  1. Now I'm hearing we might just do a 1 year deal with him. Anyone else hear this?
  2. The kids can't win. I don't know which would be worse for the kids involved, to find out that all of the allegations are true, or to find out it's all BS. It's almost scarier to think that a parent could/might have put the kids up to a huge lie. Which does more psychological damage??
  3. A quote from the Sun Times today states that KW thinks the odds of getting Iguchi are a lonshot, yet we are only $325,000 away from what he's asking? Is KW trying to play hard ball? Wouldn't you expect the guy to ask for at least what he made last year?
  4. Done deal, no joke, book it.
  5. Maybe he's just giving his knee as little stress as possible, the more rest the better. It doesn't mean he NEEDS the crutches. I saw Maggs 1 week after his surgery last year walking around downtown 2 blocks from my job without crutches, 3 weeks later he was back on the shelf, for the season. Point? Apparently what he looks like he can do and what he actually can do are not the same thing. It will be interesting, Boras sure is sticking his neck out for him. QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) I've said it before and I will say it again. My cousin lives across the street from Mags in Burr ridge, he was seen not too long ago still using crutches to get around. if he is ready for a workout, I will eat my season tickets. f*** the cubs..they wont get him anyway, wait till houston loses beltran and offers that money to mags so that Clemens can stay.
  6. Lorena Bobbit could have gone on a spree with that stuff. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Makes a person cut off their tongue and penis?? Wow, that's got to be popular at the Bitter Old Wives store . . .
  7. Let me see if I follow here, Scott Boras is one of the premier agents among MLB players. Both he and Maggs know that Maggs 'can't even walk', have been lying about his surgery and medical status, plan to somehow rope a team into giving Maggs millions and millions of dollars, without an exam, only to see him limp out onto the filed in ST. Is that about right?
  8. ........and he doesn't have to move for now. He's gonna put a big numbers 05, book it. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) He is gonna get basically the same deal from any team he signs with. Only difference is if he signs with a contending team or not. Which the cubs are so it would be a wise choice on his part.
  9. Didn't we have a similar thread recently. Why don't we ask a Japanese person if it's offensive. I love the 'well, I didn't mean to be offensive, so I don't see how anyone could possible be offended' attutude.
  10. I don't know about better, but hopefully more consistent and less frustrating to watch, at least on offense. The last few years, especially last year, you never knew which team was gonna show up. Even if this team does end up in 3rd, I think we'll have a better idea of the talent we have so that we can tweak it for 2006.
  11. Beltran is going to the Yankees, book it.
  12. Rumor has it the Yanks are back in the Beltran derby. He'll end up in pinstripes, book it.
  13. Does anyone know what the TOTAL relief donation figure is in dollars from all sources combined?
  14. Of course her Dad did, she's just a spin off of her sister's talent. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) That made me laugh. What I wonder, though, is how much of this is her father's doing. He seems like a weasel. He has one very talented daughter (although I personally am not fond of her music, I am fond of her lungs ) and one not-so-talented daughter. I wonder if he leveraged Jessica's talent to get Ashlee this record deal. And, having been through Waco, there isn't much "street" there.
  15. So would I, in a heartbeat. Put that clothes on, pretend to sing and jump around like an idiot for 5 years and then laugh my way to the bank? No problema. I'd need lots of press, bad press too, the best kind. She's hideous dude, has a nose like a foot and an awkward body. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Speaking as a guy with absolutely so talent musically yes I would do it. But I would lock myself away from the press and i'd stay as far away from anything live as possible... I saw the clip. It was pretty bad... She was looking totally hot on that New Years Rocking Eve though...
  16. There is one major difference, you probably have talent, she does not. So, basically a record exec. came up to her and said "look, you have little to no talent, but with the help of 'the marketing machine', you are gonna sell a few million records, do a few tours and make enough money in 5 years to retire on, if you're smart with it". Now if you're her, you'd jump all over it. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) C'mon, you guys are just jealous. Given the chance, you'd all do the same thing. MEANT TO REPLY TO kID G, NOT SURE HOW THIS HAPPENED.
  17. C'mon, you guys are just jealous. Given the chance, you'd all do the same thing.
  18. How about A Rod in Texas? Fat cash on a losing team, he got tired of it quickly. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) Dude, its all about the MONEY. Just look at Pedro.
  19. You can thank the Benson deal for all that, it set the bar up high. If you really want a guy you usually HAVE to over pay.
  20. I don't see it either, but not for the reason you just stated. Beltran was only with them a few months, it's not like he came up with the organization and had been there for years. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) I can't see Beltran signing with the Cubs if he doesn't sign with the Astros. He's a classy guy, and by joining the Astros biggest divisional rival, he'd be turning his back on the team that he helped make such a great run in the playoffs.
  21. You're probably right, it will probably come down to $$. But, if I was Beltran, I'd have to ask myself which team becomes more of a WS contender once I sign with them. Astros? I don't think so, still finish 2nd or 3rd behind St. Louis and Cubs and what happens to that team in 06 and beyond? Mets? Still would be a few pieces away, maybe a fav. down the road. Cubs? Yes, automatuically would become the NL favorite Yanks? Yes automatically become the WS fav. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) If that's what the Cubs are offering, it's not much of one... Astros and Mets will both blow that away with $$ and years
  22. Talk to me in late May once the team has gelled and the weather is more consistent. Then we'll see what we have. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Talk to me during spring training.
  23. supposedly the Cubs will offer 5 years, 75 mil. max, even if they cannot unload Corky.
  24. ...stuff his pockets with cigars too, will ya? QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) I'm gonna hop over to Cuba alright.. gonna snatch me a undiscovered SP.
