  1. The Sox hadn't signed a non Cuban to a contract as big as the 1.8M they signed Herrera for some the $1.6 they offered DR to Micker Adolpho in 2013 I didn't dignify that stupid bet at the time because it's like asking me to bet that the sky wouldn't be blue tomorrow. Brave guy you are. At the time the Sox still had near $3M left. So I'm supposed to wait 10-11 months until the next January signing period to hear if the Sox signed any player from anywhere despite my beef being with our continued lack of DR signings . So ridiculous. Really went out on a limb with that ban bet ?Sure let's bet the Sox use their $6M and they won't sign more than 4 players ! Works for me ? But so far despite all the insider talk about 5 or 6 DR signing we got 1 that someone found just reccently SS Mendez for $280K ! Hey SS let make a ban bet that the Pope isn't Catholic whatayasay buddy ? You'd think 40 years of incompetence in the DR would be enough for some people.
  2. So despite all the talk about hearing there were 5 or 6 DR players what have got so far ? 1 ? And how long ago was day when most teams announced their signing ?
  3. Those are the breaks. It doesn't excuse the other times they didn't hit a sac fly or get a hit multiple times in similar situations today. You hit it up the middle on a drawn in infield instead of to the 1st baseman and you likely score a run also. Fletcher and Vaughn also K'd in similar situations today.
  4. Sox lose 5-4 on a walk off single with 2 outs. Shaw walked a batter then 2 outs a steal of 2nd and the single. Sox officially 3 for 21 with RISP could have won easily with any clutch or situational hitting w sac flys instead of GO to corner infielders or the pitcher and K's.
  5. Ok Phillips walk, Payton double 2nd and 3rd no outs. Shewmake grounds out to 1st , no one scored. 3rd time today a ground out with a runner on 3rd that didn't score a runner with less than 2 outs. Another time or 2 was a K. Finally SF from Korey Lee got the run home but again just 1run in a situation where a team should score 2 at minimum.
  6. Leasure has looked very good this spring. Sox 3 for 16 with RISP which is going to be a stat we see often when you have a bad hitting team. Thinking this has been the 1st time all Spring we saw Burke. Glad he acquitted himself well with the RBI Single and nice catch.
  7. I'd have to see the play but the official scorer could have ruled it a hit is what I'm saying. If there were 2 outs a fielder will usually make the play at 1st on a high chopper since the runner going to 2nd is running on contact after he gets a good secondary lead. Maybe it was a boneheaded play trying to get Moncada at 2nd and he should have gone to 1st for an easy out. Then I understand the FC ruling. If the fielder thought the only play was at 2nd on a ball deep in the hole and didn't think he could throw the guy out at 1st so he tried to get the runner at 2nd that would be a hit. So I'm guessing the fielder made a bonehead play in the official scorers opinion. It's not automatically a FC if the official scorer thinks both runners would've been safe . Then he would have to rule it a base hit.
  8. Just my opinion but you can try to win and work on developing players simultaneously. They are not mutually exclusive. Your anger at Grifol is misplaced. When the Sox have staff and all the necessary computer tools and sciences and actually start developing talent I'll start worrying about a guy who's only been in the organization 1 year and his effect on development I maybe then I'll think about it. But JR is in charge of all spending that has put the Sox behind the 8 ball for developing youth for his whole 40 year tenure.
  9. Figued that but it would be strange to rule that a FC and not a hit. Rarely do official scores assume he wouldve have got the out at 1st. I thought there were 2 out when that happened after the Vaughn K. So Moncada beat the throw and Jime ex also beat the throw to 1st if there was one. I didn't watch the video u provided.
  10. Earl Weaver believed in the 3 run HR. Nicky Lopez was not going to hit a 3 run HR. Casey Stengel managed some great Yankees teams filled with HR hitters
  11. More non contact . Vaughn K but Eloy got a run in somehow with 2 outs. Says fielders choice but no idea how you score a run on an FC with 2 outs .
  12. 2nd and 3rd 1 out is a good situation. I don't know what you're expecting from this weak hitting team. They aren't going to have a lot of big innings. They're going to have to win low scoring games and squandering opportunities with a bunch of runners in scoring position is going to happen a lot with this team as u have seen in the other 2 innings they didn't bunt.
  13. As little as the Sox score they can't afford to hit into many DPs. A bunt isn't terrible with a decent bunter up. He got the job done. Sox just can't seem to come up with driving in runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs. A lot of non contact in those situations so far.
  14. You really think he's going to hurt the development of young guys ? That's pretty hard to do unless you think his coaching staff also sucks. There are a lot of reasons the Sox aren't known for developing young talent and Grifol isn't close to the top of the list. It alls falls on JR.
  15. It's just a smoke screen. The strategy has always been cut payroll significantly and flip anyone you can flip at the deadline.
  16. Probably not the point. If he's under contract why would JR pay for 2 managers at the same time when Pedro isn't going to make the difference in being competitive ?
  17. True but you can switch the words around a little bit and say the same about 3/4 of the position players still in camp.
  18. Sheets is actually having a decent spring with his 2 hits today. OTOH every time I've seen Moustakas bat with guys in scoring position he's K'd. Twice before with 1 one and today with 2 outs .
  19. Horn pitched himself out of a jam he created with 2 walks sandwiching a K. Got Jose Ramirez to GIDP.
  20. I like how signing Keller gets more responses than Harold saying there were a lot of Yankees scouts at the game yesterday watching Cease.
  21. We got nothin' else.
