  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Hudson turned into jackson who turned into stewart who turned into Youkilis, Sox won as of right now Sooo...we should be thanking the D-backs org.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) So do people with the strong Chicago-pizza beliefs go to a place like Piece on North Avenue and pretend it's bad? Nope, I go to a place like Lou Malnati's and KNOW it's good. PS...
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Have any of the papers or national websites written anything in depth on Rios? Like what his teammates and coaches think of him and why he's turned it around? It'd be interesting to hear some behind the scenes stuff on the guy even if it was from anonymous sources. Why is he finally having a good season? It'd be easy to just blame Ozzie/Walker. I want some information. Well...get used to disappointment because the papers and national websites usually don't do much with the Chicago White Sox.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Well, that's false I'll take my sheet of sausage over your sheet of grease any day...
  5. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Executive director of the DNC tweets: "It's Constitutional. b****es." And saw on Drudge someone from DNC also tweeted "TAKE THAT MOTHER******S!" Way to be classy, Dems, as always. Can't we just leave it at that? Does EVERYTHING have to be GOP vs Dems?
  6. Don Grady, Robbie Douglas of My Three Sons and a Mouseketeer, 68: Do-do-do-dooooo...
  7. Not sure if anyone is watching the Tiggers-Rangers game, but lemme tell you, this Tiger infield is BAD. The Tigers get within two runs at 11-9 going to the bottom of the 8th. Raburn muffs a Kinsler pop-up, which turns into a double. Andrus bunts down the 3B line, Cabrera barehands it, pulls Raburn off the base and Kinsler scores. Hamilton K's. Beltre doubles, Andrus scores. Young reaches on a Raburn error. Cruz K's and Murphy pops-out. 13-9. Lemme tell you. That defense is going to keep those Tigs down... AND I LOVE IT!
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) You really think there would be big interest? Traditionally the Sox have been on shaky ground, almost moving that one year. As nice as the Cell is ... would any of you be against starting over? New owner? New stadium in the most picturesque part of the city where there could be bars, restaurants, etc., not a slum to the east and southeast and nice, but blah Bridgeport to the west? Shaky ground? Sure, they threatened to move...but that was a loooooong time ago. They aren't going anywhere...that horse has sailed. And yes, no matter what, they are still in the third largest market in the country and there are enough 1%ers that think owning a team is tantamount to wealth. Moving the stadium...again, that horse has sailed. They had their chance with the McPier group and it didn't work. Where else would it go? Suburbs? The better option is to try to make that area better...and it's happening slowly with the Cork and Kerry and the new bar on premise taht I can't remember the name of now.
  9. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) Why is it so difficult for these guys to understand that if pain is causing them to underperform, they are doing the team no favor by trying to "play through it". If you're hurt, you're hurt. Sit down and let someone healthier give it a shot for a few days. I have a feeling if he doesn't play through it, surgery is the only option and then he's out for the year.
  10. Here's the thing...I don't think Jerry Sandusky has any inkling that what he did was wrong. I think he believes it is "love." THAT is the sickness of it. But here's the other thing...if he goes to the general population, he is dead. There is even a hierarchy in prison and child molesters are at the bottom. Enjoy the rest of your life in prison, you sick bastard.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) I don't like our matchup tonight...if we can pull it out, I think it we have a good chance to sweep....but I fully expect to lose tonight. That's what she said...
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) Kaner for Luongo. Problems solved. A drunk for some junk.
  13. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) Yes a sweep would be awfully nice with the Tribe going up against the Yanks the next 4 games, but I can live with 2 out of 3 considering the way we play against the Twins. Is it confirmed that Youk will be playing? Ozzie is gone...the piranhas are dead.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) I was thinking about where Youk would bat as well and I think it has to be 7 or 8. Beckham has really started hitting the ball well and I don't think you move him from the 2 spot where he seems comfortable and productive. I'd also rather not drop Viciedo below 7 so Youkilis really should be batting 8 in front of Alexei File under: Good problem to have.
