  1. finding a woman who would agree to that could not have been easy.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I tend to agree but here's the good news. The Sox are looking, and they're being aggressive about it. If we are looking at a rental, I tend to prefer a crafty veteran with postseason experience. Pretty sure Glavine has a full no trade anyways, plus he and Reinsdorf might not be on the best of terms, just me speculating. i agree with this. plus, you'd have to think that considering his recent struggles and contract he could be had at a bargain price.
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Well, ESPN 1000 mostly, but W. Mark Felt is a close second. nicely done.
  4. i'm not kenny rogers fan but just because a guy's a douche to the media doesn't mean he'll be bad in the clubhouse. but as beck said, ajp could probably give a good assessment of his attitude.
  5. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Dont know if it was posted,On ESPN insider it said texas may be shopping Rogers and the only 2 teams listed as interested was the Twins and White Sox Just thought id pass that along they probably listed the sox as interested in rogers because of phil rogers column today, much like last week's sox "interest" in griffey spurred by ladewski's column. someone needs to explain to espn the difference between a news story and an opinion piece.
  6. when in this country did it become a crime for people to change their minds? i mean, i don't want to defend a lot of these guys, but they are paid for instant analysis and anyone who has to analyze anything immediately is likely going to have a different view a few months down the road. besides, it's not like their flip-flopping on abortion or the death penalty. it's a game, an important one to many of us but a game nonetheless.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Didnt we almost hire Francona instead of Ozzie at some point? francona coached in the sox minor league system for awhile so his name popped up a few times when we were looking for new managers.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) I thought their catcher was Yorvit Torrealba after Santiago? it's torrealba and mike matheny.
  9. gooch has been awesome. you also have to give willie a little credit because he's filled in admirably and been productive when gooch has needed a blow. that is going to be important down the stretch so gooch has enough left in the tank in september/october.
  10. frank just does some cruel things to hangers.
  11. not to be negative, because we are 30 games over .500 and all is right in the world, but i think dj's home run call blows.
  12. i'm shocked the tribune would publish this type of story. where's the mention of fans running onto the field or the sox attendance woes?
  13. wciu? meh. would have been nice to see the sox on wgn last night instead of the friggin flubs on three channels.
  14. C-Pierzynski: A- (intangibles are huge) C-Widger: B (what a great find) 1B-Konerko B- (still needs that consistency) 2B-Iguchi A (another great find) 2B-Harris B (i'm happy we kept him. valuable, especially considering this is iguchi's first run through the league) SS-Uribe C+ (defense has been great. offense a disappointment) 3B-Crede C+ (see uribe) OF-Rowand C (has had his spots, but i did expect a little more from him this year) OF-Podsednik A (as advertised) OF-Dye B (but coming on strong, could be a key to second half) OF-Perez C (c'mon timo, c'mon timo, c'mon timo) UTL-Ozuna A- (i love this guy and would like to see more of him) DH-Everett B+ (still doesn't believe in dinosaurs) DH-Thomas INC. (happy with the power, but hard to grade based on such a short window) SP-Buehrle A (mr. consistency) SP-Garcia B+ (outside of a few bad starts has been awesome) SP-Contreras C (too up and down. anyone else think he pitches better when duque is pitching?) SP-Hernandez C- (a disappointment so far, although his greatest value could be in the postseason) SP-Garland A+ (not too much to say here. just a stud) RP-Politte A+ (should be on the all-star team) RP-Vizcaino C- (still think he is going to be very valuable) RP-Takatsu D (meh.) RP-Hermanson A (provided the needed stability in the pen with marte and takatsu struggling) LP-Marte D (biggest disappointment) LP-Cotts A- (great to see him coming into his own)
  15. the idea of contreras starting in the postseason makes my head hurt.
  16. he sounds like a cub fan with all this justification about popularity if that meant a damn thing to good, well-played baseball. suck it ass goblin.
  17. just another case of boers being a big-time turd burglar.
  18. i had no idea pat foley was such a douche.
  19. i don't think the fast start guarantees anything, but i know being 11 games clear of .500 three weeks into the season gives you some nice leeway when the eventual slumps come around. i couldn't be happier about the way this season has started. it's the best freakin start in team history. how could you not be happy with that?
  20. i must have read this book four or five times when i was younger. i need to look for my copy when i go to my folks house the next time. i remember a line in their about comparing broadcasting with jimmy piersall to flying combat missions in the war. funny stuff.
  21. how's garcia looking? just by following on yahoo it looks like he's dealing.
  22. i like tony as well, but that line-up is horrid.
