I'm thinking that it's going to be difficult from here on out for Quentin to add to his xbh totals because judging from these last few games, he's being pitched around and won't see nearly as many hittable pitches. He had how many walks in this series?

7/31 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm CSN)

That was not the bullpen's fault. That's two outs the twins should have. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) Dibs on Bunky Kateon for AAP. What a great name. Both of these last two guys are from Mobile. I'm pretty sure historically Mobile has produced more HOF players than any other city. Wouldn't that be great if it continued? Also, to choose the Sox over Auburn is a pretty big deal considering the fervor people have for Bama and Auburn.

Rowand at this point would be a strong move. He would bring back casual fans for one. Also, the concerns about his defense lasting can be dealt with by moving him to a corner when Dye leaves, which he should because he's on the decline. Stl, Tex, and probably KC are interested in Rowand. Sure it doesn't fix the leadoff problem, but that is not as important as having a real CF. Especially if it keeps Pierre off this team.

QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Let's think about this for a moment. Did KW act too quickly in trading Garland and signing Linebrink? It seems like he now only has half of his plan completed. Would he of traded Garland for an established player if he knew he would wiff on Torii and Miggy? My guess is no. If he knew these events were to unfold, would the Sox have made a decision to rebuild? Does anyone else think KW is half way into a plan that is not feasible anymore? I actually posted this same question on a different forum last night. I think that he did indeed act too fast. However, it is a problem of confusion with hindsight and forward thinking, if that makes any sense. Now that the Dodgers have Jones, they are looking to trade an outfielder for a starter. Would one of their outfielders be better than Quentin + O Cabrera? Was the current trade market really foreseeable at this point? It has been quite unpredictable. The plan supposedly had four steps, Cabrera and Linebrink being two of them. Torii is the third, obviously. I don't think Miggy was the fourth, that was too out there. So, yeah, the plan is only half done. Honestly, I think Rowand vs. Torii is a wash at this point, and it's just a matter of figuring out what the fourth step is supposed to be.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/marlin...=7&cxcat=46 The White Sox early Tuesday thought they had a shot at getting Cabrera, with manager Ozzie Guillen lobbying owner Jerry Reinsdorf to make the trade. But the Sox bowed out when Florida demanded that Willis be included in the deal, too, sources said. Chicago already has a surplus of left-handed pitchers. So both sides of this agree on Willis being required. I really do think the Tigers overpaid. Between the trade for Renteria and this one, they have no farm

First of all, there is no way that Andruw Jones takes this kind of money. Plus at this point what are the advantages of Jones over Rowand? This may end up looking like a panic move, but it's a move a lot of fans, myself included, have wanted from the beginning. As it stands, the offseason looks decent. We have an actual shortstop and setup-man. I've been following Quentin for some time and he looks like the real deal. We got beat on two deals by teams that vastly overpaid. Even Hunter said the Angels overpaid. Blowing up the team at this point would not bring in much. Remember what we got for Iguchi? Are we prepared to get that for most of the team, bar a few like Mark and Jenks? I'm not.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) Who made what attempt? Steinbrenner to hook him, or Williams to resign him? Coop is a company man, he's not going to leave.

QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 02:33 AM) His ERA is in the mid 6 right now. If the game is called none of the stats count.

I think alot of people think that we won because of Paulie, not with Paulie. If we lose him, it's not the end of the world. What about how he always called out his teammates and didn't support them? Is that so quickly forgotten?

He certainly is paying a lot of attention to Scotty.

The only player's jersey I have is Joe Crede's. I knew there was a reason for it.

Pods had almost 4 million votes out of 14.8 million.

Awesome job Scotty.

GAME THREAD 6-1-2005 SOX VS HALOS

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) Is this the first baseball game you've ever seen? Congratulations. I've seen quite a few ballgames, I was saying Rowand's swing seemed very weak, I didn't really expect a HR off that swing. Also, Pods shouldn't try to steal too much, Molina has a great arm. His steal last week was the result of the ball coming out of the 2nd baseman's glove. He was probably beat on the throw. -

Not a bad ab by dye, AJ got lucky. -
It's still early enough in the game to score some runs though. I'm not too worried yet.

How does a delayed steal work?

For all of the complaining people have been doing about getting rid of Lee, Valentin, and Maggs, look at how they're doing. Jose is batting .185, Maggs has played like three games, and Lee is batting .228. The power isn't there for them, while the replacements, with the exception of Dye, are doing great. I think it's about time the disrespect those departures get is put to rest.
-
That's very exciting. How common is the shockwave treatment that they didn't use it until now?
-
Who would PH for Dye? All we have left is Gload and Timo.

According to Gameday, Dye struck out on a pitch square down the heart of the plate. -
