Check any of the Chicago papers. Briggs gets 6/$36 mil. I bet Urlacher redoes his contract now. This is a good keep, though.

Blackhawks, United Center Question
CanOfCorn replied to Jim Spencer's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) What did you think of the AAC? Meh. I wasn't that impressed. And Stars fans are kinda jerks. The fans that were there, that is. But, the 'hawks got absolutely smoked at the game, so they were pretty loud, and they shoulda been. I like the area around the AAC, though. -
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) I have a blue shamrock tattooed on my arm. I got it probably 5 years ago. Im pretty sure I will get another one or two down the road but it would have to be something I really liked. Irish Jew?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) Wouldn't this cause a huge scheduling problem? In order to have a nice homestand, the other team would have to have an extra long road trip. Unless the Cubs wanted to keep their day game tradition. Then you could do day-night Cubs-Sox doubleheaders. Plus, Cubs fans probably are too scared to be on the South Side after dark. They definitely couldn't do that for a long homestand, but they could probably do it for 3 games at a time.

I don't see a problem with it. But I would love to see drunk Cub fans stumble out of Comiskey looking for Murphy's Bleachers.

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) At least at the United Center I shouldn't have to sit behind a beam I did that twice at the Stadium. I'll warm them up for you. I'm going to the game in Dallas tomorrow! -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Were you the guy they found floating face down in Ricki Lake? I wish I was a part of the Soxtalk Biggest Loser club because I just puked up about 4 pounds.

Hey, if you are the only airline that is actually MAKING money, you can pretty much do whatever you want! But, considering the sad state of affairs the airline industry is, if they really didn't do anything, then that's just not a smart move.

Intangibles can push a good team over the top. The 2007 Sox were not a good team. They may have won a few more games last year, but they wouldn't have gotten to the playoffs. Now, if they get a good start this year, playing with a chip on their shoulder might, just MIGHT get them to the playoffs as a wild card. But, either way, it's going to be tough. If anything, the Sox will be more fun to watch this year.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) A guy I work with sounds like that pile of clay on that show. Always mumbling. No one knows what he's saying. You mean Blob? Roooowr rawr rawr!

I actually saw...at the Old Orchard theatre...Howard the Duck. The first showing. Yeah, that was dumb. Great Space Coaster, Beyond the Magic Door, Gigglesnort Hotel and of course, Scooby Doo.

And what I was saying isn't that you should cheat on your girlfriend, or drink when you don't want to, but you are 19 and not everything happens the way you want it to happen. 10 years from now, you may look back on this time and laugh at how different things are. Hey, if it works out the way you want to, great. Just don't be too harsh on yourself or anyone else.

QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) I have self control. I am not saying alcoholics and social drinking is the same thing either. Underaged drinking is bad. It is against the law. I think it is a bit corrupt that my RA and people on campus overlook the alcohol use by people under 21. I think drinking tickets are justified by police because it is against the law. I'm not putting myself above others, either. Please, do not think I label people generic because they drink. I am just sick of seeing the same old people around because they are so generic. I also am not saying we're a unique group of intellectuals, but generally, on my campus I feel I can only have a non-generic conversation with only select individuals because so many others have to have alcohol to have a good time here. It's people that game I feel like I can relate most with, and I'm not saying the others aren't all generic, but what I am saying is that for the most part on my campus, I see the same kind of generic individuals with little to nothing intellectual to talk about. Smoking Marijuana is still against the law. I wish some people would take laws into consideration and follow them---again, people on my campus smoke marijuana just like they drink---every single weekend. Underage drinking is against the law in the United States, where many people believe we are still Puritans. A glass of wine a day is good for your heart. A glass of beer a day is good for your blood. I enjoy having a few drinks with friends and have been out with people who don't drink. According to my alcohol and society class I took in college, we were all alcoholics...we were binge drinkers. If I believed that, I'd probably be lying in a gutter somewhere. Not to mention you are still a young man. It's nice you think so highly of your girlfriend, but for the love of all that's holy, you are in college. You have a lot of life to live. Enjoy it.

Halfway thru...Clinton is winning, but at the same time, she seems more desperate, which, of course, she is.

Bears Cut Moose/Re-sign A. Brown

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) thats a bad plan unless its drafting Joe Flacco .. no one else .. the only QB i will accept is Flacco(projected 2nd round--could fall to 3 but not likely) I'd like to see the Bears trade down, get a couple more picks and get Flacco in the early second round. I used to like Woodson, but I think he's going to be Leftwich in the pros...good, but won't lead the Bears anywhere. -
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) Larry Hughes = Bye Bye Ben Gordon? Not yet, I think it's a good play by Pax. Take what we offer or buh-bye, we have your replacement for 2 more years. He's going to be 20 next year, and the best part is...HE'S a TALL GUARD!!! Finally. the more I think about this trade the more I like it.

QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) looks like mark's advice seems to be influencing him (i'm sure that's who gave him the idea to use a cutter, or coop mentioned it because of how effective buerhle's is) Or both.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Skadden? Levon/Kirkland? I would rather not say to protect his identity. But it's in the top 5 US firms.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) We got what could be 4 nice contributors for us. I'd love to hold onto Gooden for the future, good rebounder and a post guy who at least has a low game. Hes gotta bring back the soul patch though lol. Brown has played well in limited time for Cavs and is a Chicago product so good upside if he plays. Simmons, don't know much about him but hes only 21-22 so that gives him lots of time to improve if he sticks around. Hughes, we have plenty of guards wouldn't be surprised if he or someone else is traded but I think the deadline passed already. There could always be a buy-out for Larry Hughes, too. The Bulls are a very small team except for Aaron Gray and Noah.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/80...-carl21.article Those are the comments Weber said today. The comments that you are quoting is what he said in regards to why Carlwell decided to transfer. Weber had been trying to get him to red-shirt this year but Carlwell did not want to. At least thats what they were saying during the Wisconsin/Illinois game. Here is the comment you referred to: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=139182 The key part is on MONDAY. Which was before he decided to transfer. The truth sometimes hurts. If he would have knocked his head on the floor and suffered a sever concussion, that wouldn't affect his weight or his effort. Why do you guys think he wouldn't red shirt? He could heal his knee and start fresh next year. -

I had a friend in college from Effingham (one of the best names for a town...evar!). He would be drunk almost every night on this stuff called "benzene" which was absolutely awful. BUT, he did all his homework first and got straight A's. In fact, he ended up at Harvard Law and is now a top tax attorney at one of the biggest law firms in Chicago. I certainly don't condone that behavior, but it worked for him. So...who am I to judge?
