  1. The batboy is on Letterman right now.
  2. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) your telling me we don't have ANYONE down there that could make an impact? i'm shocked i forgot we're not the braves, cardinals, or twins Gload has the ability to be an impact player, just not with this manager.
  3. Last month kinda sucked, not much funny stuff going on around here. This month better be 1000X better or I'm gonna be pissed.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) fathom, you're a solid poster but this should be in green right? I mean Anderson and Iguchi won the Seattle game on Friday and Bmac and Jenks combined for a CG SO of the Texas @ Texas, both games during a downturn... those are big in my book = green
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Just to add to this thread, I love fathom too And, I don't know if this even means anything at all, but why the hell not... 2004 White Sox August - 12-17 Sept/Oct - 19-13 Ross Gload hit .403 with 4 HRs and a 1.133 OPS in 67 ABs last September. He could be SO huge for this team down the stretch, it's not even funny.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Well, the last few days, I've taken a step back and looked at the big picture. What I see is a 2005 team that completely overachieved in the first half of the season, and is now slumping heading down the stretch. In reality, this is about a 85-90 win team. I'm just grateful that we have meaningful games for the rest of the regular season, and quite possibly the playoffs. I said this a month ago before the slump, but this Sox team being in the position they've been all season is the greatest sports surprise of my life so far (by greatest, I mean best). You look at the Cubs roster, and they're much more talented than the Sox. However, their season is already over, and the rest of the season is meaningless. How fun was it for the handful of us following the Indians game tonight? I agree 100%. Hell just the fact that we get to watch THIS TEAM play meaningful games this late in the season is so unbelievable. Watching the Indians game today was great, the games have more meaning, you can actually watch other games with intent because they directly affect the Sox.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) How's this for a prediction: The 2007 White Sox team is the year we're building towards, and this year happened as a fluke. While we've had a great season so far, I don't think this team has enough to win the World Series. However, our team in 2007 should give us another great chance at competing for the World Series. You're scaring the s*** out of me. I'm actually enjoying reading your posts.
  8. Happy B-Day Tex! You best have a good one.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) Good thing you haven't been making any typos recently... Hey, I've been better today.
  10. QUOTE(Bullard @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Offical Call ups Sept. 1 Gload Casanova Sanders Sept. 5 Anderson Baj Thats all i know for sure PS I have an MRI Friday or Saturday. I might need tommy john. Pray for me! Thanks Bull Great info Bull, I hope your MRI comes up clean
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) Sweeney or Young. Owens wouldn't have been enough. I was thinking someone like Honel would have been in the deal. I was thinking Owens + a lower tier pitching prospect would have been enough. But yeah Sweeney and Young would be the two most likely traded.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) Well, now that it's over, I can say this: I'm happy we didn't trade for Walker. Knowing the way Hendry is, I have a feeling we would have been very upset with who we had to give up to get a rental player. Sweeney/Young/Owens. Take your pick they'd be in the Cubs system tomorrow had we gotten walker.
  13. It's over, finally. No more speculation. I feel relieved and rejuvenated, yet at the same time I feel sick to my stomach that we couldn't get anything done.
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Timo > Blum offensively. 'Nuff said. You're bias though. What happened to the Timo sig? I spent weeks working on that masterpiece and now you just disgard it? I'm hurt.
  15. Geoff Blum has a hit or more in 9 of his last 12 games. Why so much hate for this man from everyone? He's just about the least of our problems.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) So what was this thread originally about? How KW failed us if we don't pick up another bat. Which we didn't.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Alright, this just got a little too weird. I'm sorry I ever brought up his name in the first place.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Im going to back Fathom up here, yes, Tony backing up Fathom (thats f***ed up). Fathom, while often putting a negative spin on things, does tend to try and look at things at the big picture, and at TIMES, AT TIMES, will give credit where credit is due. There are some here that only seem to come around when the Sox lose, or are heading on a slide, and not when they have won 3 or 4. Fathom is a good poster, and brings good discussion to this site. I do however hate him. I've noticed as well as many others have that there are a lot of posters who have suddenly disappeared now that the Sox are winning. Every once in a while when the Sox start to lose you'll see some of them come out of the wood work to post their usually negative bulls***. Fathom has the respect of a lot of posters on this site, he may be negative at times (mainly in game threads) but atleast he backs his s*** up.
  19. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) YOU CAN NOT PLAY THAT LINEUP EVERYDAY. They will break down by the end of the regular season. You have to sacrifice some games so that the regulars can have their rest. Stop criticize Ozzie. Let him do his job. For one thing, your knowledge is NOTHING compared to Ozzie's. Period! Or he could rest the regulars one at a time or two at a time instead of three at a time or four at a time. When you're throwing 4 bench players out there you're not giving your team the best chance to succeed.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I think I've been allowed to stick around because I actually give reasons for why I say negative things. Also, I'm not a bandwagon jumper like so many people on this board are. Very true, and that's why so many people value your opinion and respect you for it. It's not just blind negativity.
  21. One more thing, this Soxtalk is nowhere near WSI. That place has become a f***ing joke, go to the roadhouse sometime and read the posts/threads that are sent there. You can't say anything negative AT ALL or you'll be suspended for 2 months and now they've started banning people. Soxtalk has never and I'm hoping will never become anything like that and right now it's a 180 degree difference. That's why I have something like 50 posts over there and 6,050 over here, it's just not the same community and feel over there.
