  1. i refuse to believe an nfl football player would engage in the drinking of alcohol. those photos are obviously fabrications, a photoshop ruse if you will. the next thing you're going to tell me is that he banged some hot broad that night as well. i'm not biting.
  2. hell the way we swung the bats against millwood last time the change might help. fwiw, i think we'll see a more normal line-up the next two games.
  3. i agree that the pressure the sox have faced the past few weeks is invaluable. plus, despite our offensive difficulties it's been encouraging to see the pitching staff return to form when we needed it most. lastly, i was thrilled to see jenks out there today in a pressure spot. we'll need more of that.
  4. f***ing a! congrats sox. way to show some stones. collapse and choke my ass.
  5. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) were you not watching baseball in april, may or june? i've watched the indians all year. unfortunately they are the only games i get regularly on television. what was happening to them then and what is happening now is entirely different. sizemore's error the other day is a great example. something like that hasn't happened all year. how many indian games do you watch?
  6. i think for the first time this year the indians are pressing a little bit.
  7. i think i am ready for the regular season to be done. it seems like as soon as we got out to the big lead, talk turned immediately from success to, 'well, if we don't at least make it to the world series, this year is a disappointment.' it's almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. people began preparing themselves for some kind of failure even when this team was riding high. then, to have the second half we had has just taken the joy out of this. it's too bad, because no one (NO ONE) thought this team would be 30 games over .500 for the most of the season. it doesn't seem like anyone really enjoyed the journey.
  8. i would say iguchi, although it's probably only in my eyes because i did not expect him to be as productive as he's been. i thought he'd hit around .250 with little power and i expected him to have big-time difficulty fielding considering the transition to grass fields. i also expected him to really struggle early in the season, which did not happen. in those respects, he's overachieved in my mind.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) You mean 50 years of worthless seasons? Super....I can't wait for the next glorious 50 years! tomorrow starts tonight!
  10. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and the most historic calapse in the history of regular season MLB...A handful of reasons KW hasn't done his job. He won't get fired, but by no means is he safe. He has done absolutely nothing since taking over this job 5 years ago. which puts him in pretty good company with white sox general managers say for oh, the past 45 or 50 years or so.
  11. brantley's nothing more than a stupid, mullet-wearing hillbilly. who gives a crap what that f***tard says.
  12. ok, i'll bite. i was a sophomore in college and one of my buddies had a huge party where they brought in a keg truck. the truck got there at about 10 a.m. and we started. at about 2 p.m. i was ready for a break, so i went out and got a burrito, extra beans. we went back to the party about 4 p.m. and started again. by 11 p.m. i was totally faced and had to take a bad s***. there was only one working toilet in this place, so i got in line. i was doing ok, but there was one guy in front of me in line and i started cramping bad. he went in, and i just couldn't hold it anymore. i was panicking, and i noticed to my left was a closet where their hot water heater was. i stepped in, dropped trou and let loose. as i'm s***ting, i'm thinking, what the hell am i going to wipe with? then i notice to my left is a roll of toilet paper, almost put there by the lord himself just for me. so i wrap up my biz, wipe, wait for the guy in the john to leave and made my getaway. i heard nothing of this for awhile. the party finished up, i went home and figured it was forgotten. then like two weeks later one of the guys started complaining that there was a stench in the basement they couldn't get rid of. i said nothing. a week after that one of the guys is like "you'll never believe it, i finally tracked that stench and found a big pile next to the hot water heater. who would do something like that." i was like "yeah, what an asshole."
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I guess to people that are outcasts it may seem that way. Sorry that you have such a negative view and experience of people in fraternities. Seems that there must be a reason for this in your case, because at my school, I had many friends that were not in my fraternity and were not in any organizations as well. Keep on keepin on I guess, FYI though, "high school mentality" is part of being in a sociall setting, it is going to exist in your next job, your next social scene, your kids soccer games, PTA etc etc. identifying people who don't want to be in frats as "outcasts" is the very definition of a "high school mentality."
  14. when i was an undergrad at the u of i, i had plenty of friends who were in frats. with that in mind it's difficult for me to paint with a broad brush and identify those guys as total jackasses. however, u of i has more greek houses than any university in the nation (at least it did when i was there). that volume has lended itself to a lot (not all, a lot) of greek folks conducting themselves as if they are better than everyone else. that is indisputable. as i said previously, i had many friends who were involved in greek life, but on a whole i had a bad taste in my mouth about the greek system when i graduated.
  15. the jackets gm was just on local radio out here. he said there were no breaks. he's having an mri now to check for any ligament damage which would obviously be the biggest concern. they should know more tomorrow.
  16. word out here is one of his children has brain cancer and things have recently taken a turn for the worse. prayers to arthur and his family.
  17. i'd link, but the pisspot is a pay site. this would suck. i'm a blackhawk fan first but was hoping to get to some games this year.
  18. i heard all this right after willingham started, too.
  19. this is a great example of the old "the best trade is sometimes the trade you don't make" adage.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) 1. Levine is about as accurate as.... 2. Do you really think the cubs, after having an extremely dissapointing season, would trade their starting 2B to their crosstown rival for their playoff run? i do. beats getting nothing for him. i doubt hendry cares much about that stuff.
  21. so says bruce levine, who has apparently decided the sox may indeed make a trade after all.
