QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) I wish she would have been technically correct and referred to her uterus as the focus of the legislation being considered and not vagina. Anti-abortion laws are aimed at controlling what goes on in the uterus, not the vagina. You know what they say, "The quickest way to a woman's uterus is through her vagina."

The following statement is absolutely the current problem in the United States today. Not in specific terms, but generally. This country, Dems and GOP (but it seems a slight majority of GOP) are so worried about RIGHT NOW. How does it affect my current situation? And while that is important, we have to look forward. Of course, there is no way to know what will happen in the future, but trying something for the future seems to be better than constant band-aid, short term solutions that only cause problems in a shorter time span. Now as this relates to this discussion. Has anyone found anything about relative cost comparisons between giving 11+ million immigrants amnesty and finding those same and deporting them? I would imagine that would be another interesting argument. Maybe they won't pay a lot of taxes, but some coverage is better than none. And how much money would it take to track down 11+ million illegals and ship them home? Can't be cheap.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) Except he last had the speed to justify some of that overaggressiveness about 4-5 years ago when he was closer to his prime. If he wants to be considered another leadoff guy, he should at least post an OBP of 300+. He's no Michael Bourn, but he still has above average speed. And I totally get it...if he were hitting even .250 with a .330-.350 OBP, I'd be thrilled. But he is adjusting to a new league and a new position. And he was only supposed to be a stopgap. If you can get Chase Headley cheap. And by cheap, I mean, REALLY cheap, that's who I'd want.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:17 AM) If Orlando Hudson can't make the toughest plays, that's still ok. He might make one every now and again by luck, and finding a really great defensive 3b who can make the toughest plays reliably won't be cheap. What I like about Hudson is the fact that he's kind of a second lead off guy. Speed, bunting prowess, singles hitter with some pop. Of course, I'd like to see more of that....... His defense has been pretty good for a lifetime middle infielder. Considering the fact that Morel was expected to be back by now or very soon, Hudson wasn't supposed to be there that long. But, he's made some excellent reaction plays, it's the other easier plays he's had a rougher time.

I don't understand...what war? I'm married to a lovely woman. If two men or two women get married...how does that affect me? Am I in danger? I don't think so. Someone should ask the tied and gagged kids in Nebraska about "ideal environment." This argument is such a waste of time.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) It really doesnt matter. Penn State has money and makes money. It has thousands of students paying money every semester, its not very difficult to freeze a PSU bank account and get a turnover order. Why even worry about the state, it just would result in unnecessary litigation. Just curious if the victims sued PSU, they were also suing the state. Or if PSU and the State University system in Penn was a separate entity.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Here's the honorary board of directors list as it stood at the time this broke, some of the people immediately contacted and tried to have their names removed.. I'm sure this appeared somewhere in this thread before, but hey, why not. Wow. Also...since this is a state university, can the state be held responsible? Meaning, could the victims sue the state of Penn.?

Testimony about Roy Gricar again...that is just such an odd part of the case. Car abandoned, never found him. Laptop found in the river 3 months later, without hard drive. Allegedly looked on another computer about how to destroy hard drive. Sounds fishy... I really just want this case to be over. It's just so painful.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) Even though this one had a ton of money in it...I'm not quite sure the results would have been any different had there been an even spending field. It matches up so closely with the results from 18 months ago. Let me put it another way...maybe money doesn't truly "win" elections since the amount of money that will be raised/spent will probably be nearly equal for November. Meaning, when the money gets to the billion mark, what's a couple million here or there. So...instead of money winning elections...people and corporations (or as Mitt Romney likes to call them, "people") THINK money wins elections. Hey everyone...let's spend a billion dollars on something else...how about education? How about the charity of your choice? How about your church? How about, well, anything? Money in elections remind me of renting an apartment. That's cash down the drain every month without anything to show for it...unless it turns south in which case you can blame the landlord.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 05:27 PM) you guys sure supported big money campaigns when Obama was racking in massive bribe money from wall street. he even went back on his promise about public financing. oh well, he's Democrat brand, so you blindly support him. you guys lost in the recall elecation. deal with it. your democrats are totally bribed and corrupt just like most of the GOP. so stop with the sob story about money in campaigns. The entire system is broken...and don't start with the blind support. If you think that some GOPers don't blindly support candidates...well then, you are...blind. This just shows that money wins elections...not issues. So again I say, the system in broken.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) Dunn needs to start hitting the ball again. I'm sure he'll go on a tear, hit six homeruns in a game, and then cool off again. I'd like to see him wakeup starting tonight. Fixed. -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I keep seeing that $# thrown around and it's just plain bulls***. It's now an Obama White House/DNC talking point that's just wrong. The fact that the Romney campaign is giving the Obama campaign the business about fundraising in Hollywood is just f'in ridiculous. The amount of money spent on both of these campaigns should be enough for the American people to say, "Enough is enough."

