  1. Garfien and McGuffey are basically Soxtalkers with a forum. How much extra special inside knowledge they have is anyone's guess. My guess would be not much. Thank goodness that Salvy Perez deal fell through.
  2. Did somebody steal all the Dodgers people and ways to make a guy who can't hit a lick into a MLB player ?
  3. Excuse my ignorance but after a certain amount of time in an organization do you become Rule 5 eligible or a minor league free agent ? Or do you have to be a certain age for all of that to take place ? Seems to me HS players drafted can still be relatively young developmentally and be Rule 5 eligible ?
  4. The good organizations have a lot of things at the disposal from the right people to the right machines (computers , cameras, biometrics . Think of it like this. Have you ever watched special features from a movie that uses a lot of CGI where they attach things to your body to get computer images of your exact movements from head to toe ? . The right people can analyze your mechanics a lot better using that stuff than their eyeballs especially if they have some type of CGI template for the ideal pitching mechanics. Same thing for swings and swing paths or ways to speed up your bat. I wish I could've been a fly on the wall to see exactly what the Dodgers did for Outman. Most interviews only talk about it in general terms. I'd love to hear about it step by step, like a daily journal from him and the people involved and detailed looks at the computers , programs and data analysis from breaking down his swing then rebuilding it.
  5. I know his final 2 starts in AA with the Marlins affiliate were very good. I'm still looking for confirmation that he has less velocity than he did in 2021. He did miss about 22 months between the TJ surgery and a stress fracture in his foot in ST this year.
  6. Are other new 100 lists out yet ? Besides Quero, our Soxtalk posters were mentioning the pitcher they got for Burger (Jake Eder ) was ( or nearly was) a Top 100 guy . I know people want to justify the trade but Top 100 was jumping the gun wasn't it ? Seems to me he's not really all that close. He was great in AA in 2021 . TJ surgery and it's now 2023 and he's back in AA but not yet back to where he was in 2021 and hasn't he lost velocity ?
  7. Clevinger pitched 6 innings 3 H, 1 R 6 K. Colas hit his 3rd HR a 2 run shot. Moncada went 2 for 3 , 2 double, RBI and a walk Grandal 2 for 3 , RBI and a walk Andrus 2 for 4 , bases loaded double 3 RBI Robert 1 for 1 with 2 SB, an outfield assist when he gunned down Bauers at 3rd base and a walk. He also sprained his pinky finger on his right hand when he stole 3rd and left the game. Santos pitched 2 innings in relief after coming off the bereavement list. 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 K for his 3rd save.
  8. i don't think they have them any more but it used to be when guys would pay a decent amount of money to play against some ex big league Sox players. It lasted about a week or so and they'd all be in a hotel and have other perks besides playing the games.
  9. They have to catch the Tigers 1st. They're still 5.5 back of them. I doubt they catch either one.
  10. Last year it would ve meant something if anyone else had done well. It's not like they had him all of last year. They got the best of him last year.
  11. He Ain't Nothin' but a Hound dog.
  12. Pretty petty if it was intentional. Move on White Sox.
  13. Benintendi can't hit pitches right down the middle.
  14. Nice job by Bummer to limit to damage !
  15. I wouldn't mind Eloy trying a Judge type stance . It's a somewhat similar open stance.
  16. Trayce 1st Sox hit in a long time .
  17. One side or the other should refuse it.
  18. Clevinger K's the side . SHould get at least 1 more inning. 78 pitches.
  19. And there you have it. I suppose this means the Sox had no interest or Hyun-Suk Jang had no interest in signing with the Sox.
  20. Banks was really good at throwing pitches right down the middle that inning.
  21. Benneti with the Yacht Rock REO SPeedwagon "keep on rollin', Roll With the Changes reference for DeClan Cronin. REO Speedwagons lead singer was Kevin Cronin.
  22. Cronin spotting that slider pretty good against the RHHs
  23. Look the Rays are a great franchise and I know as well as anyone that they have success with many players that the Sox wouldn't have but we are dealing with small sample sizes here and relief pitchers are highly volatile. I never once suggested or even implied it was luck. The Rays do also fail with players only you don't notice those things because teams go through a lot of players. When Cueto had his good year with the Sox was it luck, was he just healthy or did the Sox make a few suggestions? How about Gregory Santos this year after they got him from the Giants. He was an unexpectedly good relief pitcher. Jesse Scholtens is a 29 year old rookie, he's pitched well. Touki Toussaint is 27 and has also pitched well since he joined the Sox. James McCann flourished with the Sox then didn't after he signed with the Mets. Carlos Rodon relaunched his career with the Sox after signing for $3M in 2021. I see you mentioning Diekman over and over. He's pitched 25 innings with TB. Give it time and see how it shakes out a little more is all I am saying. So far so good for him but I think when the batters catch up to what he's doing differently you might not get so excited. I give the Rays credit every chance i get long before you came to Sox talk so my posting history should tell you all you need to know. If you want to get excited over Diekman's 25 innings , cool. Like I said let's see if he keeps pitching that well the rest of the season and see if he makes the Rays playoff roster.
  24. No one is missing the 36 year old Diekman but you should probably use links to reference your points about how they tweaked him. If the Sox had done the same things the Rays did to fix him he might have done better and been tradable at the deadline instead of a giveaway. However, the guy came to the Sox at age 35 and if he knew how to pitch before then, he sure didnt show it with the Sox. His whip was around 2.0 which is extremely high. Also if what the Rays did to "fix" Diekman worked it sure happened quickly. Mechanics are not usually something that can be changed that fast. Pitch mix I can understand. Might just be a temporary fix that caught the hitters off guard from his usual mix. It'll be interesting to see if Diekman is on their playoff roster for the 1st round. He may implode before then.
  25. This proves the Sox were smarter going after that outside corner. Took advantage of how bad Diaz usually is on that side of the plate.
