6/19 Juneteenth matchup: Enron Astros @ Exelon White Sox - avenging 2021
Not really at the major league level. I knew it was a longshot to get much back from a lot of the stuffs they signed . Fedde and Crochet great. Got a decent relief guy for Grossman.Kopech bombed. Pham doing OK. But if they were even on track to match last seasons record it would mean more guys doing better. Moncada,Eloy and Robert all pretty disastrous.Couldnt get much worse results on all 3 of those guys in the 1st half. Benintendi too. Vaughn until recently. DeJong might net something but I'm hard pressed to think anyone else gets much. Brebbia maybe.Banks? Wilson unless they keep him. I keep thinking one of the youngish OFs ( Colas, DeLoach , Fletcher or Julks ) might get moved paired up with someone.

Eventually but I've expressed doubts on both Robert and Crochet being moved this deadline.

Hey you agreed with me when I said I had to root for wins because wins mean better trade returns and the kids are performing well when it seemed like half of Soxtalk was rooting for losses and total embarrassment.

He said he went back down to Charlotte to work on some deficiencies but didn't say what they were. Didn't throw many 4 seamers tonight. Sweeper sinker mainly but good use of the change up too.

Gotta root for the kids and anyone on the trade block if you want the team to maximize trade returns.

6/18 Astros @ White Sox 7:10 pm - relitigating 2005
My bad Cannon gave up 1 run in 7 innings his last outing so 1 earned run in his last 18 innings.

Cease To Padres per Passan
It may or may not end up being so but I did mention that 2022 could be viewed as an outlier if you held onto him for 2024 and he didn't perform up to par and then you erode his value even more by keeping him for a half season and by performance. Sox were in no position to take that chance. For all those who think Getz was screwed in that trade think about this. They did precisely what the TB Rays would have done and many of you couldn't handle it, overvaluing Cease then pouting about a pretty good return. They got near maximum value for him in a market than doesn't like 5 innings guys coming off a mediocre year that saw a fade in the 2nd half . Sure he makes all his starts but he's not a true stud. We have seen more than our share of guys turning into pumpkins. Once again we are overvaluing Crochet because of basically 12 starts . Sure extend him. Let's buy high on him because he might be so good we'll never get the chance again .So go Sox . And some of you call Getz panicky for minor moves. It's downright farcical. Crochet would need 2 more miracles to ever get $150M contract and he's already been a miracle unicorn by A. Pitching as well as he has and B. Staying healthy. If I had to choose between him him getting $150M or non tendered I'd choose non tendered. I'm basing this on 2.5 months of great healthy starting pitching vs waiting another 2.5 years of healthy great seasons before he can command $150M .Any hiccup of health or performance along the way knocks that total down significantly. I'll take a good return for the guy rather than expecting him to perform 2 more major miracles given his health history. This is how to get better. You take this great fortune that came out of nowhere and turn it into a big positive. You don't keep him, you don't try to extend him and push your luck. You just trade him and let the other team figure out what to do with him .

Regretting the Lost Julks
I just take it day by day usually anyway. No one can say for sure how anyone will do . Baseball's so unpredictable.

Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
Well my 1st post to Caulfield did mention most of us couldn't read anything but the introductory paragraphs and that I'm more interested in the rest of the content. Wilder set us back sure but it not like anything that Paddy's done in the DR has produced any results. Most of the Sox intl signings are from Venezuela. Not exactly the hotbed of talent that the DR hasn't been producing for half a century.

You're something else. Day after day after day people repeat old news.Sox suck, fire Pedro ,fire Getz, Jerry doesn't like dealing in Latin America/DR and you want him to defend himself for making an informative thread just because you think you know it all already? I'm sorry but there are other readers here who might want to know these things or take a fresh look at it. Soxtalk doesn't exist just for you.

While I appreciate you posting the article I d say most posters can only read the introductory paragraphs and not the meat of the article . I would actually appreciate a synopsis of why the organization is more hopeless than previously thought rather than Wilder's motivation for speaking out. Despite our resident mod /Caulfield basher questioning why you'd make a thread about the Sox on a Sox message board which might be actually informative about the inner workings of things some have very little knowledge about which is none of his business any way. You didn't break any rules. Wether you choose to dignify his question with a response you don't have to defend why you choose to be informative when we got threads about imaginary Saudi investors and he isn't questioning @ron883 motive for posting his thread.

Regretting the Lost Julks
The ups and downs of the season. Sox have hit more HRs in June but it hasn't helped their record having early and often times late inning leads because the bullpen, which had been hot during the 11-8 sample in May imploded once they lost Wilson. Vaughn sucked most of the season got hot in June.Dejong hitting bombs in June. Robert bombs away but hardly any other hits in June. Lopez even got hot for a couple of weeks. Sosa has been hitting pretty good in June with some extra base power while Colas seems to just hit singles unfortunately but still doing better than last season so far. You just hope Julks can regain whatever he had and get hot again shortly and the young guys can show more progress this time around.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel
Yea melting down not quite the way Id describe it. I mean if you call it challenging a falsehood when I see the usual lack of signing DR kids and we didn't actually sign very many as usual Id say I was correct and you're actually verifying my stance by saying the same thing in your post. So no I don't see a difference.

Crochet preparing to be starter
His last 5 or 6 starts he's been more 4 seamer, cutter ,sinker than 4 seamer, slider, sinker and it's working really well and has some advantages for arm health . Sliders are generally considered harder on the elbow or shoulder aren't they ? @ptatc
-
Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets
So Robinson is right back in Charlotte and they called him up in theory but he never left Charlotte except on paper ? And this may just been a contract move to retain him that he probably agreed to ?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Not only that but we e heard reports that the instruction in the minors at least on the pitching side is much more individualized and it's reaping some early benefits. We're also seeing some evidence that Crochet may not be as slider reliant now which might be a part of a plan for arm health . He's now featuring the cutter more which he can command in the strike zone better than a slider and is less likely to hang one , throw a wild pitch or hit a batter. This has been going on ever since he had that hiccup where he got hit harder. Since then he's been phenomenally good.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel
Oh look at you saying " knowing full well we won't spend in Latin America. " I seem to remember you some disparaging comment during the last Intl. class signing period when once again I mentioned how little they habitually spend in the DR, the country that produces more baseball talent of any Latin America country for the last 50 years. Maybe you thought I was jumping the gun because all the signings had not been tallied yet but many were and as usual few Dominicans . Glad to see you recognize that now.

White Sox 4 HR Winner !
Chances are slim to none. He's likely traded.

White Sox 4 HR Winner !
You don't have to trade Eloy. All they have to do is refuse his $16.5M club option for 2025 and he becomes a FA which they most certainly will do.
