  1. Well, Matt Millen IS an honorary board member of The Second Mile...which leads me to believe he was one of the men who made one of those "mistakes."
  2. Sox win a close race, Detroit takes wild card.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) Do some Illini fans blame the refs for this? I kid cuz I care. Nah, we blame Matt Painter.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 10:07 AM) The Twitterverse is saying that Matt Millen is on ESPN saying that the Freeh report is just "one man's opinion". He's right, it is...unfortunately for Millen's credibility, that man is a former chief of the FBI. Which, if Millen didn't know, stands for Federal Bureau of INVESTIGATION. What a douche.
  5. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) Watched some Romney ads today. They sucked. He needs to get better fast. Obozo is looking like a polical pro and Romney is failing. And yes it's early. Blah blah blah. They are bland. Like the candidate.
  6. Every single one of you will have your Chicagoan card forcibly removed. It's Jays and there is no other.
  7. Updated...looks like Kane and Subban are out (if this is even true). Plekanec and Hjalmarsson are the package starters. Also, in on Doan (which we already knew). Needs more pepper.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Here's how I'd break the trade down: 2nd line C for 2nd line C- Kane for Plekanec D for D- Subban for Hjalmarsson Why the f*** would Montreal trade PK Subban for Niklas Hjalmarsson? I guess it would go more like this: Kane > Plekanec Hjalmarsson Therefore = trade. I also think the salaries are similar.
  9. Once again...from HockeyBuzz (and again, grain of salt). Mmmm...salty. I think I would do this trade.
  10. Hey...thanks! Spent the day at the Sox game with my son...and it was great. Minus the Blue Jays winning of course.
  11. It's a blog...it's Hockeybuzz.com...buuuuuut... Insert Grain of Salt Here
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) Brookbank does sound like the type of D-man the Hawks were lacking last year, although he's probably just a #5/6. Thought I read that he would have been 3rd on the time in hits last season. And he's 9 years younger than Sean O'Donnell, which is nice. That's ok...so was Sopel, but he was HUGE when he needed to be, blocking shots and eating PK time. That's what Brookbank hopefully can continue to be.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Parise in a Hawks uniform would be awesome, but that would probably require trading Hammer, and correct if I'm wrong but scoring goals wasn't the problem last year, giving up goals was the big issue. Seems like spending that money on Suter would make more sense, although I'm convinced he will be a Red Wing. True, but Brookbank is the type of stay-at-home d-man that is willing to block shots on a PK. He's a younger and quicker Brent Sopel. And probably better than Hammer at that part of the game.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) If you bring in Weber, you might end up dealing Seabs too. Possibly...but I hope they get a hell of a haul for him.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) There is no doubt he inherited a mess from Daley...but as a leader, he has to realize this is a piss poor time to lean on your people to dig you out. The governments job, IMO, should be to assist people during bad times...not burden them. You burden them during the good times...which they ALWAYS fail to do. General Rhammel will be no different. Tax and spend during good times...tax and spend during bad times. While this is an understandable position...there is the "Wacker Drive/Columbus Drive" argument. Do you remember that one? Either CDOT could do all three in a row and it would've taken 8 years, or they do all three simultaneously and it takes 3. Yes, it hurts. Yes, it's a true pain in the ass. But it's done quicker. I don't disagree with you that raising prop taxes and water bills, etc is a real burden and it could throw some into foreclosure. You aren't wrong. But, if the city is in that bad of shape, borrowing more isn't the answer either. Because of this, he may only be a one term mayor...ok, democratic machine and wealthy family...he'll be mayor again. but he's pissing a lot of people off anyway.
  16. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) Don Grady played drums with a band called Yellow Balloon who had a top forty hit called "Yellow Balloon". The flip side of "Yellow Balloon" was "Noollab Wolley", "Yellow Balloon" played backwards. Ah, the 60's. Did the song say Don Grady was dead?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) I'm all for that! I can't remember where I read it, but Weber's been lost in the shuffle of all of this. While everyone is fighting for Suter, throw out an offer sheet for Weber! C'mon Stan! Weber, Keith, Seabrook, Leddy, Oduya, Brookbank, Montador, Olson!
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) How about screwing with the Preds and signing Weber to an offer sheet? A la the Sharks and Hammer. Not sure if the 'hawks have the arsenal to make that bid, though.
  19. The problem is: AJ and Wieters are actually still catchers. Mauer and Napoli are part-timers. I know they qualify as catchers, but both play a lot of 1B and DH. Personally, I think Rios and AJ should have gotten in over Dunn. But I think Dunn is in because of two things, the DH and the Home Run Derby (which I hope he doesn't participate in). Either way, f*** you Ron Washington, you're guys are gonna get a little chin music this week.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:42 AM) There's really no logical reason to be an every other year player. If someone could provide a cause for why he has had this go on in the past few years, I might take it more seriously. For now, I just can't. See: Bret Saberhagen
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) OMoGrososo Or...if he doesn't pan out... Omogro-SOSO
  22. Barry Becher, 71, Informercial Genius and Ginsu Knife Pioneer: But wait, there's more...
  23. Somewhere...Keith Law and Jim Caple are questioning their career choice.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) The Penguins are insane. 12 years, $104.4 million for Sidney Crosby and his mush brain. That, my good friends, is a gamble. They should have traded Sid for the world, and held onto Staal. I guess if his brain got perma-damaged, then he'd retire and the cash would be off the books, though. Maybe Crosby got hit so hard, it damaged Lemieux' brain?
