April Fools Day Thread: Joe Crede and Nick Masset dealt to SF

QUOTE(Want2Repeat @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) On his show, Jim Rome said today, people who try to pass off April Fools jokes are essentially lame. He specifically gave the scenario of somebody saying, hey, did you hear the Red Sox traded Josh Beckett to the Yankees? This thread fits right into his rant. This from a man that stooped so low to call Jim Everett, Chris Evert. Yeah, I'll take him seriously...... -
Good hire...sucks for Marquette, though.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) As I said yesterday: TV + MUTE + Radio Play-By-Play = AWESOME! Brings me back to the days of Wayne Larrivee and Hub Arkush on Bears radio. One of the biggest mistakes ever made was letting Larrivee go to the Pack. /hijack

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Lol, I might have been fooled if the same thing didnt happen the past 2 years. Oooo...look who's so smart...ooo hoo hoo... Won't you be surprised when it actually comes true!!! -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) The 2nd most is a few scenes before that when Jake goes to Dorn's house. "If you ever, EVER, tank another play like that one you did today, I'm gonna cut your nuts off and stuff 'em down your f***in throat." C'mon people...if you ever played catch this one has got to make you tear up just a little... "Hey Dad...how 'bout a catch?" Gets me every time.

QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) I actually don't use a computer for an internet connection, I actually just sit down with a sharpened Ethernet cable and stick it into my vein. When I'm done, I take it out and swab it with alcohol. Y'know, you should swab it with alcohol BEFORE you stick it into your vein...lest you get a virus. Alright, I'll boo myself...BOOOOOO!!!

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) Masset and Boone looked great. Offensive was pretty good, except the bases loaded no outs = no runs inning. The umpires sucked. Need to get a win in tomorrow, obtain early season momentum this year. We need Robert Fick to play for the Indians...a good bench clearing brawl is what this team needs. -

QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) Dotel doesn't deserve any blame Its Buehrle who is the reason we lost, not the umpires and not Dotel.. our "Ace" sucked, plain and simple 1.2 IP 7 ER from our #1 that is why we lost That may be true...yet, it won't happen very often...he is our #1. I didn't see the game, but I'm very impressed with the fight the team showed to battle back to 7-7 and have a chance of tying in the 9th. I think this year is going to be fun...whether they win the division or not. -

QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) Wake Forest stud recruit Aminu has got himself in a bit of trouble by shooting some lady with a b.b. gun or something. I have not seen the entire story yet, but not good. He had the rep. of being a pretty solid kid so this is a bit surpriseing. Maybe she looks like a tin can? -

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) There's a pretty good high school all star game at Niles North High School next week. You can see the rosters and everything at http://www.chicagohighschoolclassic.com I really wanna see Lewis Jackson from Decatur Eisenhower, who is going to Purdue. Dillard will be there, Simpson, etc... Verdell Jones is still unsigned? What happened to Kansas? Or Minnesota? Weren't they recruiting him? -

Well, now that the Red Sox and White Sox have won the World Series...there's no one with more futility other than the Cubs. Soooooo...that's why ESPN is talking about them. They aren't winning the World Series this year. Not with Lilly, Marquis and Dempster in the rotation.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Just an update... they were so impressed they called me hours later and notified me that they'd be extending an offer. THIS ROCKS. I hate you...NOW GO GET ME A JOB!!! Congrats!!!

QUOTE(almagest @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) I think that's a better sign than any that this is probably a lost cause. If its a struggle being friends, it's going to be an even bigger struggle trying to date her. Save yourself lots of trouble and move on. Oooooorrrrrrr...go watch When Harry Met Sally and KEEP THOSE HOPES UP!!!

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Not so much bad in terms of results but bad as in what it said and meant. We were only 3.5 games out with ~60 games left. I was 14 so i had just begun following the sox really closely for a few years at that point but it made no sense to me to do that. Nowadays, if a team did that only 3.5 games out, they would be ripped by media constantly. Yes, in hindsight you could argue we "won" that trade, but for what it meant at the time that trade was made will always leave a sour taste in my mouth. That's what makes discussions like this moot. There are many parts to a trade: When it's made. (Spring Training vs. Deadline, for instance) Under what circumstances. (White Flag Trade) Did we use the players we received to get other, better (or worse) players. (Bonilla -> DeLeon -> One Dog) Did the team we sent players to use them to get other better (or worse) players. (I think the Mets spun off Royce Ring for someone good) Did it free up money which was used to sign other players. (Carlos Lee) Did it tie up money which made the team not be able to sign other players. Injuries. Did the young players end up better in the long run (Larry Anderson for Jeff Bagwell). I think, all in all, Kenny has done a pretty good job. But you still have to catch lightning in a bottle occasionally.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) Upper level Indiana HS basketball is as good as anywhere else in the country. Basketball is religion in most of the state. In all the towns, it is all they have. Fixed. -
QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) My pick for most wins is MB. My pick for first to be injured is Octavio Dotel. And the Jenks thing is interesting. Saw it on ESPN yesterday, and thought it was complete BS. I guess his 40 saves and 2.77 ERA wasn't good enough for him to be in the top 5. Post your picks and explanations here. Coming from you, jenks45monster...I'm not surprised you think he should be in the top 5!!! I think it's going to be Javy...I think he's going to be a fringe Cy Young candidate. As for injuries, I think there's going to be a freak injury. Like Uribe will be at a buffet and he mistakenly eats his own arm or something like that.