More frustrating...$64 million dollars pumped into a recall election that could have gone to...well anything else but that.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) He's just playing in the wrong ERA of great First Basemen to get in... Classic Hall of Really Good candidate... Agreed...but it's not how you start, it's how you finish. If Paulie can get to 500 (as it says in the article) and can hit 1600 RBIs, he's definitely in the conversation. ESPECIALLY because there have been no rumors about PEDs. He's assumed to be clean.

QUOTE (Spod=Ratings @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) Only Paulie could be underrated on an underrated list. QOTY

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) When Phil Humber threw the perfect game, never once did Hawk cross my mind. Hawk to Sox baseball now is the same as what Ozzie was to Sox baseball the last two seasons. There were some great times, his legacy will never be forgotten, but it's definitely time for a change. Really? There is no comparison between a broadcaster and a manager. I will say this again... Familiarity breeds contempt.

Hawk has life. He enjoys the game of baseball. THAT'S why he was so fired up at Wegner. Not because it was the Sox. Sure, if the whole situation was reversed and Cobb got the boot, Hawk wouldn't have been pissed, but I have a feeling he still would have been upset. These other guys calling games for other teams, many have never played before...that's what I like about Hawk, he calls the game like a player, not like a guy who went to school for it (sorry SoxFan1). Brenly is ok, but Len is boring as s***. I do like the three person booth idea, if only because it harkens back to the Hamilton/Lloyd/Boudreau days with the Cubs. Those were good 'casts...those were the days when my dad would have ANY game on in the car.

QUOTE (11and1 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) As I said earlier in this thread, he can drive me nuts at times but I desperately miss him when he's not on. And I couldn't care less what the national media think or say about him. Being a lifelong Sox fan in Cub-Crazy Chicago gave me immunity. There it is...perfect description.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Hawk's rant after Q's ejection is reason #3,258 why the guy needs to go. What an embarassment. It's one thing to show passion, but that was just a joke. (Cue the "He's such a true Sox fan" arguments) While I agree that was a little much...I think it came more from a baseball man than a White Sox fan. In this case, this was frustration over umpiring, not what it did to the Sox...although that was definitely a part of it. Hawk has been coming down harder and harder on umps the last couple of years, ever since that strike zone issue a couple of years ago, not to mention the Joe West feud. Anyway...that was more of a "action that stains the game" over "how could they do that to MY White Sox." IMHO

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) Can we really send down Quintana (over Stewart/Santiago) when right hand batters are batting 1/24 (0.042) on the season on him? Please rest more...Mr. Danks. 6 MAN ROTATION!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) The Sox thrive on this stuff apparently. Where's Robert Fick when you need him?

QUOTE (sunofgold @ May 27, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) DAng, MANto can fix 'em! Really same hitters as last year. Overall so much better. He can eventruth a .300 hitter into .400 hitter. Bravo, bravo! I hate you for starting this thread... /green???
