Burger To Marlins
When the Jazz Chisholm rumors were going around. I 'm sure I'm on record somewhere of saying that was never going to happen but I wouldn't mind getting Jesus Sanchez. Breakout year for him this year.About 100+ AB's less than Burger this year but still very good numbers. This was in my quest for more LH OF's in the off season. I thought Sanchez, Outman and Kelenic were all decent bets to produce. I also liked Nootbaar. He's another guy having a breakout year. I also liked some of the AZ OF's. I would've had a pretty good off season betting on almost all of those guys. Instead we got Benintendi . Of course the Sox in their infinite wisdom thought throwing money at the problem to was the answer. I wanted to go young.

Burger To Marlins
Since I'm the resident SOx guy high on Burger , (no slight to Caulfield) I think you underestimate his defense at 3rd. It's basically the only position he's played with the Marlins. He has 4 errors on the year. He isn't a guy who covers a great amount of ground but he wouldnt be nearing 3 fWAR if he was a waste at 3rd base .You have to play at least decent defense for your WAR to climb above 0 which is why we've never seen Vaughn's WAR get much higher than 0. Also in the past, (probably in this thread ) I talked about Burger being able to improve just based on that .225 BABIP with the Sox. His hard contact rates are very good so all he had to do was make more contact and the hard hit rate would take care of the BABIP rising which is what he is doing with the Marlins since his K rate is about 10% less than it was with the Sox.

The Sox would just declare him untradeable and then he'd suck again as soon as they gave him another contract.

Burger To Marlins
Sure all you have to do is read the thread. I didnt judge it right away even with being a big Burger fan. Trades don't work that way. They take time to figure out who won the trade in a one for one deal. But the more I dove into Eder he reminded me of Crochet in that he doesn't have much of a body of work of starting and still appears to be attempting to find a rhythm after TJS . What bothers me is thathe didn't have much of a body of work and anyone could see that. It's like he had 2 good starts right before he was traded like it was an indication he was back to the form he displayed pre TJ. But that was just not enough to trade a potential multi year 30+ HR hitter who had proven he could hit the ball really hard in the majors and that the only thing he had to do witting wise was make more contact and continue hitting the ball hard when he makes more contact. His fielding will never be excellent but it has proven to be very adequate since he settled into the position. He was pegged by Sox fans as a poor fielder because of early jitters or whatever cause him to play sloppily at the beginning. He was also pegged by "he is who we thought he was" because of his age despite missing basically 3 years , as low batting average, low OBP. So there was a lot to say he was bad at , at the time of the trade, but it never meant he couldn't get better. I was encouraged that he could get better because of everything I read about him. He just appeared to be highly motivated once he overcame his Achilles injuries.

Burger To Marlins
I'm actually happy for Burger. If it's true Miami made some suggestions that Burger took to right away and this is the result then it's just more damning evidence that everyone they hire has no idea what they are doing. Burger was 2/3 HR,(31) single, HBP in Miami's 6-3 win tonight. 4th HR since Friday. The only thing the Burger doubters can cling to now to say it was an even or good trade is the hope his current hot streak isn't indicative of permanent results. However he's hit for average and power and basically played like one of the best players in baseball since the trade.

Lynn (1) and Burger (6) on biggest trade impacts,One month later, according to MLB.com writers, these look like best Deadline deals
Lance Lynn, Dodgers The Braves' lineup has been torturing opposing pitchers all year long, and they got to Lynn on Thursday night, tagging him for seven runs over 4 1/3 innings. But that outing was not indicative of the renaissance he has experienced with L.A. When he first took the mound as a Dodger on Aug. 1, Lynn owned the worst ERA of any qualified starter -- 6.47. Through his first five turns with his new team, however, Lynn posted a 2.05 ERA. He held batters to a .681 OPS, which was a 156-point drop from his season with the White Sox. Lynn has leaned more on his four-seam fastball with the Dodgers, throwing that pitch 53% of the time prior to Thursday’s start and limiting hitters to a .620 OPS against it. They had an .811 OPS off of his four-seamer before the trade. Lynn was acquired at a time when Clayton Kershaw was on the injured list, Julio Urías had an ERA near 5.00, and Tony Gonsolin was struggling through an arm injury that would require Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers desperately needed someone to stabilize their rotation, and the right-hander has done that. He played a sizeable role in what was the team’s most successful month in Los Angeles. 6. Jake Burger, Marlins The Marlins added more beef by buying Burger, whose fun last name is finally paying dividends. He hasn’t been able to maintain his elite 19.6% barrel rate and .313 ISO from the first half; those numbers are at 10.5% and .162, respectively, with the Marlins. However, he has still been a very productive bat. Burger has shaved his strikeout rate with his new club by about one-third -- from 31.6% to 21.3% -- and has made those extra balls in play count. A career .245 hitter, his August slash line was a solid .323/.380/.485. His 137 wRC+ was the second best of his young career in a calendar month.

The press conference thread
This podcast includes the 25 minutes of JR with the press answering questions. Pretty good rant by Herb Lawrence too about JR wanting to jhire Getz right away to do it fast being for the fans. Lawrence says he's doing it for himself because he doesn't have much time left. . I also think its pretty hilarious that he praised Getz for teaching players how to think Baseball on the field and how it's the 1st time he's ever seen it. I was what the hell if you want to teach players how to play and think baseball better then hire people to do it. You're the owner ! You mean all this time there was something you wanted and you never thought to hire those kind of people ? Those people are called coaches and minor league instructors and what you are talking about is part of an organizational philosophy that should have been instituted the minute you bought the team. That's the culture you want to instill.

OK my TV app is specifically geared for White Sox content although it has highlights of every game played every day and more MLB content. I have no idea if you can do that with the phone app since i don't use the phone app. Smarts TV's even 4K 50 inchers are very cheap if you don't mind a no name brand like TCL. They never give me any problems . Probably could get one for under $300.00 For podcasts such as CHGO with Vinnie Duber I use the youtube app and subscribe to their content , again on my smart TV youtube app.

I was talking about the TV app. SO if you have a smart TV should be easy to find the MLB app. Doesn't cost anything . you just need a MLB.com user name and password if I remember correctly since I've had it forever. Some stuff isnt in it like the Ohtani and 10 yr contracts for pitchers comments because those comments weren't a part of the televised content. Those were earlier questions to JR. He didn't take questions at the press conference.- The press conference thread
Besides the Youtube video if you have the MLB app the short and long versions of it are on that under the White Sox highlights.- It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
If he sells while he's still alive, I think he wouldn't have many offers but he'd take the best one regardless of vision. He doesn't have time to f*** around . If they are sold after he passes I'd expect the same from his kids. Sell and be done with it and pocket as much as you can.- It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
Looking forward to more bunts !!- It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
???? “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience within our organization to this role,” said White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf in a statement. “Most importantly, he knows our players, both at the major league level and in our system, knows our staff and is familiar with all aspects of our baseball operations department. “Chris has impressed me greatly over the past seven years. In our conversations together this season, I have become energized by his vision, approach and sense of what this organization needs to become competitive again. With his existing knowledge of the organization, top to bottom, I believe his leadership will provide us with the quickest path forward to our goal, a consistently successful baseball team that competes and plays the game the right way. He will re-energize this organization.” - The press conference thread
