  1. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) Thanks.... while his numbers against RHP look terrible compared to those ridiculous LHP numbers, his OPS against righties beats Kotsay's .706 OPS vs RHP. Also look at post 108 on page 8 of the Viva la Revolucion thread .
  2. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) I don't even want him on the team and my name is Randy ! I hear ya cuz I have the same initials . (RW)
  3. The bad decisions are always remembered and the good ones forgotten; every time a pinch hitter succeeds or fails, every time a relief pitcher gives up runs or gives up nothing, every time a lineup is constructed one way or another, every time there's a defensive change, every stolen base or caught stealing, every hit and run , every suicide squeeze .You ( meaning all of us) question things constantly so when the Sox lose you can feel vindicated and when they win you can quietly wait for your next chance to be right. Just win baby and if you don't we got the reasons why ! Few good decisions have been mentioned here. Didn't Kotsay get a pinch hit ? Wasn't there a successful suicide squeeze? Viciedo's 1st appearance was against a leftie to make the kid have a better chance of a successful debut.
  4. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Mark Kotsay is batting .205 or something like that....not asking Dayan to do to much if he DH's to hit .205 Kotsay and Jones should not DH......ever You got that right! I mean seriously if Kotsay can keep batting 5th or 3rd why can't DV get some PT at DH ?
  5. Just have to play him. Can't protect him too much or he'll never play . He'll be sent back down once Teahen comes back and sure cant catch lightning in a bottle if the lightning is on the bench. So he'll K a lot but he just might hit a few bombs and drive in some runs.
  6. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) I agree, but one small consolation prize is the availability of Viciedo to pinch hit and guard against a lefty reliever late in the game, assuming the Atlanta starters are not working on complete game shutouts against this paltry lineup. But will they be tough relievers ?
  7. This game thread is almost as long as some complete games threads when we were going bad and the game is still 7 hrs away .
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) I just call him, "The Cuban Babe Ruth." It's from an early (badass) scouting report on the kid and it's not from the Chapelle Show. The Scout didn't know Babe Ruth was a lefty ?
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) The Sox can't beat "crafty" lefties. Never could. Dayan will kick his ass I gotta call him Tank or Hollywood Viciedo cuz when I say Dayan I feel like I'm calling him Diane.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) Just call him DMV. Dayan 'Monster' Viciedo Some of us have been calling him Tank since we already have the Missile. I like Hollywood Viciedo.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) This is quite exciting. Viciedo, Hudson, Flowers, and now Sale all on the cusp of the Majors. Sales will start off in A ball so no matter what he and his agent expect him to do he is not on the cusp of the majors.
  12. I'm always in no matter how bad or good they are.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) I had a foot in, then I brought it out. I've put it back in, and I'm in the process of shaking it all about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7movKfyTBII and it's not a hokey pokey wedding video.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/06/chri...-agreement.html Is he really going to be ready in six weeks? Didn't the Sox say something similar to Viciedo in order to sign him ? Good technique if it gets someone to sign cheaper as rarely does anyone make that kind of jump.
  15. Sox going back home having won 6 in a row and 11 of 13 and finally reaching .500. Enjoyed todays game immensely and posted a lot in the game thread until I left to watch Toy Story 3 with my 24yr. old daughter with the Nat's coming to bat in the 9th. She also made me breakfast of waffles and strawberries , bought a pizza at Roundtable for lunch and paid for the Toystory tix. I bought Icees at the movies . Yikes $6 for one medium Icee. Also got a call from my 22 yr old son in AZ. Best Fathers Day in a long time. Hope you all had similarly good ones ! Feel free to post what you did either with your kids or with your dads. This might seem more like a twitter post than something for Soxtalk so if there is an appropriate place for this some where on Soxtalk feel free to move it as now I have to call my Dad.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) White Sox baseball is fun again. This is starting to look like a team that just needs another bat to stay around for a while. Winning just smells sweeter. We got the wind at our backs so let's ride it as long as we can. Don't stop ! Get it ! Get it !
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) If I had any confidence at all in Quentin snapping out of it any more, I wouldn't be saying that. but look, if you want to stay in the race, you can't keep running Quentin and Beckham out there and ignoring the fact that they're not improving. If you're playing for this year, these 2 guys are the repairable slots. If you're looking for next year, then by all means run them out there every day. Just 2 weeks ago the same was said about our starting pitching and they had no wrist injuries like Q did. He needs to play. Without his bat chances of a Sox playoff team aren't very good but with it we have a chance. When Q is on he can carry this team.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) You're not going to be very good if you spend the first 2 months with your team hitting .150 with no one on base and .300 with RISP. Just surprised to hear you basically giving up on a guy who is capable of MVP numbers to platoon with a guy who will never be confused with ever having an MVP type season.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) And I'm not going to give guys credit for that. If you're hitting .321 and you're a .200 hitter, you're just as likely to hit .100 with RISP the rest of the season. The question is whether or not Quentin is a .200 hitter. So far this year, he is a consistent .200 hitter. No credit for hitting well with RISP ? If you have a whole team doing that. You're going to be pretty good. Q second on the team in RBI's seems pretty important on a team that hasn't hit well with RISP.
  20. This will be a tough AB for Dayan > hits RH's not as good and a sidearmer.