  15. I think Portzline also said he hadn't waived his no-trade for Toronto OR Chicago. Just Florida.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) Watched the game. Liked it a lot. I thought it was great to see Quintana's father in the stands cheering him. Columbia must be proud. We got a real good arm in the Q Colombia, too!
  17. Even with all the talk of YOOOOOUUUUUUK coming to the South Side, one should be reminded of 2 pretty damn good plays and 1 fantastic play by O-Dawg yesterday. Of course, he spit the bit in the bottom of the ninth, but he had three nice stops in the field. So here's to you, O-Dawg, I hope you can live with your IF UTIL role starting today. As an aside...Dunn is playing a pretty good 1B when he's in there.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) I don't see any way to interpret this as a bad trade. Yes, LilliBomb endeared himself to us last year, but even if you think he's a plus utility guy, then you just gave up a plus utility guy. This is a major upside play. And Stewart is horrible. Funny side note: I clicked on the MLBTradeRumors link on Twitter last night and loked at some of the comments. There was one BoSox fan that said something along the lines of: "Ha! White Sox give up a top pitching prospect and more just to take on the corpse of Youkilis!" Someone is misinformed on Stewart, lol. They will find out soon enough.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:03 AM) So is he gonna live in Skokie? What is this...the 70's? Oy...if he wants to live with Members of the Tribe, he would move to Highland Park, Buffalo Grove, maybe even Deerfield...BUT NOT KENILWORTH!
  20. The organization doesn't care who comes to the games, guys...as long as enough come to fill the stands. It isn't about the single guy or the married guy. It isn't about Sox fans. It's about butts and it's about seats. But they can't talk to the entire country, they talk to the beat writers who ask them questions. There are probably Sox fans that live far away and can't get to games that are bigger Sox fans than some of the season ticket holders who use them for clients or to generate business. But at the end of the day...the White Sox don't care as long as those tickets have been bought. In fact, my guess is, they could really care less if anyone ACTUALLY shows up as long as those seats have been paid for...(of course that's an exaggeration).
  21. From what I've been reading...Bruney's fastball is up to 95mph and he's been a pretty good starter (albeit in AAA). If he earned another trip, why not give him a chance?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) Chris De Luca ‏@ChrisDeLuca #Blackhawks actively shopping defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson : According to ESPN Insider...Montador also may be on the block.
  23. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Good Lord. I just read that he was prepared to testify. I can't fathom why he wasn't called. From the Today Show report this morning...when the case started, he was sitting behind Sandusky, supporting him. But one of the witnesses, I think it may have been Victim 4 (but don't quote me), testified that Matt Sandusky, the adopted son, was there and also being abused. After that session, Matt S. went to the prosecutors with his story, saying he may be able to help them. Of course, if the prosecution called him, I think the cross could have been devastating to the case. Well, maybe not devastating, but it sure would hurt. Why would you come to us NOW after you already testified in the Grand Jury that you weren't abused? etc, etc. Here's the blurb:
  24. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) Only going to Wrigley to see Strasburg is different, since you aren't a fan of either the Cubs or Nats. OP has 116 posts here in a little under a year so I'm assuming he's a Sox fan. I can understand wanting to avoid Floyd or Humber, but at least one of Sale, Peavy, or Quintana pitches every series, and if that plus Dunn, Konerko, and AJ aren't enough to get you to the park and you need a specific player from an opponent, then you really aren't much of a Sox fan. I disagree...if you are a Sox fan and you want to go to a game, then go to a game. You never know what's going to happen, even if you are a walk-up. Go to the game pettie. Enjoy the time there, grab a brat and a Leinie's or Lite and enjoy a beautiful Chicago summer with some baseball on the side.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) National Review has replaced one racist bigot (the Derb) with another: http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archiv...rvatism/258749/ Holy monkey!
