  1. Whelp, I honestly can't think of a positive side to this. Sorry guys.
  2. To hold up Nick Madrigal's .376 OBP as some kind of indicator that he's going to get on base a lot in the future is disingenuous, that came with a .036 ISOd (OBP-AVG), if he were actually any good at getting on base he'd have a .400 OBP with a .340 batting average. A 12% BB rate being the backbone of a .376 OBP is sustainable, a .340 average propping it up is not. Madrigal proved he was good at only 1 thing last year and that's hitting singles, he was bad at everything else a baseball player is asked to do on the field. He could absolutely get better and have a high BB rate in the future but last year was no indication that it's going to happen.
  3. This is not how you use OBP
  4. Definitely not feeling any better.
  5. No shit, I don't love him either but I'm getting a lot more comfortable with Hinch the closer we get to a TLR signing. If this was the purpose of involving LaRussa's name in this then it worked.
  6. Yes, this is what I'm getting at. Ricky allowed his guys to do it then threw at Contreras, what's TLR going to do in those situations? I have a think I know what Hinch would do.
  7. I know it's not a pre-requisite for winning but I'd prefer my manager get along with the players. Yes, Billy Martin. I do not care. There's zero reason to bring any friction into the clubhouse beyond a manager with a firmer hand than Ricky.
  8. One of the greatest players of all time doing occasionally isn't exactly a 1:1 comparison. I was also legit asking, I suspect he doesn't love them but I don't know that.
  9. Anyone know TLR's take on batflips? The Sox are having a TA batflip bobblehead day next year, that style of play and flare is a signature of this team.
  10. So you didn't actually read any of it, you're just assuming that it's nothing?
  11. I don't hate Jackie Bradley Jr. he's still elite defensively (tied Robert for highest OOA among outfielders last season) and could fit as the strong side of a platoon with Engel. The problem is someone might pay him based on his 2020 offense which was a clear outlier. If the price was right he'd be a nice fit as a defense first approach to the position.
  12. Their owner is a "meddler" so maybe they'd be open to trading their extremely well respected manager of 1 year for some trash. Yes, I hear you and I'm with you.
  13. I care but I don't think I care enough for it to bother me if he's the best man for the job, I just want a good manager and for the Sox to win a lot of games.
  14. Tony La Russa is 76 years old, he's not managing the Sox next year. Just look at the way that article is written, it's fluff to make it seem like La Russa isn't a decaying corpse, there's nothing critical about it, he's writing PR for Tony. It's a favor.
  15. It's Jerry doing a favor for La Russa, the Sox are hiring Hinch. That Nightengale article is so bad, Bob truly is the worst around “Ultimately, I think the best candidate or the ideal candidate,’’ Hahn said, “is going to be someone who has experience with a championship organization in recent years, recent October experience with a championship organization.’’ Yes, that’s Tony La Russa. No, Bob, 2011 is not "recent", such fluff garbage.
  16. If they're not ready to sign a big one year deal then the rebuild never ended.
  17. That's kind of all he did, everything else is sorely lacking. I don't think he's a playoff caliber player right now at all.
  18. The stress of this game is crazy, why Lucas are you doing this to me?
  19. Yeah, they're just using 2020 records.
  20. No one cares, you egomaniac. Fucking get over yourself, you've now taken to needling people when they don't take your bait, you actively make the board worse every time you post.
  21. That suuuuuuucks
  22. Oh yeah, forgot about that, still not going to matter at all in the long term.
  23. It'll have no impact on his service time, he'll only accrue like 9 days of service, considering he's still going to be a starter long term the Sox will hold him down plenty to get the extra year of control, all it will require is a few weeks. The only thing it does is force them to start using his options next year so he'll run out sooner than if they hadn't called him up this year.
