will be trouble. What?
  19. QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) It's not like my kids have not heard those words before, but when kids are sitting right in front of you, you could tone it down some. The Sox are always promoting that they're a Family friendly ball park and I'm sure if I wanted to be an Arse about it I could have had an usher sit by us. It is family friendly...for 20-something brothers!
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Yes it is illegal to drink underage but come on, who here actually waited until they were 21 (or 18) to start drinking? I think this complaint is equivalent to those that would complain that they got pulled over for doing 67 in a 65. If you would complain about the latter, don't complain about the people complaining about the former. I didn't drink until college (except for the little nips of beer or wine or champagne I would get at functions) and I'm glad I did...BUT, I certainly didn't judge others for drinking in high school. Unless they did something stupid. If someone wants to go to a friends house, drink a little too much, take a cab home and sleep it off. Fine. Or go to a game, keep buy a scorecard and only keep score of what half inning you finished your beer, stumble to the "L," and get home in one piece. Fine. It's called responsibility, and no matter what you are doing in life, you have some. Leave judging to the judges.
  21. QUOTE (mreye @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) They don't have to allow tailgaiting, do they? It's a priveledge. Treat it that way. /thread
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Cut his peter off and toss him in jail. That's not enough. I think they should give each and every family member a bat and they just go to town. I'm not one for the death penalty, nor do I want to start a debate about it, but if there was EVER an argument for it...this is it. I am shocked, appalled and utterly disgusted that a person like this even exists. Even better, strip this guy naked and set him loose in the desert and let him rot.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) You'd shuck your cob til you made nibblets? Mmmm...niblets.
